Frequency: 50 - 500 Hz (communications and deterrence), 700 KHz (detection)
Features: Cellular app
Range: 1000 meters (UUV, minisub), 900 meters (diver)
Weight (dry): 40 kg
Price: $20,000
DPR: $200 million

[align=justify]Background: As part of the Greater Prussian anti-submarine warfare initiative, the alliance sought out innovative weapons to secure its shorelines, oil rigs, and strategic installations against combat divers, UUVs, and minisubmarines. Because several member states of Greater Prussia have themselves repeatedly used combat divers to engage the installations of their adversaries, the threat of enemy divers had been on the minds of Prussian military planners.

While some anti-diver weapons had already existed in Prussian arsenals (such as the venerable Frogspear handheld four-barreled depth-charge launcher), it was decided to include as part of the Greater Prussian ASW Initiative better systems that would assist in not only stopping, but also detecting enemy divers.

A variety of systems were proposed, but it would be the Snogohsian Ducal Design Bureau, owned by the Vitellius family itself, that came up with the system for the allied requirements. It was the Banshee Diver Detection, Deterrent, and Disruption (D3) Device.

Technology:The Banshee D3 makes use of several transducers mounted in a single, waterproof, canister. This can be lowered into the water from a patrol craft or a harborside fixture, scanning the area around it for potential hazards - such as divers, minisubmarines, or UUVs.

In the event that an enemy combat diver is detected, the device alerts an operator. It is compatible with the Bastion II C3I system as the Lyran Cromwell II and Warrior II systems. (For civilian and corporate users, the option exists also to connect the device to a smartphone app).

At this point the user has four options:

(a) Utilizing the device as a loud hailer or alarm to warn off divers.
(b) Engaging the divers with a less-lethal setting of sound, stunning and disorienting them, but with a lower chance of injury.
(c) Engaging enemy divers with a high-yield sonar ping, capable of inflicting significant injury (bear in mind that in a diving scenario, even injuries that would be reasonably survivable on land are likely become lethal).
(d) Alerting authorities on shore or, where available, providing targeting data for weapon systems such as anti-diver missile launchers.

Legal disclaimer: In some markets, the options for lethal or even less-lethal active pings may be unavailable civilian use. Check with your local authorities before ordering and installing the Banshee sonar system.

Allanean Defense Exports recommends carrying out an environmental impact study before any long-term installation of an active sonar device as part of an infrastructure or fortification system.
