The T64BVM-Block4/T64BVM-B4 is the newest modernization of the famous Soviet T64 and it was created in a joint program by Ukraine and Germany. The T64BVM-B4 is a highly capable easy to mentain all weather tank famous for its cheap procurement and upkeep costs while still offering great capabilites in the attack and recon role in all terrains.
The history behind the T64BVM-B4 started in 2015 after the Russo-Ukraine war of 2014-2015. In a effort to modernize its tank fleet from their T64BVs, which have been reported to be on pair with older Russian tanks T72-T72b3 T80-T80BV and T90-T90A. Others like the more modern T90M T80BVM and T14A have shown to be a deadly foe for the Ukrainian T64BVs with most engagements haveing been won due to German supplies AGTMs. After the war has been won Ukraine decided to invest into their tank modernization. Due to the fear of once Russias more modern tanks would become more numerous they would be able to present a great risk against the T64BVs. To modernize their tanks the Ukrainian company Kharkiev Heavy Amour joined up with the German company Prussian steel thus begining the program that created the T64BVM-B4 which has been completed in 2019.
The T64BVM-B4 uses the Cotech 1.800 hp 22-HTE 12-cylinder Hydrogen engine, which allows it to reach speeds of up too 70mk/h on road 40km/h off road and a total reverse speed of 33km/h. Its total hp to weight ratio stands at 42,5hp per ton while giving the tank a effective range of over 800kms due to its efficient fuel and the modern engine.
The T64BVM-B4 uses the Donbass metal works guns 2a4v-2 125mm smoothbore gun as main armement. It allows the ussage of the more modern 125mm shells:
