Background: Extensive aerobic training and long-distance walking, jogging, or backpacking has long been an intrinsic part of the training of members of special forces, general military, special police and rescue forces. It is considered to be one of the premiere means to build both physical and psychological resilience, as well as the general fitness necessary to carry out tasks in emergencies.
However, there exist certain practical restrictions to conducting such training outdoors.
One is severe weather - extremely high or extremely low temperatures (below zero degrees and above thirty degrees Celsius, respectively) are associated with increased risk of injury.
Yet another is combat risks – personnel deployed in Forward Observation Bases or in facility security in hostile and semi-hostile territory may not be able to schedule morning runs on a regular basis.
Finally, some personnel’s service conditions (for example, submarine and surface ship crews) limit their ability to schedule regular outdoor training. Personnel who are recovering from injuries may also need to train under observation.

Every element of the Astylos is built out of reinforced parts and advanced materials, intended to regularly bear the weight of soldiers in full military gear. It is capable of being used day in and day out by men and women carrying assault packs up steep inclines intended to simulate the sort of harsh terrain at which your professional personnel are training to save – or end – the lives of others.
For this reason, the Astylos equipped with state-of-the-art electronic equipment. The incline can be varied up to an incline of 40 degrees, making it possible for instructors to plan complex routes and to simulate even exotic mission profiles. Like your ancestors’ route to school, the Astylos can be programmed to be literally, uphill both ways.
The electronics are compatible with both military and consumer electronics, and include an 8” water proof touch screen, a heartbeat monitor, a wireless monitoring chest harness, and a tablet / phone holder. Finally, two high-power fans are placed in the control dashboard, which can be used to maximize user comfort.
The treadmill is waterproofed and can be easily cleaned by users or gym personnel.
