Background: The Mussulena (named for the mouse spider, famous for its digging capabilities) is a portable, air-droppable, off-road capable digging vehicle based on the Hammond Motors Bovid Tactical Truck. Sturdy and armored, it is capable of being used by both military companies and civilian contractors to use to dig pits and trenches for fortifications or infrastructure (power and communications cables, piping, etc.)

As can be visible from the artwork, the vehicle is equipped with a folding ‘saw’ trencher that can be used to either dig ditches (by lowering the trencher and having the vehicle move forward slowly, ‘cutting’ through the earth) or to maneuver the trencher to dig pits. THe standard trencher is 180 long, enabling trenches to be dug that are 180 cm deep from soil level (plus a breastwork that is 40-50 cm tall). Shorter trenchers can be ordered if one’s task does not necessarily require such deep trenches).

The vehicle comes with with electronic sensors and actuators, enabling the vehicle to operate either with complete or partial autonomy, including “platooning” operations where several vehicles automatically trail one with a human driver. [The exact details may differ based on your nation’s local laws and regulations.] It can also be used to control the digging process remotely.

It is equipped also with an electronic emergency stop system, in the event that an obstacle or a pedestrian suddenly appears on the road, as well as cameras for viewing obstacles on all sides of the vehicle and logging potential safety incidents.

The 6x6 design makes it feasible for the Mussulena to handle harsh terrain, such as rocky, muddy, or sandy environments. This is useful both for resupplying tactical elements in the field and for work in industries where one may need to depart from the paved roads, such as the lumber, oil, and power industry.

Armor and protection: The vehicle is equipped with armor over the driver’s cabin and key components, protecting it against assault rifle fire at close range and some artillery splinters. The driver’s cabin is also NBC protected.

Comfort and ergonomics: The driver’s cabin is fully air conditioned and climate controlled. It is also equipped with a fold out screen and entertainment system that is not connected to the system’s control computer and does not allow it to be hacked, but does allow the driver and passengers to view films, listen to music, etc. Moreover, the system is equipped with a remote control and can be programmed for digging trenches or pits on pre-set path to minimize the need for driver input.

For making military purchases, go through the usual "my nation wants X many trucks".

For civilian purchases, it's best to go with "X trucks per year are sold in my nation". Bear in mind that Mack Trucks sells something like 15,000-20,000 trucks per year in the US, so sales should really be in thousands or tens of thousands of trucks.

For FT nations, it's totally possible for a FT version of this truck with some FUTURE engine to exist.
