]Background: The continuous onward march of industry requires the erection of ever-larger structures. In some cases, even large-scale construction cranes fail to fill the requirement for construction equipment, and the situation does not necessarily require building a long-term crane installation, such as a portal or harbor crane. It is for this situation that Hammond Motors has proposed the enormous Titan class heavy crane.
A 14-wheel-system, the Titan-11500 is capable of working with various combinations of boom and jib, and lifting loads of up to 1200 tons (at the shortest available lift radius, and a height of 24 meters) or loads of 240 tons to a height of 100 meters. This system is ideal for assembling permanent structures, such as portal cranes, power generation windmills, and other such items where the crane can complete the construction within a few days and depart, without the need to construct a long-term fixture.
The weight lifted by the crane, as with all cranes, varies by lift radius, boom and jib configuration, and lift height. Consult the safety and technical manual before operating the crane.
The Titan is equipped with a pair of powerful engines, a separate engine for the crane truck itself and one for the crane itself. Electric motors powered by the crane engine move the crane, enabling precision and efficiency. An all-wheel drive system, combined with advanced computer-controlled steering enables maximum safety and even some very limited off-road capability on unpaved roads.
While the Titan-11500 is an off-road vehicle, with a provision for minimal armament, and NBC protection, it cannot be considered a tactical vehicle. We cannot be held responsible for any injuries, damages, or other harm that may result from the use of the vehicle in this capacity.
For the purposes of logistics, we wish to point out that most of the crane equipment can be removed for transit, enabling the crane vehicle - thus down-loaded to 75 tons to navigate even light service roads where a full-weight 204-ton vehicle would have crushed the asphalt below it.
Protection: While the Titan-11500 is not a tactical vehicle, it is conceivable that it may end up being used as logistic support for landing operations, or rescue operations in the event of a large-scale disaster. For this reason we have ensured the crane’s operator/driver cabiins equipped with positive-pressure CBRN protection, and is protected against shrapnel and light small arms fire (as is the hoistable operator cabin which may be used with the vehicle). Once again, this is not to be taken to read that the crane thus becomes a tactical vehicle.
