Background: The Free Kingdom of Allanea, as the foremost signatory and drafter of the Amistad Declaration on Slavery and the Rights of Man, had long been known for its efforts to combat slavery in all of its forms – and particularly chattel slavery, serfdom, concentration camp labor, and the associated slave trade. For this purpose, the Free Kingdom had raised and trained special forces organizations known as the PLUs – Prison Liberation Units – and SBTs – Special Boarding Teams, their naval equivalent. Together, these elite professionals are known for daring raids against slave plantations and slaveships, freeing the victims of human trafficking and starting violent uprisings against slaver rule.
However, while the work of counterslavery specialists has been often successful, it had brought new challenges to the arms industry. It soon turned out that cutting the shackles and chains of enslaved persons required a specialist tool – as these implements were often placed close to the arm or neck of the victim, it was necessary to develop a tool that could cut them without endangering the victim (as one might if one merely went at it with an angle grinder).
After some research, Allanean Arms decided to take up the cutter-spreaders already used by firefighters and EMTs to rescue persons stuck in wrecked vehicles, and alter it somewhat for military use.
The result was the Knotcutter. Entirely waterproof, impact resistant, it is equipped with sling swivels that enable it to be carried by tactical operatives. It is capable of either a cutting motion, cutting through chains, handcuffs, or padlocks alike, or a spreading motion, pushing apart doors, neck bars, or torture implements with equal ease. It can also be used for all the rescue actions for which a typical rescue cutter/spreader can be used, and can be issued to an EMT or police organization.
Finally, the Knotcutter is equipped with a LiFePo battery, enabling it to be used independent of a power supply, but can also be connected, where available, to a power cable. It is also equipped with a single, top-mounted, Picatinny rail, to enable a light or a camera to be mounted to aid in the rescuer's work. The Knotcutter is impact-resistant, waterproof, and EMP-hardened.
