International Deetiluaiian Trade Index: Updated Edition

Postby The Allied Tribe » Sat Nov 06, 2021 3:17 pm

Hello, nations of NationStates!
The International Deetiluaiian Trade Index acts as a location where players can store information related to trade, and where other players can determine the main imports/exports of a nation, and the resources they don't really care about. This not only allows nations to get a better understanding of how a nation trades, but also helps them when trading with nations who participate in this thread, since they know what to trade and what to avoid trading or requesting.

This index is intended for PT/MT nations, but can be used by all techs.

Important: The dark grey background should only be used when the thing does not exist at all, it's not just an alternative to the strikethrough. If something is both stricken and color coded, we assume that the thing is banned officially but not in practice, or that it is being smuggled. If something has a dark grey background, it cannot be color coded, stricken, or underlined, because it doesn't exist.

Template

An economic policy is optional, along with one custom item added to the index. Don’t add more than one item, change an item’s name, or remove an item. Also, please color code the words, don’t add the word at the beginning or the end or do something else entirely.

Code: Select all
Stable - This indicates that a nation has little interest in importing or exporting this item.
Oversupplied - This indicates that supply greatly exceeds demand. This item is also regularly exported.
Traded - This indicates that supply is slightly greater or equal to demand. The item is commonly imported and exported.
Undersupplied - This indicates that supply is lower than demand. Imports of this item are common and exports are uncommon.
Critically Undersupplied - This indicates that supply is critically lower than demand. This item is regularly imported and rarely exported.

If an item is given a [strike]strikethrough[/strike], imports/exports are illegal in this country, and it may be possibly banned. It may still have some demand, but smugglers will face penalties if caught.

If an item is Underlined, it is heavily restricted, and a permit is required from the government to obtain or use the item. Trading without a permit is illegal.

If an item has a [background=darkgrey]dark grey background[/background], it does not exist in that nation’s lore, for any reason.

NOTE: These levels are influenced by both trading policies and resource color coding. Scoring has been removed due to inaccuracies in how I was scoring, but nations are still ranked in order of most pro-trade to most anti-trade. Nations that practice fair trade can be virtually anywhere on the spectrum, and The Allied Tribe, which practices fair trade, is located in the “free trade” sector.

FREE TRADE
Union of Nobelia
United Ballguard
The Sealandian State
Zarnicovia Nova
West Bromwich Holme
The Allied Tribe
Aknuliv

REGULAR TRADE
Wrengoh

LIMITED TRADE

CLOSED ECONOMY
Bigpipstan (?)
Third ZSeparatists

? is a provisional score, typically used when people do not fill out trading policies or have at least three ambiguous trading preferences.

If an item is given a strikethrough, imports/exports are illegal in this country, and it may be possibly banned. It may still have some demand, but smugglers will face penalties if caught.

If an item is Underlined, it is heavily restricted, and a permit is required from the government to obtain or use the item. Trading without a permit is illegal.

If an item has a dark grey background, it does not exist in that nation’s lore, for any reason.

Trade Index Of The Allied Tribe

Trading Policies: The Allied Tribe generally is focused on being self-sustaining, but has low tariffs on both imports and exports while encouraging trade, and tariffs have been decreasing further recently. Bans on items were at times created to reduce competition between traders, but most of these have recently been lifted. Oversupplied items are generally kept in storage for a while but are eventually sold if they remain in surplus for some time, or are given to the populace if they are basic needs (e.g. food). Internally, The Allied Tribe generally has a mixed economy, and in spite of their low tariffs it encourages and supports fair trade (not just free trade) as well.

Four requests if you don't like telegrams:

1. Change red background to dark grey background. An RP mentor warned me that it may confuse people, and I agree with them.
2. Use backgrounds properly. If something has a background, it cannot be color coded, stricken, or underlined. I apologize if I wasn't clear on this earlier.
3. FIll in Trading Policies (if this isn't WIP). They're the most important part, and without them I can't give you a proper score.
4. Add WMDs below Mercenary Contracts. Somehow, I forgot that. Make sure it's right before
, or else you're breaking the whole section.

I have already updated my table with the appropriate updates.

Thank you for your effort. However, you should fill in trading policies with at least two sentences (less than that and I have no idea what you actually mean by it). For the rest, I'll just assume based on your factbooks, and maybe your NS stats if you don't have anything covering it.

I do not intend to make any more edits to this, as I am working on a third edition completely different from the first two (such as adding an actual ranking system). You are free to continue posting your trade indices here, but do not expect to get ranked.
