RSAG's ZF1300D is a low-carbon ultrafine grained, dual-phase (UFG DP) ultra-high strength steel (UHSS) with a yield strength exceeding 1,300 MPa which is intended primarily for use in ultra-light, high strength automotive applications. ZF1300D is formed by vacuum induction melting followed by vacuum arc remelting (VIM/VAR) to produce clean, high-quality ingots which are then austenitized at 910°C for 1 hour, quenched in room-temperature oil, and then tempered at 620°C for four hours. ZF1300D finds applications in side impact beams, bumper beams, and other structural components where the alloy's extremely high strength and toughness result in improved vehicle crash resistance and energy absorption capability. RSAG offers ZF1300D in a variety of forms including billet, bar, tube, rod, plate, sheet and customized forgings.
