Type 2006 is a family of ballistic missiles originating from the Empire of Greater Nifon, bearing designation "Mamushi" which means "Viper". The tactical application of such missile is rather simple to grasp: theatre - level strikes against the key objectives, such as airfields, infrastructure, bridges, enemy groupings, command posts and air defence sites. Additionally the missile, thanks to it's long range, can serve as a deterrent against various foes, who would be unlikely to attack party possessing this missile due to risk of retaliation. This system was created with conventional warheads in mind, however there is in case of need a possibility of mounting a nuclear warhead; such warhead has not, however, been yet tested nor used in combat.
International designation is N-SS-25 "Eren".
- Mamushi in it's overall design does not differ much from other SRBMs, and some features of it's design can be traced even back to 1940s era programs. The main missile itself, mounted on transporter erector launcher (TEL) is 870cm long, weights 5900 kilograms, and employs a classic solid propellant single stage design.
- One of it's distinctive characteristics is a quasi - ballistic trajectory featuring a relatively flat flight profile, never leaving the atmosphere which allows it to perform complex manoeuvres - during the flight the missile can manoeuvre up to 24G to evade the incoming enemy anti - ballistic missiles (ABM).
- Additional blades serve to provide better trajectory control during flight. The engine allows missile to reach 600km range at speed of mach 6. Minimal firing range is 40km. CEP is approximately 15 to 25 meters. Guidance systems include inertial guidance argumented by AIPN (Axis International Positioning Network, SACTO version of GPS), argumented by a terminal phase radar.
- Unique feature is an advanced laser - ring inertial guidance system allowing Type 2006 to operate without AIPN/GPS/GLONASS, however at cost of increasing the CEP.
- All electronics inside the Type 1254 are coordinated by single Murakami electronics F752 microchip, which gives it high calculation power, coordinating all the components inside into harmonious cooperation.
- Additionally, Mamushi was equipped into two - way data link, which means that provided if appropriate UAV is nearby, a corrections to flight plan or target can be made at will, as well as the command can receive the data from the missile itself.
- To defend against enemy ABMs, besides the high speed (mach 6) additional gear was installed. One of them is Washi ECU - 4 high power jamming system consisting passive jammer for attacking the enemy ABM's active seeker warheads, and active jamming device attacking the guidance radars of the enemy ABM systems. Additionally it also possesses decoys for fooling the ABMs. These traits make it very hard to intercept even for most modern systems.
- Mamushi can carry various types of warheads, up to 750kg. Their details were listed below.
Type | Weight | Details |
Cluster Munition | 687kg | covers 150m x 150m |
HE | 744kg | 110 meters radius |
EMP | 690kg | Blast radius depends on attitude. |
Thermobaric | 745kg | light damage to 460m |
Penetration | 730kg | Capable of penetrating several meters of steel, used to kill command bunkers |
- The Type 2006 is mounted on 8x8 Ueda K745 carrier, and can be fired from any flat terrain on which the TEL an be placed.
- Due to light weight of the system (43t) it can be transported via railway or by huge plane such as C5 Galaxy. Increased mobility allows it to quickly reach any area, fire the missile, then move away and avoid counter-fire.
- The TEL is equipped with it's own C3 (command, control and communications) computer allowing it to successfully fire. Due to advanced data link system, the missile can be also fired "blindly" then programmed in flight via AWACS / Drone link.
- Single truck carries a single missile.
