The Reality
Now, more than ever, businesses are growing. International trade and transport are reaching new heights every year. Nations' GDPs grow as both conglomerates and governments spend billions of N$ on goods and services.
However, there is a problem. The environment is suffering at the hands of improper procedure and a lack of international regulation. Consumers have no voice on the international stage.
The Pledge
The Environmental Standards Federation pledges to bridge the gap between the consumer & the environment and the multinational conglomerates & governments. We pledge to present storefronts with a set of standards that have the interests of what matter most: Environmentally-Friendly Practices and Anti-Consumer-Exploitation. Finally, we pledge to provide consumers with a list of companies and governments who take them seriously. Focusing not solely on profitability, but on their impacts both near and far.
The Standards
- -Greenhouse gas emissions during production, transportation, and storage are limited and controlled using ESF-certified equipment.
-All Equipment used in the direct production, transportation, and storage of goods sold directly to consumers must pass mandatory, randomized inspections and be certified by the ESF prior to sale.
-Goods including, but not limited to, equipment, food, and packaging, must be ESF-certified through controlled, randomized inspections.
-All Goods must be inspected and pass inspection AT LEAST once every six calendar months.
-A Zero-emissions pledge to be achieved within the next 10-30 years (on the anniversary of its conception) must be created and signed by the CEO/Board of Directors/Head Government Official.
-When available, "greener" options, which use sustainable resources, must be used in production, transportation, and storage of goods sold both B2B and B2C.
-At least 2% of all annual revenue must be donated to non-profit organizations dedicated to the rehabilitation and preservation of the ecosystem and its contents.
-Workers/Farmers/Associates, "Employees," will be paid just and ethical wages that do not exploit their geography, ethnicity, religion, sex, or language.
-At least 7 full, calendar days of paid sick-leave and paid time off must be provided to all full-time employees.
-Health and Life Insurance must be provided to all full-time employees.
The Certification
A simple pledge is just a group of words with no dedicated action.
That is why companies who desire to treat their environment, consumers, and employees with respect and dignity must put their money where their mouth is.
The ESF is a non-profit organization that requires the certification dues of the world's businesses and donations of generous organizations & individuals to fund its body of certifying, book-keeping, and maintenance staff.
Dues are dependent on the size of the company and its annual revenue of the previous calendar year. Dues range from 100 N$ - 5,000 N$.
Inspections will occur randomly every 2-6 months with no more than 6 inspections in a single calendar year.
