Witnessing a sharp spike in the multiversal demand for slave labor, the venerable merchants of the Grand City of Shuraya have kindly decided to assist in the saturation of this market. While the slavery of non-Shurayu ‘humans’ (a problematic and highly debatable term) is not prohibited by law, it is highly taboo, as having a highly human-looking slave has proven to sow an uncomfortable miasma of awkwardness around the owners and those who must gaze upon such chattel. Because of this, The Glorious Shurayu have traditionally stuck to hiring the more capable- and enterprising mages of the city to cross dimensions and collect slaves from those disparate and strange planes. However, it has been unanimously decided by mages and business-leaders alike that this service is best not rendered to foreign powers.

Riding the wave of international instability, Shurayu slavers pilot their great barges and corvettes towards far-off savage coasts, plucking foreign savages from their piddly little cities like peaches off a tree. Each day, thousands of foreign barbarians are given free cruises to Shuraya and free lodging in the Saḫar-Ḫarḫarrū (Tower of Chains), where they are fed, clothed, trained, and educated in whatever field of expertise is determined for them before being shipped out of dimensional gates into the bosoms of their new owners.
