Jetliner Standard Engineering [OPEN]

Postby The Dreamliners » Tue Apr 07, 2020 8:26 pm

Jetliner Standard Engineering is an aircraft construction and development firm based in the city of Trient in the Democratic States of the Dreamliners. Our facility is at Trient Airport. We develop dependable, reliable aircraft for both commercial and military contracts. We can construct a suitable aircraft to specifications that a customer prefers. We also have our own engine design and development firm, AVION engines that supply engines to the planes manufactured. Their successful engine designs and modifications power every JSE aircraft currently in production.

History
Jetliner Standard Engineering originally started off in 1970, with company roots traced back to 1940, building licensed engines for World War II. Through various acquisitions and mergers over the years, the resulting firm became Jetliner Standard Engineering. Originally the company, in its infancy, was an upfitter for civilian and military aircraft, adding essential technologies to aircraft fresh from production. As the years progressed, the company grew, and it had gotten its start building planes, getting a contract to produce under license in 1995, the MD-80 and MD-90 airliners, then popular at the time against the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.

When the production lines had closed, the company retained the plans, and the tooling to make planes of their own, but that wouldn’t come until later. In 2002, the company purchased design plans to test their own aircraft building capabilities, the resulting plane was the JSE Type 1, in which only one was built, and it was used as a demonstrator to put the company on the market. The plane resembled the Convair CV990 Coronado, but with advances in technology, the design was refined and improved. In 2003, the company had been approached by Northern Airways, then a fledgling, yet profitable airline, for a narrowbody airliner that could operate from rough unpaved airstrips in the northern latitudes. The company, under the direction of then CEO Jared Lettermeret, rolled the dice and gambled. Going off designs of the MD-90, the new plane was designed from scratch, and built using the existing tooling available, incorporating design elements from the MD-90. In mid 2004, the JSE Type 55 “Mercury” narrowbody airliner was rolled out, and took its maiden flight a month later. To prove itself, JSE offered 4 planes on lease to Northern Airways for in-service trials, at no charge to the airline. The CEO of Northern Airways was quite impressed with the plane itself, and ordered 18 more, in which the planes entered full revenue service in 2006 and established the company in the aircraft industry. Since then, the company has grown, merging with homegrown engine supplier AVION Engines (AVION becoming a subsidiary), and designing and building various aircraft, both civilian and military, even branching out into the world of supersonic transports and stealth bombers. The company has even gone into the world of computer software design, designing its own flight control system known as FCAS, which has been marked as the cutting edge of flight systems in the 21st century. The flight system itself has been tested, both on a manufactured aircraft (A Type 101 "Andromeda" airliner), and on a Boeing 767-300ER as a standalone add-on system. The system has itself logged thousands of flight hours in testing, and is available as a standard option on JSE manufactured planes, and as an add-on system able to be retrofitted on various commercial airliners of various sizes. Details on the system are below.
Flight Characteristics Augmentation System (FCAS)
The FCAS is essentially a computer system designed to assist pilots in a variety of ways, and is an addition to safety as well. The navigation systems in the FCAS use terrain mapping and GPS satellite tracking, allowing for the aircraft to be found, anywhere in the world. As well as the traditional pitot tube to measure airspeed, the aircraft uses the GPS satellites for both mapping data and location, based on maps, charts and other navigational items, all inside a central database. Sensors placed throughout the aircraft track the aircraft's movements, including, location, control placement and response, speed, altitude, and heading. This allows for the aircraft to behave normally, whilst making sure the aircraft is not pushed out of its flight envelope by outside forces, such as a crosswind, windshear upon landing, downdrafts, or microbursts. In case of computer failure of the primary system, the secondary computer system automatically takes over, providing a warning on the Crew Information System while also activating the Master Caution Warning alarm, bringing the crew's attention to the computer switchover. Another standard feature of the FCAS is the innovative Ground Proximity system. In case of an uncontrolled descent below 2,000 feet and nowhere near a marked airbase or commercial airport on maps or charts, the Ground Proximity system sounds the Master Warning alarm, alerting the crew to the descent. If no action is taken, the Ground Proximity system scans the terrain around the aircraft and details from terrain maps and automatically brings the aircraft's nose up and applies takeoff power to the engines, bringing the aircraft to a stable height of 6,000 feet and alerting the crew. Another added feature is the autoland function of the autopilot, allowing the aircraft to land on its own at any airport or airbase with ILS capabilities, should the situation require it. The central database for the FCAS contains topographical maps, navigational charts, aeronautical charts, airport data, and terrain mapping. The Airport data is quite extensive, with every major airport in the world programmed in. It is an entire pilot’s flight bag in one system.

The company will be around for the foreseeable future because; "We are Jetliner Standard Engineering; Where dreams take flight."
