Elizabeth City Stock Exchange (ECSE) (Grand Reopening!)

The Elizabeth City Stock Exchange, or ECSE, is a stock and securities exchange located in the Financial District of Elizabeth City, Angola. The ECSE was founded in 1675 as the Angola Royal Exchange, older than the modern nation of Ibica itself. When the federation was formed in 1701, and Angola ceased to have a royal family, the exchange became to be known as the Elizabeth Securities Exchange. The name changed again in 1905 to the Elizabeth City Stock Exchange we know today.

The ECSE is the largest stock and security exchange in Ibica, with nearly every major company in the nation listed on its exchange. And now, the Exchange is seeking to expand internationally, with markets now open to foreign citizens, and foreign corporations allowed to list their stock.

Stock Prices are updated at the beginning of each day, and may rise or fall. Things that affect prices are Shares in Circulation and company performance. All stock listed in this market are common stock, with no voting power in the company they are from.

Buy/Sell Stock
Well that depends on if you represent a corporate partner, or if you're a retail trader. For retail (personal) traders, simply either download our mobile app or use our retail website, and navigate to the "Orders" tab of the menu, an example of the form found there is found below. Just fill it out and hit submit. Retail traders are limited to purchasing 10,000 shares per week. There is no limit on selling shares held.

For our corporate partners, the process is a little different. The world of corporate trading of course sees larger numbers, and therefore requires more care. And we here at the ECSE seek to maintain a personal touch. As such, any sales and purchases from our corporate partners requires a letter, either emailed or faxed to anyone still hanging onto their fax machines. (OOC:Yup, no form app for large corporate purchases) In correspondence it is essential that the sender identify who they are and who they represent, as well as which stock they seek to trade, and the amount of stock. Director of Operations Tobin Cowden oversees the representatives that will handle these transactions, so correspondence may be made out to him or the Elizabeth City Stock Exchange as a whole.

How do I Get my Company Listed?

Any corporation seeking to do an Initial Public Offering on the ECSE must announce this intent in correspondence, either letter, email, or fax, (once again, no form to fill out, rp letters only here) that spells out the corporation, corporate details (location, industry, estimated annual income, etc.) , contact person, number of shares offered, and the stock code (3-4 letters) prefered. The current estimated value of your company must also be included, and will be used to determine the original valuation of stock. Initial offerings are limited to 10,000,000 shares, but more shares can later be sold once at least 50% of shares already in circulation have been purchased. As a reminder, all shares listed on the ECSE are non-voting, so you do not have to worry about some buying a controlling stake overnight.

How do I Get my Company De-Listed?

A corporate partner seeking to go back private, or just leave this exchange, would need to purchase back all shares in circulation. Any shares still available can simply be de-listed, but you will just have to convince any holders of stock to sell. Any partner seeking to delist must inform the ECSE of their intention to do so in the same way as an IPO.

How are Stock Prices Determined??

During an IPO, the original price of a stock is determined by dividing the estimated value of a company by the number of shares being introduced. This means that a company introducing additional stock into the market will devalue their stock, in exchange for a quicker influx of cash. Buying and selling trends after that are what causes day to day variation.

Prices largely change depending on stock in circulation, the most people are being a stock, the higher the price goes, and vise versa. The performance of a company would determine how much faith people have in their stock. Should a company's risky investment not pay off, say a failed expansion into a new market, could cause sell offs of their stock, bringing down the value. But the value being low could prompt others to buy the stock, and therefore cause the value to rise. The ECSE doesn't really set these prices, rather we just track these occurrences, and publish the prices caused by them. We hope this helps!

We are happy you have chosen the ECSE as your Exchange of choice. However, we need more information before we can approve the IPO. We need to insure your institution is in fact a private corporation, which your name implies it is not. While certainly acceptable to list a partially state-owned corporation on the exchange, a fully government owned organization cannot be listed, due to the nation of what a stock exchange is. We also need a way to monitor the operations of your organization, to be able to provide accurate price fluctuation reporting. Once this information has been provide, we will re-examine your application.
