Background: Upon the entry of Imeriata into the Greater Prussian Empire, it became clear that Imeriatan trade officials intended to comply with the free trade provisions of the Greater Prussian Constitution in letter, but not in spirit. While many trade restrictions were formally removed, they were in fact replaced by other ones, in forms which remained, on their surface, compliant with the agreements, but remained hostile to foreign trades. As such, many Prussian businesses neglected investment into Imeriata, largely wishing to avoid dealing with its regulatory regime.

Hammond Motors, however, was wiser than that. Its attorneys realized that, once the cultural hostility of Imerians to foreign investors was overcome, the companies actually owning businesses in Imeriata would enjoy one of the friendliest investment environments on Earth. Their opportunity came out of a series of disasters that devastated the nation around that time. Hammond Motors began an effort which was half-business, half-charity, investing in the construction of the town and industrial cluster of Motorburg, where they planned to design and produce a series of trucks that would fuel the expansion of Imerian industry.

The construction of Motorburg involved not only the factories themselves, but also a large amount of worker housing (in excellent conditions, as, following tradition, every group of young workers would have a servant attached, at about a ratio of one man or women for twenty workers, who would assist the factory workers with a range of daily tasks). Motorburg included also parks, sound-protective walls to keep the roar of the factories away from the workers' homes, and other such fixtures that would make the industrial cluster more comfortable. Imerian companies were also invited to become involved, to make the town more profitable for all companies involved, as well as to ensure that those who lost a job in one of the companies would not be dependent on a sole provider of employment.

Produced in Motorburg was a series of trucks named after Atlas, the mythical giant holding up the world in some works of literature. After some contemplation, the trucks were made deliberately overbuilt, with the conventional cab design which, it was hoped, would make them more acceptable to Imerian buyers.

Alas, this was not to be, as many Imerians view the cab design actually on offer as 'too modern'. Still, deals were made – one with the Imerian logging industry, which fell in love with the Atlas' powerful engine, enabling it to venture up low-quality forest roads, and to tow outsized loads, and the other with the Royal Merchant Guild. In exchange for agreeing to purchase a reasonable quality of Atlas vehicles, the Guild would be rewarded through the inclusion of many of its products in the export Atlases.

Greater things were to come, as several types of Atlas trucks were soon introduced:

Day cab: The basic model of the Atlas, this truck can haul vast weights over an interim haul. This vehicle features Allanean levels of comfort and safety, such as air conditioning, electronically-assisted cruise control and automated emergency braking, and the usual ABS and ABW locking system. A mount for a trucker's longarm is also available.

Sleeper cab: The sleeper cab is perhaps one of the more luxurious on the market, coming with air conditioning, a wide bed, a connection to the New Dornalian Sledgehammer Networks free satellite Internet system, as well as a foldout 30" television stored in the ceiling. It is perhaps the best option for long-haul trucking.

Atlas Armored: The version available for military purchasers interested in maximizing the safety of their convoys, in this the engine is at a beastly 650 hp, and the cab reinforced to a Level IV NIJ ballistic protection, shielding the driver from such road hazards such as bullets and shrapnel. While the Atlas Armored is not an armored fighting vehicle nor a MRAP, it is viewed by some military consumers as a slightly more safe solution (although it's worth saying the Free Kingdom Military prefers regular trucks in this role).

Atlas Autodrive: A basic sensor and control kit that can fit over the existing steering wheel and pedals of the Atlas with no major modifications of the truck itself, this can be used either in "Platooning" mode, where several trucks follow faithfully beyond a lead vehicle piloted by a human being, or in various degrees of autonomy (depending on what's permissible in your legal environment, the trucks may be either remote controlled, utilize a human 'safety driver', or be entirely autonomous).

Hammond Motors wishes to recommend against the use of a human 'safety driver', as studies suggest that their use is actually LESS safe than the use of both full autonomy or human-only controls.

Coming soon:

1. A mobile military concrete factory on the Hammond Motors Atlas platform.
2. A mobile nuclear reactor on the Hammond Motors Atlas platform in cooperation with the Serene Power Company.
3. A mobile armored sauna/shower complex for military use.

Annual sales:
Allanea: 100,000 trucks
Imeriata: 50,000 trucks

Please make all your orders at Allanean Defense Exports

OOC:

For making military purchases, go through the usual "my nation wants X many trucks".

For civilian purchases, it's best to go with "X trucks per year are sold in my nation". Bear in mind that Mack Trucks sells something like 15,000-20,000 trucks per year in the US, so sales should really be in thousands or tens of thousands of trucks.

For FT nations, it's totally possible for a FT version of this truck with some FUTURE engine to exist.
