Number of locations (OPTIONAL; only used if "Video Store" is selected): TURTLESHROOMERS ARE HUNGRY FOR FILM!
You are free to build any store you like, anywhere. However, the Congressional Duma is considering automatically clearing and removing paperwork issues for your initial two hundred stores, with merit-based PAYE expansion for five hundred more.
In addition, the Kingfish Parish is also offering to afford tax breaks if you locate a regional headquarters and add stores. Several private fiefs, special zones, company towns, and small hamlets are clamoring for your investment as well and will be willing to negotiate bonuses for it!
Tax Rate: Varies extensively, but there is no tariff on foreign films at this time.
The Imperial Constitution caps sales tax at ten percent maximum on the imperial level, but sets it to a floating index based on the budget. At times, you will collect no sales tax. Other times, you will collect less than ten percent. The Crown is obligated to distribute notifications in advance to you at no charge.
Individual Parishes, fiefs, Free Cities, noblemen, and other administrative divisions of government obviously reserve the right to issue further VAT taxes as they so by law direct.
Comments: By operating in TurtleShroom, you agree to submit to the laws of the Holiness Board of Censors.
- The Board will affix a rating (if one has not already been set) for all films offered in your stores. Every medium you import and every movie you stock must be presented to the Board of Censors. This will be performed at no charge to you.
- You are required by law to refuse to sell or rent any media with certain ratings in accordance with the laws of that rating.
- You are required to withhold any film that has not been screened and rated. The Board will perform its duties at no charge to you. All shipping required will be paid for.
- The Board of Censors reserves the right to edit and alter films to remove cursing, sex, and other immoral content. You are compelled by law to offer these edited versions, where they exist.
Willing, voluntary, and intentional failure to obey these laws will result in your company's expulsion from TurtleShroom and punitive seizure of its assets.
Expect to stock the film in both DVD and VHS.
TurtleShroom's infrastructure is just now preparing for the reintroduction of the Internet. This will take some time and, when completed, will only be available on dial-up.
If your institution plans to create films or becoming a distributor for laymen's films, consider applying for the Board of Censors' Honorable Servants of Film and Art Incentive, in which the Board of Censors pays
you for collecting and presenting homemade films for personal share.
Finally, note that you are also allowed to offer any other medium for sale or rent, including but not limited to video games and computer software. Note that TurtleShroomian hardware is dated and the most common video games derived from foreign sources are
De-makes. The conversion of modern games to older media, or reducing them to run on older hardware is an industry worth tens of billions of Skillets.
You are free to sell games in any way you see fit, including selling them for modern consoles, but be warned that it is not profitable without affixing high prices to them.
As with films, all media sold, including video games, are subject to Board of Censors review and editing, which you are required to honor.
