The Kronos Inc. KR-12 Hyperion is a line of wheeled, 8 x 8 armored fighting vehicles meant to replace a variety of armored vehicles in the Zhenian Army, most notably the tracked M113 and other wheeled vehicles. Geared towards extensive, heavy warfare in the modern battlefield, the KR-12 Hyperion ensures lethality and survivability against emerging enemy threats, be it on the front or behind enemy lines. It is capable of carrying twelve troops, along with three crew (main driver, commander and RWS controller).

Defying the philosophy behind previous wheeled armored vehicles - lightweight, maneuverable battle taxis operating in the battlefield - the KR-12 Hyperion was geared towards maximizing survivability and lethality in the battlefield, even at the cost of slightly losing maneuverability and maximum speed. Since the rise of infantry-mounted anti-vehicle missiles and improvised explosive devices (IED), it has been deemed nearly impossible for legacy wheeled vehicles to survive in modern battlefields. In response to such changing trends, although not as heavy as the heaviest tracked armored vehicles, the Hyperion features significant armor even compared to its tracked counterparts, while also equipped with the Leishen Active Protection System. It also has run-flat tires and a relatively high, reinforced floor for protection against IED threats.

Meant to be one of the major workhorses of an entire army, the Hyperion boasts a number of variants. While the standard APC variant, armed with one 12.7 mm machine gun (RWS) and 7.62 mm machine gun (manned) each, is the most widely used, an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) variant features an unmanned turret with a 40 mm CTA gun and four ATGM launchers in place of the two machine guns. Command and recon variants are derived from the infantry fighting vehicle variant, although reinforcements in communication systems have lowered the vehicle's troop-carrying capacity by one man. The mortar carrier variant features a 120 mm manned mortar turret in place of the two machine gun turrets found on the standard versions. All variants can also carry four anti-tank missiles for infantry use, independent from the vehicle's armament.
