The “Supreme Leader’s Own” Cartoon Marine Band is one of the top bands in all of Cartoonia. Founded by an act of Cartoon House in 1955, previously established as the U.S. Marine Band, 8th Cartoon Province Division in Gallagher in 1899. It has performed at all official functions, like funerals, inaugurations, affirmation (of the new Supreme Leader when needed) and all other functions. They also perform concerts year-round throughout the nation.
The band plays a variety of music, from show tunes and modern rock arrangements, to classical music and jazz. The most common piece of classical music is the military march. Because of the military background of the nation and the band, the march is quite common in the nation. These marches come from Germany, France, Japan, Great Britain, and America. The most common used march composer is the late, great and honorable, John Philip Sousa.
The goal of the band is to spread the sound of Cartoonia throughout the world. In 1976, The band conducted it’s first tour. Under the direction of Colonel Roy Mustang, the band toured across the United States, playing the music of America throughout the country and played in a joint concert with “The President’s Own” Marine Band and “Pershing’s Own” Army Band. In 1995, Under Colonel Nigel Uno, the band toured Japan, and played for the APEC Summit in Osaka. 2002, under the current director, Colonel Arthur Kirkland, The band toured Great Britain, and played Holst’s First Suite in Eb for Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II for her golden jubilee.
“The Supreme Leader’s Own” is going on tour again, as well as let other nations hire it for other events too. The band can be divided into many different types of bands.
- Brass Quintet
A mainstay of small gatherings. Consists of two trumpets, trombone, french horn, and a tuba. Plays various pieces from marches to modern songs all arranged for brass quintets. - Wind Quintet
Another mainstay of small gatherings. Consists of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and french horn. Functions the same as the brass quintet. - String Quartet
Another mainstay of small gatherings. Consists of two violins, a viola, and a cello. Functions like the brass quintet. - Wind Ensemble
The main staple of the band, also known as the concert band or symphonic band. Plays many genres of music, playing old pieces or arrangements of modern tunes. Perfect for any band festival and other large events, like fairs and expositions. - Orchestra
As part of the 1964 Music Resolution, the string orchestra was added to “The Supreme Leader’s Own”. It’s either a chamber orchestra, or a full symphonic orchestra. Functions the same as the wind ensemble. - Pianist
Any social gathering or high class party would want one of these. They play all piano concertos, sonatas, and arrangements of all pieces of music. - Military Parade Band
The pride and joy of the band. Similar to the wind ensemble except it used for marching in military functions and parades. Plays mostly marches. Can also be used in funerals. Can also function as a wind ensemble - Bagpipe and drum corps
Bring the sounds of Scotland into your lands with a full set of bagpipes and drums. Used for festivals and funerals. Sometimes accompanies a parade band. - Fife and Drum Corps
The sounds of the 18th and 19th Century battlefield come to life with our fife and drum corps. Consists of fifes (18th/19th Century equivalent to a flute), Field drums, and bugles. Used for festivals, re-enactments, and expositions - Field Marching band
As part of evolving times, the “Supreme Leader’s Own” now has its own field band. Again, a wind ensemble group, but creates sound and imagery on a football field, which includes a drumline battery and a front ensemble pit. Plays an assortment of tunes on the field while making shapes, as well as original compositions - Drum and Bugle Corps
Like the field marching band, but with more brass instruments and no woodwinds. Sometimes referred to as “The Gran-General’s Own” Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. They also include the herald trumpets, the fanfare ensemble for the Supreme Leader and other foreign dignitaries. - Jazz band
The jazz band, often referred to as The Marine Big Band of Gallagher, is the premier jazz band, playing the music of the 20s, 30s, and 40s. Playing ragtime Dixieland and big band jazz. They are often used at dances, gatherings, and other events.
