Sorry im confused what you're trying relay here. Are you saying/asking for advice to setup a storefront? Maybe a military themed storefront since you speak of "armies?"

The first time I read that, I thought that they were talking about making one singular MT storefront for the entire "world", which made me go back and read it again. Now i'm just completely confused as to what Munnius is trying to say, here.

Hi, I try to create an automobile storefront using my car collection here, can you all comment it before I launch it at GET.

Thank you so much

Hi,

The first thing I perceive when I open the catalogue is Hot Wheels. I think I got clear that it is a cars brand that sells modified vehicles but then you have commercial vehicles like Anjung Capitalist or Anjung Trader that left me quite spaced out, I would recommend to do something else with those two. The rest of the catalogue makes sense and its fine, however, if you are going to create a storefront it would be good to have a lot more information about the cars other than just the colours: introduction, description about how it's while being drove, description about the exterior and interior, etc...

Finally, I would say to add more ''real life'' pictures of the cars but I realise that for your storefront that would imply a lot of editing, there are a few nice looking storefronts with only side view pictures so I would leave it just as a more personal thing.

Good luck with your storefront!

Does anyone here know how to link anchors? I've been looking at tutorials and have been trying to do it for the past 20 minutes. I've been doing this for the linking and I don't know what i'm doing wrong. Please help if you can. Many thanks!

Code: Select all
[anchor=About]Anchor[/anchor]

Code: Select all
[anchor=About]Anchor[/anchor]

[post=36426744#About]Link Text[/post]

Basically, you use the link text to connect to where the anchor is; alternatively, you could use post title links to conduct this. So in your OP bar "EXAMPLE - EXAMPLE2" etc, the code version looks like this: [anchor=LINK to thread#AnchorName]EXAMPLE[/anchor]. Your anchored point is then simply EXAMPLE. Be careful to not missnest tags. If you choose to link to post titles instead, I believe you still use the link to said post and then the text in said title (correct me if im wrong since it's been years since I used post anchored points). This code is pretty finicky, especially when you're making a table of contents because any small error will lead to breaks; typically breaks in the forum code are where the visual breaks occurred, but I've had some/many so broken that the entire things breaks - if that happens, double-back from the beginning and fix from there. The two tips I can give you on avoiding most breaks are to use simple anchor names (#About for example, since certain symbols break the code - don't use non-english for example), and always use your thread OP link as the linked item by default.

After taking a look, your problem is possibly you're using the wrong post. I use links to the thread itself (I've never seen the use of posts for anchors tbh), but my guess is you're trying to link to an anchored item in one post while linking to a different one. I've made such a mistake plenty of times, so that's my best guess since I only saw you use posts instead of links.

Hi, I'm building a weapons dealing storefront, and in my weapon specifications I want to include the rate of fire but I'm not sure if I should write the cyclic rate of fire or the practical rate of fire?

It's generally the cyclic rate that's given as when applicable its a more or less fixed part of the weapon. Practical depends on too many factors, by all means include information and discussion of it in the write up but it's not really a solid start.

I've been working on my MT fighter jets specifications (in order to sell them at GE&T, obviously). What do you think about them? (I am new to GE&T, so that's possible that they are a bit overpowered/underpowered)

Thanks in advance!

I dig the graphics. These look super guuuud.

However, I think they can still be further improved by expounding on more of each plane's features. What is it made out of? What technology does it make use of? Which upgrades are compatible with it? Stuff like that can help sell the plane better to your desired market to RP in, especially since your storefront's customers are foreign armed forces looking to buy the most capable planes.

Another suggestion would be to reduce the font size wherever possible. While the image layout is certainly excellent, it takes a while to read everything because of how large the text is. If you feel like filling in the space left from downsizing your text, you can creatively fill in that space with more images of your fighter jets from various angles - even better if your images relate to the information you're providing.

Thank you for your advice! I will try to redesign the commercial a bit to match your suggestions.

Hi all, just got a few questions right now for a storefront I'll hopefully create at some point. I have a pretty good idea of my intended industry, products, and a rough aesthetic. Additionally, I intend to rp something of a gradual expansion of the storefront, with the idea of staring at an imagined small company before expanding to an appropriately sized mega-corp.

With that in mind:

As I have a decent idea of what the final 'mega-corp' will be offering in terms of products & services, would it be better to start with a couple of the departments mostly complete, or have a bit of something in each of the intended final departments. In essence, any advice as to starting with a narrow but deep focus vs a wide but shallow one?

I realize I said 'a few,' I'm just not sure if the other questions are necessary yet (or what they are) :p

It depends on what your company wants to start out with at the beginning, which will come down to your company's strategy of reaching to consumers. Wide vs Narrow alludes to the number of products you sell while Shallow vs Deep alludes to the options or variations of each product.

Pharmacy storefronts for example will go for the wide and shallow approach by selling a diverse range of pharmaceuticals but the individual products themselves had few variations. On the other hand, you have companies like Dodge that sell relatively few products but have endless variations of them tailored to different budgets and niches.

In recent years, the big megacorps like Google, Facebook, and so on started with at least one product or service that allowed them to be flush with capital and invest in other ventures to become a conglomerate, while decades ago, companies like GM or Boeing just make anything and everything to get the same level of capital. But on NS, usually it starts with one storefront that becomes decently popular before branching out to other things, be it divisions of your other storefront or subsidiaries under it. One particular example of this is The Legion Corporation, which based on what I could gather, started making waves with the Legion Constructions storefront.

Interesting, thank you. I think that's largely answered my question, with the differing thought perspective being key.

On a different note, 'success' as it were shouldn't be any more difficult to achieve from not being attached to any big rp region I hope?

I don't think so, tho being in a region with fellow storefront makers does help with networking and getting feedback for your storefront. But in terms of activity, it doesn't really do much.

Personally, if I was in your position, I would start with stuff that basically got you off the ground/anything that filled up the catalog enough to not look empty. For example, if you went for arms I would start out with a couple guns and vehicles to get things rolling (maybe a few guns and like two vehicles). The rest you got stockpiled can be released over time when you're ready/think it's best to do so. You could always improve upon them in the meantime while you hold onto them too.

GE&T seems so slow now, is this just a natural drop in activity due to school or is GE&T dying?

Activity comes and goes in any forum. I highly doubt that GE&T is dying.

I haven't ever done one of these before and would appreciate it if anyone let me know if I'm doing anything wrong or need to improve or if there's anything that's working well! I'd like to expand the selections a bit further but I wanted to get an initial version out. If anyone has suggestions for any further additions I'd really appreciate them!

Wow! You did really well. You sure you haven't done a storefront before?

I'm impressed with the formatting and the content. Also, the products and services you describe are pretty unique and not overdone when it comes to GE&T. Not that agricultural storefronts have never been done, but they're rare. The only suggestion I would make to you would be to spread out your intro, outreach, and products and services into those separate posts you already have reserved and look at hyperlinking them into a TOC on your OP. If you keep going, eventually you'll need more room, so better to get ahead of it now.

Personally, if you were to offer hops, malt, and some other grain products (Yes, I'm aware that hops are a flower, not a grain), as well as some of your existing products; Terembev, the parent beverage conglomerate that runs Burgunden Breus, Golden Cross, and some of my other brands would very much be in the market for those products and purchase them in massive bulk.

Thank you so much! Those are some excellent suggestions. I'm not the most well-versed in doing BBCode stuff so it'll probably take me a bit to get a nice ToC up but it's definitely a good idea to get that taken care of. Hops as well as grains are great ideas for products that I'll definitely start working on incorporating. I'll probably work on a slight formatting update while incorporating those and perhaps a new services tab focused on the agricultural instruction and aid that's currently mentioned but not really quantified anywhere.

I have to second Engollon on what he said. For a first start, it's very well done. Produce was a storefront idea I wanted to try at one point (though IC that would be difficult) but I choose different fields because at the time, there were a few attempts and I didn't sense a strong market for the idea. I don't want to go too deep into the OOC market of it all, but part of me shifted away in the end because people shop for two essential reasons: Personal interest, and RP interest. Some people personally have interest in the idea or the owner, whether they think it's cool to buy a certain product or they want to show some support to the idea/owner. For RP interested parties, they're more interested in if this product can be of use in RPs. Not many utilize this fully, but this is why arms storefronts succeed the most. I mean, what isn't fucking cool about main battle tanks, right?

Anyways, like Engollon stated, I would improve on formatting in a way that highlights the product and gets people's attention. Outreach is huge, so getting a snazzy, easy to consume look is always good. You'll eventually find a style you like im sure of it. Second, I would start considering how to affect the IC world more. By that I mean in simple terms "How does my company mark the world's market?" For example, setting up your sales so that they're essentially automatic contracts (monthly shipments for example); less work + better bureaucracy = a written out, tallied affect on the world's market. Anyone who's seen my storefronts knows I like to track stats (another suggestion I mite add, such as how many kgs of said veggies sold yearly or whatnot), so that's partially why I like to make such systems after I was suggested it in this very thread years ago. And just like Engollon, I'd suggest looking into more products. There's side products, products produced from other products you sell that you've already started adding (like you can sell everything to make olive oil and your own brands of olive oil for example), and ingredient products for breweries like ours that would happily buy material from closer exporters if given the chance.

If I could give you OOC advice, it would be to (A) practice bbcode a bit, whether that's using it around the RP world or just toying with it in previews, and (B) begin networking with people. Some storefronts rely or at least once did relied on getting customers through word of mouth, you the owner asking, or pestering friends to consider taking a look. There's a thin line between being a pest and asking for help once in a blue moon, so be mindful of that. But the more contacts you get, the more open ears you'll have to speak to. Not to mention it never hurts to drop a TG to someone - everyone likes those.
