Anyways, any advice on an airport storefront? I want something that captures the reader without being too sophisticated. I want to design in such a way that it is well-organised so the reader will not have to look for what food they serve and find out it's stuck smack dab in the middle. Since my airport is going to be a small one but expanding, I would like to have a storefront fit for such an airport. You may give me examples also! Thanks in advance! :)

Hello!

Reading your specifications I would advise you first to give a look at the pages I'll leave below, those are good examples of airport websites that seem well organized and aesthetically to take some inspiration from, some of them may be from big airports but I don't think the ''quality'' or ''sophistication'' of the storefront should vary with the size of the airport, that's given with the climate you create through the images and logo.

When trying that organisation on the forum I would tell you to think of each ''page'' and its contents first (e.g.: About us > Brief history / Introduction to the city and country / Brief description of the amenities, you could expand that in another page) and then write each ''page'' in a different thread reply so they look separated and you could then add a contents bar at the beginning.

If you need any help making some of the visual content don't hesitate in asking for some help.

Hmm... Thanks for helping! I am inspired.

Can I get some feedback on my storefront?
I know it's pretty terrible (especially because of the lack of images), but I'd also like some advice on how to find some good images, and insert them elegantly in the storefront.

I think you're being a little harsh on yourself. You did a lot of impressive stuff for your first storefront. For instance, you thought ahead and reserved some posts for expansion. That's something that many players new to GE&T don't think to do, so pat yourself on the back for that.

Another is that you really put some thought into content, which, when you don't have flashy images and banners, is the next best thing to make your storefront stand out. You know about runways, their typical nomenclature and their capacity. I don't recall ever seeing that in an airport storefront before. You detailed bus routes and gates. You thought ahead to having lounges and shops. Maybe you saw that on someone else's airport storefront, but you still recognized their importance and included them. These are things that help to really bring it all together. I would say maybe use the box function to offset the different sections and have a menu that will hyperlink to them, possibly putting those reserved posts into play.

The map is another great idea! However, I think you should do two things. Take it out of the spoiler and center it so that you have an original image to break up the text blocks. You're complaining that you don't have images and hiding a great original image. That's silly.
Second, think about enlarging the terminals so that you can show more detail about which gates are where, interspersed with the shops and lounges, security stations, employee areas, check in desk, luggage carousels, etc.

Once you get some other folks to put their fast food restaurants, bars and other shops in your airport, you can ask to use their logos in a partnership post. Perhaps another post reserved for airlines that serve your customers, instead of tucked away in the middle of a post. The other thing would probably be to add stock airport photos, but that is pretty generic. Whatever images you choose or create, keep in mind BB Code formatting. Use floatleft and floatright and align/center to your advantage. There are some great guides that players have written and you can find right in the OP of this thread. I suggest reading them to get more ideas, but again, you're already off to a really good start.
TG me with questions if you got some, especially about GE&T or PMCs.

Can someone please help me with this idea? I need a marketing ploy for this. And also a title. I’m bad at those.
My business is called Bank of the Archipelago. It is a robo-advisor business that can be used by citizens or countries to trade stocks with low effort. I also need a code box I know how to make it but I don’t know what to put in one.

Archi-Trade?

Sounds like you need to do some research for content, like starting with E-Trade and similar services. There's a lot of RL businesses of the model you describe, but I can't think of anyone who has done the exact same thing on NS, except as a small side service of their bank. There have been some NS stock exchange services. I would advise checking them out and taking notes. Be careful not to plagiarize/infringe on copyright. You can't just copy and paste RL website content into a NS storefront.

Okay, ladies and gentlemen.

I think it would be reasonable and realistic for my storefront to have a section selling rifle/pistol ammunition.

However, I'm not really interested in doing a regular 'money wired, here are your 1000 rounds of .308' thing when selling it, because people on NS typically have no idea of the realistic scopes of ammunition orders. (A realistic military that actually trains its soldiers can expect to be expending perhaps hundreds of millions of rounds of ammo each year, and a society like the USA where lots of people own guns probably goes through dozens of billions of bullets every year in its civilian market).

So I'm thinking of doing two things.

For the military market I'm going to have some ludicrously high minimum order size.
For the civilian market I'm just going to not keep statistics or records and just let people say whether the nation (or maybe a store chain in their nation) imports a given product.

Because really keeping track of the sale of objects that cost 10 cents each, on NS, seems like a fool's errand.

What does everyone think?

Hey!

First of all, I don't know if someone gave you a reply, if not, I'm sorry for the delay! Your storefront looks good, it has good information and seems as if you put effort on the layout but like always, we all have some point to improve in our storefronts. As you can see in previous suggestions I have made, I'm very into making graphics, images, banners and all those things that improve the layout of the storefront. Perhaps from what I see, SUN needs a little more of information on each section and some images: a welcome banner, some logos and maybe large banners to separate each of those sections. Related to that last thing, hr/hr is a great tool that adds a more clean and organised feel to the storefront.

But still, you made a good job, there are a lot of organisations storefronts (no idea how they are called) and I recognise that they're difficult to make and stand out.

Having more pictures (Edit: and images) will attract the cute forum fluffies and adorable noobs to your storefront (Edit: there's nothing wrong with doing this). If attracting cute noobs and alternate accounts/secondary accounts is what you are looking for, Danlina, then go for it (add more pictures or images)

If being recognised by good NationStates writers and RPers is what you're looking for, however, then you'll be happy to know that your storefront is already good! It has the right ratio of image to sentence (i.e. the importance of matching picture or image to sentence). Your thread is already good. That's why I didn't reply to your post.

Your storefront needs more substance, something that will make it stand out from other carbon copy storefronts in Global Economics and Trade. I already see at least two good regular members of the NationStates RPing forums on your list of "Official Member Nations." That's good.

Your storefront is also unique, because technically it is not a "storefront," but the thread of a multinational economic organisation. This is even better. What you can do now is to telegram SUN Economic Block's official member nations. Ask them: "How about a meeting where our government representatives can meet together and discuss juicy economic things?"

Things that can make us (our respective economies) stronger; things that will attract the attention of the more ambitious members (I can see at least one there who likes to RP as an Asian economic superpower). Your goal is to create a RP (meeting) thread in NationStates, International Incidents or Global Economics and Trade. From there other forum members will see your organisation's member states interact with each other. That will be free advertisement for SUN Economic Block.

In conclusion, it's a clean storefront. Nice!

P.S. Global Economics and Trade is a slow-moving and quiet sub-forum/board section. Don't worry about not having people posting in your thread Image

AEROfabrique Berland wrote:A nation in my region is using his regional positions to prevent anyone from buying anything from my company. How can I stop this in the future?

Well it's a difficult position because, depending on their powers, they can remove you at will and it is the right of regional officers to do so under any reason. Now if your founder doesn't feel the same, they may support you and overrule this person. So basically you have two options:

First, get your founder's support to reverse this officer's position on your storefront. If not the founder, the founder may find it distasteful they're throwing their position's weight on such an abusive action. That is if this person isn't the founder themself. If they are....

Option two is to find a new region. If your region is abusing you in such a manner, whether it's many or just one official, it's clear the institution is making it so you cannot fulfill your wish to operate said storefront in your region. You would be better served by either finding a new region or looking at more open-world solutions.

At the end of the day, if that official boots people for doing business with your storefront, then it's their right to if allowed by the founder. Thus, your only surefire solution is to look elsewhere for companionship. Your only other option is to plead with the founder to remove the officer or make it so people wont be booted for doing business with your storefront.

I did some flipping through in your region & nation, but I'm afraid I've found minimal original designs beyond your "Our Promise" & your "AEROfabrique Berland" factbooks, so I'm not terribly sympathetic to your plight. Mind, Common Territories is correct in his advice, but I would add that you should remove the content you copied from Pegasus Starships, apologize sincerely, & then speak with your officer to stop the prohibition; hopefully they'll be kindly enough to let you go, or else you might have to move. That said, New United Carolinas is your own regionmate & the owner of the original designs, & you really should have known better than to steal another player's work & try to present it as your own.

As someone who uses images and graphics in my storefronts extensively, I have to respectfully disagree. When done well, graphics can greatly improve the appearance of the storefront as well as help in the immersion of the reader as he/she goes through the thread. Information in the storefront is all well and good, but it has to be presentable in order to draw other users to the storefront and interact with it.

On that note...

Your storefront is certainly unique in that it's an organization storefront - not the usual product-based storefront seen commonly in this subforum. However, I can say that the same improvements can be made in it. I suggest you add more information on your organization such as a brief overview, its history, and the benefits that come with membership. The layout can also be improved by making use of the [blocktext], [align=justify], and [anchor] tags, which help with presentation and easy navigation. More images and graphics can be added as well to improve the presentation and make your thread stand out.

I would also suggest you center your logo with [align=center] so it looks more professional.

Hey, sure,

Airlines should be one of the most difficult industries to stand out in the forum, there are a lot! and many are very good. Your storefront has some points in favour and some others to improve, sections are perfectly selected and if you make a rapid look, they are quite complete. However, it looks very stuck in the simple format of the forum, the layout is very basic and there are barely some images that attract the viewer. I've been recently making my storefronts without using BBCodes, just images edited with Photoshop and I can surely say that it's a great way to make storefronts more attractive, you only have to worry about the sizes and it allows you to create very real storefronts similar to airlines websites, if you want, I suggest you to try it. Going back to your storefront, I would move the ''About Us'' section to another reply and use the OP only for the logo and some simple information about the destinations, the fleet or the classes, you can also make a banner like most websites have. The logo looks good, however, it's quite big, you can smaller it a bit.

The information on the sections is quite scarce, it would be good to expand a bit each writing. For example, in the ''Destinations'' sections, instead of writing ''Our hub is Johnson-Tedison International Airport (JTX)'', you could write something more about Willitya City, the services you offer at the airport, etc..., you can also give a better feel to the list using [ * ] or [ hr ] and also adding the cities served by those airports. In the Services section the same, the information about each class is very little and it looks even less next to the images you have, you could expand a bit more telling something more than what services it includes, you can explain more about the experience the traveller will have while flying in that class, Valkea Airlines is a great example, it describes each class and the size of the images is perfect.

it's not impossible to view your posts and find your storefront that way, but It helps to link it to make is easier for us to find/ reference.

It's a little too early in the development of your storefront to really get the full picture or give a full critique. What I can say is that the BB code in the 'site menu' needs to be cleaned up and you might want to work with photo placement so that they aren't all left aligned. There seems to be a lack of color, but working on a logo or banners might help that. It's a decent start and it's nice that you put in some introductory history. I look forward to seeing how it turns out.
