Useful Information
A trademark typically protects brand names and logos used on goods and services. A patent protects an invention. A copyright protects an original artistic or literary work. Patents
Information Before Filing
You are required to determine what sort of patent you want to file.
There are three types of patents:

Utility patents - granted to anyone who invents or discovers any new and useful process, machine, article of manufacture, or composition of matter, or any new and useful improvement thereof;
Design patents - granted to anyone who invents a new, original, and ornamental design for an article of manufacture; and
Plant patents - granted to anyone who invents or discovers and asexually reproduces any distinct and new variety of plant.

Fees will be required to be paid before sending your application.
Filing fee: NSD$200

Utility Patent Fee: NSD$400
Design Patent Fee: NSD$300
Plant Patent Fee: NSD$300

The total amount of fees to be paid is the filing fee together with either of the three patent fees.
There will also be a maintenance fee to be paid annually, which will be NSD$500 for each patent.
If payments are not paid by at least one and a half years, the patent will expire.

Trademarks

Please note that the IPTO only registers marks. You, as the mark owner, are solely responsible for enforcement.
Once your trademark has been issued and is being enforced, you are allowed to put the '®' symbol in your brand/product name or logo.
You are permitted to register all three, a brand, product name and logo.

In this present modular NationStates design, ceramics of certain ingredients have been joined with the chosen metallic and long fibre reinforced composite backing plates to improve their ballistic performance.

Patent Application #2

Composition of wide bandwidth data communication radar absorbing structure was optimised directly from data in the 3D CAD system. A combination of unidirectional e-glass fibre composite laminate and frequency selective surface films against electromagnetic fields, which made up the wide-band radar absoring structure, is fabricated through screen printing and vacuum assisted resin injection. The circuit analog absorber comprises two-layered frequency selective surface films interspersed with resistive square patch arrays. Combined with multiple composite laminate spacers.
