History

Obukhobo International Airport was founded as Obukhovo Airfield in 1978 with 1 airline serving commuter flights around moscow, and to smaller cities around Moscow. Obukhovo slowly grew after that.In 1984, Obukhovo Airfield was renamed to Moscow Obukhovo Airport, as Obukhovo was incorporated into the Moscow District. In 1991, the airport became an international airport with an AirFrance flight from Paris Orly to Moscow Obukhovo Airport. In 1994, Moscow Obukhovo Airport was officially renamed to Moscow Obukhovo International Airport, and has been growing at a mildly fast pace since then.
