As the results of the Qaidi crisis and the Free Kingdom Emergency Relief Doctrine showed, the Free Kingdom could not rely, in its long-range force projection, simply on large logistics ships such as the Zaratan or the Rodrigo-class RORO ship for moving large quantities of troops. Faster means of movement, such as aircraft, obviously posed a restriction in mass and range, and atomic-powered aircraft and hovercraft were not feasible for some environments. At the end, Allanean Arms won the Free Kingdom Navy’s Fast Logistics Ship Tender (FLST) by organizing licensed production of this vessel under a system wherein Yavanna Fleet Yards was paid the bulk of the construction costs, and Allanean Arms and the Carthaginian Arms Export Authority each receive 10% of its price.

At first, the Free Kingdom Armed Forces were unwilling to accept the Allanean Arms offer due to a lack of armaments on the ship, however, eventually, agreement was reached to fit it with the defensive armaments described in the specifications sheet above. These serve primarily to protect the Tiamat-class from missile and torpedo attacks as well as enemy aviation, however the Tiamat-class should not be viewed as a combat vessel. As always, Allanean Arms, nor any other company involved in the production of the Tiamat-class, bear any liability for combat losses or damage to the Tiamat, and our insurance only covers production defects as per the contract.

As mentioned, the ship carried at least 67,000 square meters of deck space, capable of carrying a mechanized or armored infantry brigade (or regiment, if this is the term you prefer, with all its accoutrements. Of the 45,000 tonnes of fuel storage, 25,000 tonnes of fuel oil will carry the ship 25,000 nautical miles at 30 knots (~700 tonnes/day), which leaves 20,000 tonnes to support land operations. Presuming consumption of 400 tonnes/day for a large brigade-strength mechanized force, this is enough for a full 50 days of operations.
The deck space figure does not include the helicopter landing area, which would add a good ~1,000 square meters or more if used for that purpose. The current forward deck space can handle an estimated 1,152 containers if stacked three high and sixteen across. Of the 120,000 DWT, it's estimated that ~40,000 tonnes would go to vehicle cargo (assuming an armored/heavy mechanized brigade), 45,000 tonnes to fuel, and 25,000 tonnes in dry supplies, leaving a good 10,000 tonnes leftover in flexible displacement.
As expected of a relatively conventional merchantman, lots of changes can be made based on need. More decks can be enclosed to increase vehicle cargo space, and container stacking height can be increased if the cranes are also raised to compensate. This option wasn't exercised in the original design in order to keep air draft to a reasonable level so as not to further restrict the availability of port facilities but it could be easily done if a customer wanted it.

It should be clarified that, unlike other cargo ships sold by Allanean Defense Exports, the Tiamat-class is intended primarily for military use. Usage costs are likely significantly higher than most cargo ships in the same weight class, due to its relatively high speeds.

Additional information about the class can be found here.
