History
Panhouston-Tollywood Airport was founded in 1980 by the Air Force and was originally called the TAFB or Tollywood AIr Force Base. It was the primary point of military operations internationally and the home of the Patagonia National Guard.
Military use ended in 1989 and the airstrp was turned into a air museum in 1990 until 2002, when the museum closed.
In 2002, the city of Panhouston acquired the airstrip and its facilities for $837 million SAD. The city built a single terminal (T2 now) to handle civilian domestic flights. In 2006 a second terminal (T1) was built and T2 was renovated to handle no flights while T1 handled only flights.
