I. HISTORY
The first airport in Rome was built in 1927 by engineers Frederico Villiardo and Alessandro Forzonni with the capacity to meet a daily population of 3 thousand people, a number considered huge for the time and attending in its majority regional flights and and some international ones, was classified like pioneer of the history of Roman aviation and so it always had a high load of workers to maintain a first world quality, however in 1945 with the end of world tensions the airport began to exceed its capacity and as its terrain was extensive, possible works began to go around the newspapers.
Therefore, a committee of both private and public companies was formed in March 1945 to resolve the case and decided not to demolish the airport - but to build another near there, now having an international and non-eclectic architecture as it is in the old building, with a high interconnection of roads and subways to connect the city that was there. The works began next month and in December 1945, near Christmas the airport was inaugurated with the first trip to Milan's destination. The old building was renovated and a part of it became the administrative center, while a part became a museum.
In the 50s and 60s the airport had more than 10,000 people visiting every day stimulating billions in tourism, in 1965 during the liberal government the airport was privatized in favor of a consortium of its own and so received regional and foreign capital making small reforms annually. In 1983 during an incident caused that they were tripled the amounts of security and medical care, becoming one of the safest.
In the last 20 years the airport has had a new command administered by the current president of the consortium Duke Emiglio Vonnazi, which attracted more tourists and improved the local infrastructure.
