The Universal Assembly of Workers
The World's largest federation of trade unions!

The Universal Assembly of Workers aims to be the worlds' largest trade union federation! Currently consisting of Banijan labor unions, it is expanding towards a global focus and is looking to become a trade union federation with branches all over the world. The aim is that unions, working together across national and international borders, will better be able to fight for the rights of their members and of working class people in every country in the globe.

The Universal Assembly of Workers, also known as the UAW for short, is not directly affiliated with any political party in Banija.

Basic Information About the Universal Assembly of Workers

In the ever globalizing economy, the rights of workers are becoming harder and harder to protect. Outsourcing is easier, and with the growth of free trade agreements, it creates a race to the bottom. Globalization can be helpful to all involved- if it is done correctly. This organization is forming as an international federation of trade unions so that workers everywhere have a voice, no matter which country they are born in.

What does the Universal Assembly of Workers do?

The UAW will fight for the rights of workers in all of its members organizations. We will train CBA negotiators in each of our member unions, we will support and supplement strike funds of all labor union members, and will fight for the right to collectively bargain in each nation around the world. The UAW will support union membership drives, and of course the union will support union certification drives, to make sure that workers who want to join or form a union will not be denied the right to collectively bargain.

Why join the Universal Assembly of Workers?

The Universal Assembly of Workers will be beneficial to everybody involved. Along with strengthening your own union, the UAW will help your union grow. The UAW will help grow your political clout, because you now have access to other unions. And, of course, workers unifying around the globe will help make sure that workers everywhere enjoy the collective benefits of globalization, rather than just a select few nations.

Who runs this organization?

This organization is ran by a board of directors, which consists of the permanent representative of every single member union. The permanent representative will work at the UAW headquarters. The current General-Secretary of the organization is 40 year old Omar Kambi. The Board of directors is officially titled the 'Regents of the UAW', and are ultimately responsible for the decisions of the organization. Omar Kambi is hired by the Regents, and answers to the Regents collectively.

Who is Omar Kambi?

Omar Kambi is the 40 year old General-Secretary of the Universal Assembly of Workers. Formerly the Vice President of the Transport Workers Union, he was a surprise choice to head the organization. He ran on the initiative of international expansion, and firmly believes that this move will pay dividends both at home and abroad.

Who are the current members of the Regents of the UAW?

Where are the UAW headquarters?

They are located in Jinja City. This is the capitol of the Hangaza region and Banija's 2nd largest city, with 2.5 million people.

I have an OOC question:

I kinda want to join, this seems cool; however, I'm not really sure how to make it work.
This is because as a revolutionary syndicalist nation, the workers have control of the means of production and industries through Workers' Councils.

I guess I could have my Workers' Councils join to help spread workers' rights.

The separate Workers Councils joining would make sense!
