Developed from a requirement for an inertial guidance system that is accurate at all altitudes and velocities to within a meter of GPS referenced positioning but without a need to reference GPS satellites or any communications interface to self-locate, the TM3 Nav Suite represents a massive advancement in inertial guidance. TM3 only periodically references GPS as a redundant calibration check, however the system is considered 99.5% accurate even during extreme movements or at very high speeds. In the Timing & Inertial Measurement Unit, (TIMU) dozens of tiny blown, ground and polished quartz "mushroom" and "wineglass" gyroscopic sensors are coupled to a powerful master clock and also linked to dual acceleratometers and magnetometers. The TIMU measures six axes of rotation, synchronized in real time and sensor fused to provide highly accurate tracking of time, altitude, distance and course. When coupled to an encrypted communication network such as SANMEN, the TIMU enables precise turn-by-turn directions to be downloaded as changes to mission profiles are uplinked by command and permits Blue Force Tracking to maintain an accurate fix on the position of the aircraft with a very low degree of error and without reliance on satellite positioning systems.

Synchronized and GPS/Blue Force Tracking-updated maps can be displayed with updated targeting information shared by all users of the SANMEN network, with mission paths laid out pre-mission or updated while the aircraft is in flight. "Crowdsourcing" intelligence in this way allows the central command structure the clearest picture of what is happening on rapidly evolving battlespaces and allows impromptu changes in mission routes to be distributed to assets throughout the battlespace which, with the help of their onboard navigation suites, change course when new targets are identified and navigate to waypoints, targets or destinations without the need to rely on a satellite connection for positioning information. A ring-laser gyroscope provides a secondary, redundant but highly accurate reference which is used for constant check and recalibration of the TIMU system. The extremely accurate information generated by the Tetsudo Mk. II guidance system is capable of delivering the vessel on target with pinpoint accuracy, in most cases inside three meters of the predesignated point, all without any reference to global positioning satellites whatsoever and only using onboard communications receivers for mid-course correction.

The A281 warhead is the larger of the two military warheads accepted for use by the Forces Marquises aux Armes, in use on the Witiko Supersonic Standoff Cruise Missile, and the Immortal-II Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missile. A281 is an airburst munition, designed to detonate at 2.05 kilometers altitude. The warhead burns tritium to increase the fusion yield of the two stage weapon, with a gold tamper which increases the X-ray pressure on the weapon, helping it to be more compact than designs using a natural uranium tamper. A281 produces a 140 kilopascal pressure wave at 30 kilometers distance with higher air pressures closer to the detonation. The pressure of this 1,438 kiloton yield is sufficient to completely destroy the center of a major city or a large formation of surface warships, which is the more likely tactical use of such a weapon. Despite its immense destructive power, this is a low-fallout weapon, which has been approved for tactical use by the MFA against high value strategic and tactical targets which must be completely destroyed humanely without undue expenditure of manpower resources.

The S307 warhead is a contact detonation warhead of compact, lightweight design which allows it to be mounted in a variety of weapon systems. S307's are in use throughout the Forces Marquises aux Armes in five torpedo and missile systems. The warhead is a high-fusion yield design which uses a gold tamper to increase radiation pressure in the weapon, which uses tritium to enhance the fusion yield. The purpose of deploying a contact detonation warhead in military use is for crushing heavily reinforced bunkers. Upon detonation, the S307 warhead produces enormous pressure. In a contact detonation role, the weapon will penetrate roughly 6 meters into the earth before detonation, producing a crater 300 meters in diameter and 70 meters in depth; this would hurl an enormous expanse of highly irradiated soil and debris skyward, but importantly would create a 20,000+ kilopascal pressure spike. In a torpedo role, the weapon would create a 260 meter fireball in direct contact with a warship or submarine, adequate to completely destroy the vessel it made contact with and critically damage a very large formation of others nearby.

The A258 warhead was developed to miniaturize the Marquesan boosted-fission warhead down to the smallest practical point. The final design weighs roughly half the finished weight of the next largest S307, and roughly a third the weight of the A281. The compact dimensions and light weight of the physics package allow for mounting in the EIS.154R2 "Hydra" missile, in this role used as an extremely high speed, high-altitude interceptor for reconnaissance aircraft and extremely high priority air targets, such as formations of intercontinental-range standoff bombers, or large numbers of falling re-entry vehicles. The 215 kiloton yield of the A258 warhead produces a 50+ kilometer fireball at a design altitude between 30 and 40 kilometers with negligible effect at ground level and no radioactive fallout.

The 127/B2-73SR twin naval gun mount, often referred to by its development codename, Janus, is an adaptation of the Anagonian 73-Caliber, 5" (127mm) Super Rapid Gun, or A5-73SR, a weapon employed aboard Anagonian "Titus Bond" class heavy cruisers. The Janus mount duplicates the A5 gun in a single turret, with an enlarged, 900-round magazine beneath the gun and an autoloader capable of supplying both water-cooled barrels at 82 rounds per minute. Firing unitary 127x860mm brass-cased and electrically-primed ammunition, spent shells are ejected from the rear of the low-RCS gun shield. The gun operates on a 4,000mm power-assisted "fast" barbette, which is employed on several Marquesan ships, along with classes operated by allied nations abroad, such as Der RE's Tempestas class destroyer leader, and the Nachmerean Navy's Shaldag-class corvette. The gun carries three types of ammunition, selectable in fire-strings of 8, 16 or 32 round bursts. (in 3, 6 or 12 seconds, respectively) Each ammunition type varies in range, accuracy, and construction; the heaviest, armor piercing round has a tungsten-carbide ballistic cap and a high-strength steel case, designed to penetrate warship armor or concrete bunkers at just over 10.6 miles maximum range. A lighter, prefragmented, multimode round can be fired at nearly 26 miles range against 100-meter point targets, with a multimode laser fuze which can detonate in proximity, impact, or delay settings to defeat a wide variety of surface or air targets. A finned, precision-guided Type-C round carries an internal Inertial Navigation System and a long-wave infrared seeker in its elongated nosecone, fired with a protective sabot to prevent the round's fins from interacting with the barrel. Once free of the barrel, the round can travel to 70.4 miles, and corrects its flight path 10 times per second; at its apogee of roughly 2,500 meters altitude, it begins searching for the target using its infrared sensor; gliding for between 100-160 seconds, and then commencing a near-vertical top down attack lasting roughly 10 seconds, with either impact or delay settings depending on the target.

The "Minerva" system evolved from weapon and systems developed for other purposes, combined together to create a powerful Close-In-Weapon-System for general use on Marquesan and allied warships. The Minerva Combined Arms Defense System, or CADS for short combines the powerful 38x290mm "Twin-Triples" rotary gun with two low-profile four-round launchers for "Bayonet" heat-seeking missiles mounted to a low-profile turret, wider than it is tall. The long, counter-rotating barrels of the gun produce very high muzzle velocity with half-kilogram PHEI "thin-wall" shells, which detonate in proximity to the target with hypervelocity shockwaves which interact with each other, producing mach stems that tear apart airborne targets like missiles, drones and aircraft. The super-agile Bayonet missile has a very long range for a compact weapon of its type, able to destroy targets out to nearly 90 kilometers, greater than 50 miles. Bayonet flies above Mach 4 and rolls to turn against its targets at 100 g. The high-definition thermal seeker and annular blast-fragmentation warhead carried by AHM.201R2 makes it deadly, combining a long, wide no-escape zone, excellent high altitude performance and speed that permits it to chase and intercept supersonic aircraft in tail-on engagements up to 20,000 meters altitude. Fire control for the gun is provided by a fixed-panel "Deneb" AESA radar, utilizing the latest in low-power solid-state radar technology to produce an ultra compact design that fits on the turret face and provides extremely accurate ballistics data and targeting for the rotary gun out to its maximum point-target range. Optical targeting is provided by an independent "Volans" Optronics Ball mounted to the turret, with a powerful telephoto zoom attached to the central lens of a Focal Plane Array camera that aligns M/LWIR sensors and visible light CCD's together to provide ultra high resolution targeting out to extreme distances and in poor weather. The sophisticated Volans ball is highly resistant to battlefield obscurants like dust and oil smoke, poor weather and directed energy countermeasures; it provides optical targeting which is fused to the output of the turret's radar and used for tracking high speed and low-RCS targets caught in its protective envelope.

- Description: -
CANDELS stands for Canisterized Delivery Standard, and describes a fully-modular missile storage and delivery system for Marquesan-built warships. CANDELS launchers are loaded at port or at sea by overhead crane; each missile is pre-loaded into a dry storage container which integrates an annular exhaust system, so that the missile's hot exhaust is diverted safely upward at the moment of launch. The container's outer lid is spring-loaded, operated by a magnetic lock, which is disengaged at the moment of ignition. After firing, the container's lid is brought back down by an electric motor and the electo-magnetic lock re-engaged, to seal the launcher. The inner lid, also spring loaded, is released by explosive bolts, fired at the moment of ignition, only then exposing the missile. Once fired, the closing of the outer lid shuts the inner canister lid. Launchers can exhaust their entire magazine in sequential-fire, ripple-fire or individually-selected firing sequences, with firing order and targeting data provided by the ship's sensors. CANDELS launchers equip a wide array of Marquesan warships and classes operated by allied nations and foreign customers, and can be armed with any missile fitting within the cell dimensions, thanks to a modular electronics suite capable of recreating any known solid-fueled missile's wiring loom with minimal preparatory work.

CANDELS-I launchers are above-deck arm-type launchers, carryingeight missiles in airtight, watertight Fiber-Reinforced Polymer launch cells, which are opened at the moment of launch. Rocket exhaust from the missile firing blows through the rear of the tube as the missile exits, and missiles begin their arming sequences once free of the launcher. The launchers integrate with shipborne electro-optical and radar fire control, which interface with the missile's own optical trackers once armed, providing an extremely high kill-ratio for missiles fires from the C-I launcher, which is just under 3.8 meters in width, just over 3.5 meters in length and 2.5 meters in height, with a loaded system weight of 13.3 tons including its below-deck magazine and autoloader.

CANDELS-II launchers are vertical launch systems for arrays of 16 tactical-length missiles, such as Morningstar cruise missiles, Corseque radar-homing missiles and Pilum hypersonic interceptors. The C-II launcher can also be configured to fire Varuna artillery rockets, which have launch cells half the size of the larger missiles, allowing a single ship to carry a wide array of weapons. The 16-missile system is 4.05 meters in length and width, requiring 6 meters below deck and adequate structural reinforcement around the array.

CANDELS-III describes a much larger system of 64 strike-length missiles, such as the long-range, high-supersonic Ahriman SAM, the Sarissa anti-ship missile, or the Trishula rocket-launched torpedo. Each C-III array is 7.05 meters in length, 7.8 meters in width and requires 8 meters below deck to contain the sealed missile canisters and structural reinforcement around the array.

CANDELS-IV describes a 16-missile array for large-frame heavyweight missiles such as the Hydra anti-ballistic missile, the Summanus hypersonic boost-glide missile and Makara theater ballistic missile. The massive size and weight of these missiles dictates that a large amount of structural reinforcement is between each rank of cells, and the entire array is 6.7 meters in length and 7.5 meters in width as a result, requiring 12 meters below decks. Fully loaded, the C-IV vertical launch system can weigh as much as 144 tons, but can be configured with any number of weapons systems, altering the absolute maximum weight of the final configuration. C-IV launchers equip the Strix-class nuclear attack submarine, which briefly surfaces to fire its complement of long-range strategic missiles.

CANDELS-V is an entirely different system, cold-launching SLBM's while the submarine is submerged at a depth of 50 meters, with the assistance of a high-capacity gas generator to fire 43.7-ton Immortal-II's without exposing the Ravana-class submarines that carry CANDELS-V.

The AEV.1650 "Elpis" is an ultralight electric 4x4 combat support vehicle in broad serial use across the Forces Marquises aux Armes. 15 feet in length and 7 in with, Elpis is easily air-transportable by a wide variety of Marquesan-built or foreign aircraft and helicopters. The vehicle weighs 1.65 tons empty, and can carry 1,400 kilograms of human and equipment payload on its sturdy welded steel tube-trellis frame, covered in lightweight aluminum bodywork. Laid into the floor of the Elpis 4x4 is an array of lithium ion batteries, 240 cells in all. These batteries provide power for wheel-mounted electromagnetic traction motors, which silently propel Elpis to speeds up to 130 Km/H, for up to 660 kilometers due to the high efficiency of its modern PM motors and lithium batteries. Description:

The LRR.110.L/31 recoilless rifle, known by its development codename, "Vipère", is a crew-served infantry weapon employed by the Forces Marquises aux Armes and allies abroad. The weapon is transported on a lightweight wheeled carriage, with a pintle-style weapon mount that permits 360° traverse in its combat configuration with wheels stowed. In a travel configuration, the wheels are locked in a vertical configuration and the barrel is stowed against the weapon's towbar, making it compact and simple to transport being towed behind almost any motorized vehicle, or moved short distances by its three-man crew. The barrel is composed of a high-strength, high-temperature Inconel superalloy outer sleeve, and a special, ultrahard titanium carbonitride-coated titanium rifled inner sleeve are both lightweight and extremely strong; the titanium liner is replaceable in the field with a quick-disconnect camlock style detachment. The weapon is loaded from the breech; when fired, the CTRR, or Case-Telescoped Recoilless Rifle design vents backward through a venturi, equalizing pressure on both sides of the barrel and negating the felt recoil of the powerful 1,045mm length cartridges. The primary ammunition type was developed with the rifle, and is referred to as the HEILR missile. HEILR stands for High-Explosive Incendiary, Laser-Riding; the 11-kilogram round contains an ultralight 5.2-kilogram missile, which relies on spin stabilization for stability in flight and leaves the muzzle at 620 meters per second, or Mach 1.8. The fuze is decoupled from the spinning body by a bearing ring; fins on the fuze provide steering input, and a laser spot receiver receives reflected laserlight from a properly-encoded battlefield laser. Once the round has left the barrel, it has sufficient energy to maneuver against a moving target at distances up to 1,200 meters. When fired at fixed targets, the round does not expend energy in flight maneuvering, and can strike point targets at 7,600 meters distance. The 2-kilogram high explosive warhead contains a 2:1 mixture of CL-20 and HMX high explosives, a shock-insensitive but extremely powerful mixture, blended with 10% beryllium powder to create a powerful incendiary effect, sufficient to defeat 620mm of modern armor. The Vipère recoilless rifle is capable of a sustained rate-of-fire of 8 rounds per minute, operating with a crew of three comprised of a spotter with a laser designator, the rifle gunner, and a loader.

Description:

Bridging the gap between heavier towed or self-propelled howitzers and lighter infantry mortars, the MLR 155mm "Ōtsuchi" heavy mortar is a towed artillery piece designed for high-elevation fire from a compact, breech-loading barrel. The barrel itself, 155mm in internal diameter and 15 calibers long, is a two-piece construction, with a high-strength, high temperature Inconel superalloy outer sleeve, and a superhard titanium carbonitrate-coated titanium inner barrel sleeve saves weight while allowing the inner sleeve to be replaced in the field as it wears out without rebuilding the entire piece. Known by its development codename, the Ōtsuchi mortar is named after a traditional spiked war club used for breeching doors and walls. Designed to be towed behind a wide array of wheeled or tracked vehicle, the 155mm mortar travels with mortar teams behind their vehicles, and is pushed into final position by its mortar team. In a travel configuration, the mortar's barrel is fixed to the tow bar, allowing for simple, expedient transport. When deployed, the mortar's baseplate rests on the ground and the wheels are elevated; the barrel, free of its travel lock, can elevate up to 90°, and the entire assembly can traverse 360° in only 18 seconds with a gear-assisted fast manual traverse. The recoil carriage uses hydropneumatic unpowered dampers to absorb the barrel's rearward motion on firing, with a mature, well-developed recoil system that is robust and reliable. The mortar is capable of sustaining 20 rounds per minute with a wide variety of shells, each contained in a 1,520mm Case-Telescoped combustible shell which simplifies transport of live ammunition. Four ammunition types are used by the MRR.155.L/15; the lightest, aerodynamic shell has a long-wave infrared (LWIR) sensor in its nosecone, activated once the round has crossed its ballistic apogee. Type-B ammunition is "dumb" high-explosive, steel case ammunition, fuzed either for impact or time delay, ideal for destruction of buildings in urban combat. Type-C ammunition carries 10x 2-kilogram prefragmented high-explosive cluster munitions, which are fuzed to airburst at 5m above ground level. Type-D heavy armor piercing shells weigh 44.1 kilograms, comprised of a heavy steel case with tungsten ballistic cap, and a high explosive filler. Type-D ammunition is fuzed for impact delay, allowing it to penetrate into hardened and reinforced concrete or rock before detonating, transmitting most of its kinetic energy downward into the target rather than upward into an explosive plume.

Description:

A requirement for a lightweight, low-recoil field gun capable of being towed behind AEV.1650 "Elpis" electric prime movers resulted in the OLR.110 L/34 "Tempête" howitzer. Just over 3 tons in overall weight, the OLR.110, often known simply as the "110 Gun" mounts a 1.65 ton, 3.74 meter rifled barrel, with a horizontal, semi-automatic sliding wedge breech, firing 110x410mm low-pressure ammunition. The howitzer's box-trail carriage contains hydropneumatic dampers, which absorb the recoil of the gun and allow it to be fired with its wheels on the ground, speeding its transition time from march to firing. The gun can elevate to 80 degrees, and traverses a full circle in 7.5 seconds due to its gear-assisted manual traverse, and low-friction coated bearings. Ammunition is electrically primed, with a piezoelectric circuit in the breech block which produces near-perfect reliability. The gun produces highly accurate 3-dimensional gun laying and inertial targeting with ring laser gyroscopes and a computerized impact predictor that produces sub-5,000mm Circular Error Probable at the gun's maximum range. The Tempête howitzer is equipped with three ammunition types; Type-A is a heavy armor-piercing round with a tungsten ballistic cap. Type-B ammunition is a high-capacity HESH, or High-Explosive Squash Head, which reduces concrete structures by smashing its explosive payload against a structure before detonating with a minute delay, widening the detonation and producing large holes, even in heavily-reinforced concrete walls. Type-C ammunition uses a gas-generating base bleed unit and a long, aerodynamic lightweight nosecone to travel to more than 14 miles maximum distance, delivering its high explosive payload and prefragmented steel body at Mach 2.42 muzzle velocity, nearly twice the speed of Type-A APBC, and more than three times the range.

Description: Developed in secret as a collaborative effort between Arvolken and Marquesan designers and engineers, the Hermès diplomatic transport incorporates many borrowed technologies from the "Rakinui" Mag-Lev trains in service in both countries. It is currently restricted to government-only use, however proposals to market civilian-oriented versions of the car are underway. Hermès is built around a monolithic "bathtub" constructed from a mixture of kevlar and nomex fibers; 30mm in thickness, this rigid structure is the central stressed member of the vehicle's frame, making the vehicle both lightweight and extremely strong. Nickel/Iron/Molybdenum magnetic insulation prevents passengers from being exposed to the intense magnetic fields generated by the vehicle's dual electric motors. Beneath the vehicle's flat floor is a 500-cell, 50-module array of liquid-cooled lithium ion batteries, which store energy used to power and propel the vehicle. Forward and behind this bathtub frame are 400-kilowatt electric motors, which propel all wheels with silent AC power, biasing power automatically to the wheels with the most grip in a continuously-variable AWD system. All four wheels steer by computer control, and are suspended by electromagnetic ride control, which continuously varies ride characteristics 10 times per second to optimize sound levels, grip and ride height for the speeds and terrain. Braking is regenerative, accomplished with inboard-mounted disc brakes which convert mechanical force into electric energy, spinning resistance flywheels by direct drive. Hermès charges its batteries continuously by converting ultraviolet and infrared light into energy through a transparent photovoltaic (PV) roof array. All Hermès glass is constructed in 30mm thick laminate from multiple thin plates of Aluminum Oxynitride, (ALON) with an active, powered silver chloride layer, which darkens automatically by computer control, optimizing the light level in the vehicle continuously. Exterior panels of the vehicle are constructed from thick, press-formed sheets of forged carbon fiber, which lend an extremely low coefficient of drag to the low-slung, aerodynamic shape. While the body panels are not bullet-resistant, the passenger compartment with all glass is rated to resist 8mm armor-piercing ammunition fired from rotary, or "gatling gun" style weapons. The vehicle's interior is richly appointed with extensive sound deadening, custom-dyed doeskin leather throughout, and the very latest secure encrypted communications suite. Cabin air is continuously filtered for nuclear, biological, and chemical contaminants; the rear seats have completely independent climate control, which can be sealed off from the front seats by way of a transparent panel which raises between the seats. Hermès transports are common sights on Marquesan embassies and consulates, in broad domestic use as a lightweight transport for high-ranking government and military officials. At its maximum loaded weight, the vehicle has more than 440 horsepower per ton, and accelerates to 100 Km/H in under 3 seconds, with a 300 Km/H top speed, limited by the architecture and endurance of its runflat tires. At a maximum, Hermès can travel 600 kilometers between recharges which, if using a high-wattage external charger, can be as short as 15 minutes.

The TLH.72 Battlefield Laser, codenamed "Electra" during its development for the Kylarnatian Imperial Army's Usermaatra Program is a 73-ton tracked specialist vehicle designed for serial production in the Imperium Antiquum Kylarnatiae. Usermaatra is designed around a massive turbine powerplant, the MTV45.112R mid-bypass turbofan engine core, adapted as a turboshaft engine, with a free power turbine in place of the Reheat stage. The TSF.45/112 Free Power Turboshaft engine is a massive 1.5 ton, 4.8 meter long engine mounted longitudinally at the rear of the vehicle, with its intake on the top of the vehicle, behind the laser weapon mount. The free power turbine sits in the exhaust path, geared to a 10MW permanent magnet DC electric generator. The massive power the engine generates is held in a network of lithium imide batteries and graphene capacitors which are installed in the floor of the vehicle under internal access doors. These vehicles can store an immense amount of electrical power, of which only 10% is allocated for propulsion of the vehicle. The remainder of its power is held in reserve for the massive 1-megawatt Battlefield Laser mounted on a remote weapon station. The FL126M is an array of 10x 100-kilowatt Ytterbium-doped optical fiber-based cutting lasers, focused in a specially-designed fresnel lens into a single beam of immense power. Usermaatra stores enough energy for 38 shots on the battlefield before the vehicle needs to retire for charging; its 390 kilometer range is limited by Usermaatra's internal fuel storage; the capacitors must be charged in a high-amperage charging cradle which travels with the Imperial Army's logistics train. The white-hot beam of Usermaatra's cutting laser generates an immense of ozone gas when fired, requiring troops in the area to be wearing protective masks during firing; the lightning-like sound of the laser firing is sufficient to shatter windows at several kilometers distance. FL126M shots have an unrestricted line-of-sight distance; the sheer power of the laser overwhelms almost any atmospheric conditions, which allows the weapon to be fired in all weather, day or night.
