Today the Federal Trade Commission passed a regulation, with Congressional Legislation pending, to ban the expansion of any business using or soliciting forced labor from expanding into the UCS. Such a regulation had never existed before, simply because no one thought it was needed. It was believed that everyone understood slavery was immoral, on every possible level. That believe was challenged when a corporation priding itself on selling slaves recently attempted to begin expansion into the UCS.
The staff at the Foreign Business Center in Beaumont believed the application for assistance with the licencing processes was submitted, until they looking into the company that submitted it. Instead of responding to the application, it was turned over to the FTC to handle.
