Northern Airways Has done a special flight to ring in the new year. Northern flight 9991 departed Lexian at 11:00 PM UTC-5 on 12/31/17 for a two hour New Years flight aboard a 747-400. The flight will land at 01:00 AM UTC-5 on 01/01/18 at Paradise Gate International Airport, as the first touchdown of the new year and it will signify the first flight of the new year. Drinks and a celebration were held on the flight to ring in the new year up at 24,000 feet. The flight left at capacity and is a smashing success. Once the wheels touch down, the new year will have officially begun for Northern Airways and its subsidiaries. Come join us for the new year of travels to follow in 2018.

Northern Airways has taken delivery of the first new plane of 2018. The plane is an Airbus A380, the first ordered for Northern Airways. It arrived on its delivery flight at 13:00 PM EST at Paradise Gate International Airport, sporting the new livery that is on a quarter of our active fleet. This comes not only as the first delivery of the A380 superjumbo for Northern Airways, but also the introduction of our new premium First Class seating, known as "The Penthouse". Before introduction into scheduled passenger service, the plane will do a world tour, as the A350 did previously, to test its operational capability at the international airports on our route network, as well as demonstrate the new plane and the new premium first class seating. We look forward to the remaining 11 planes entering service by the end of this year.

Due to rave reviews of the new A380 (Registered A9-421), Northern Airways has leased 5 more. 3 of the planes, A380-841s, equipped with RR Trent 970 engines, have come from Star Alliance airline partner Singapore Airlines, who were replacing them with newer aircraft. There is the possibility to purchase the planes outright if the need grows beyond the planes ordered. The other two planes, A380-842s, equipped with RR Trent 972 engines have come from Arthropol Air Lease for 6 month durations, possibly returned earlier if the A380s on order arrive earlier than expected. With these 5 planes, that brings our current A380 fleet to 6 planes. We look forward to taking on more A380 planes in the future if the need grows and the planes remain in production.

Due to a major storm system within the European region, causing high winds, and dangerous approach conditions, flights heading to several European destinations have been delayed. Destinations affected are Amsterdam, London Heathrow, Brussels and Oslo. Main destination expecting delays is Amsterdam with winds gusting at 51 knots and over. Northern Airways will try to maintain flights to Amsterdam despite the wind conditions and diversions to alternate airports in Europe is to be expected. Flights currently in the air to Amsterdam are in holding patterns awaiting landing clearances or diverting to alternate airports. Current delays on departures from Amsterdam is 30 minutes but is expected to increase during the course of the day. Best to double check your flight before departure and if necessary, plan accordingly if a diversion to an alternate airport is needed. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Northern Airways is proud to announce service to several new destinations, as well as more flights to Arthropol City International Airport due to immense popularity and the planes leaving at or beyond capacity. The new destinations are:

1: Nice Côte d’Azur Airport serving the cities of Nice, Arthropol and Monaco, Monaco, operated by Boeing 777-200ER planes.

2: Pyongyang Sunan Airport, serving the city of Pyongyang, operated by a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.

3: Seoul Incheon Airport, serving the city of Seoul operated by a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.

4: Gimhae International Airport, serving the city of Busan, operated by a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.

5: Jeju International Airport serving the city of Jeju operated by a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.

Aircraft assigned to these routes may change depending on demand and season. Boeing 777-200ER planes will fly the initial routes, but the planes may change.

Northern Airways, at the request of the DAA (Dreamliner Aviation Authority) has altered the registrations used on its aircraft across all subsidiaries. This is to simplify registration applications for both commercial planes and general aviation planes operating within the nation. Instead of the old format of A9-XXX, the new format is A9-XXXXX. Registrations and fleet numbers will not be changed, but will be altered to reflect the new system. (Ex: A9-145 will become A9-10145). We apologize for any confusion this system change has caused to our partners and airports where we fly into, but we hope this change will prevent confusion in the long run.

Northern Airways is proud to announce attendance to the Arthropol Air Show with a variety of planes, as well as demonstrating the new "Penthouse" interior coming into service on 747-8 and A380 aircraft. This is also the debut for "Project Phoenix" a Boeing 787-8 that used to serve with Air Atlantique until it was severely damaged by fire in a maintenance accident and subsequently written off. Northern Engineering has worked tirelessly to bring the aircraft back into service, and they were successful in repairing the plane entirely to 'like new' condition. It has completed successful flight and ground testing and is deemed fit to re-enter service with Northern Airways, named "Phoenix" and registered A9-10500.

Charter carrier), and Polar Freight Express (the northern domestic freight carrier).

JSE (Jetliner Standard Engineering) is also going to demonstrate their new EAAP (Enhanced Aircraft and Avionics Package) now finished successful testing. The plane for the JSE EAAP demonstrator is the Boeing 767-300F(ER) freighter of Northern Cargo (N20109) (NC9901) it will also be hauling the Northern Airways "Penthouse" seating demonstrator and boxes of Northern Airways items (model planes, keytags, backpacks, T-shirts, etc.) for the Air Show.

Northern Airways is proud to announce new destinations added to the destination list. We are also proud to announce the orders for several new planes at the upcoming Arthropol Air show. They are orders for the Airbus A330neo for Northern Airways, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 for Northern Shuttle, the Airbus A320neo for Northern Shuttle, more 787 aircraft for Northern Airways. Orders for the Boeing 747-8 freighter for Northern Cargo as well as more orders for 767 freighters for Northern Cargo. More details will be announced at the air show including possibly more orders for planes for Northern Cityline and Northern Executive. Details on the orders are as follows: both variants of the A330neo will be ordered. The A320neo for Northern Shuttle will be the A320 variant. Engines for the A320neo will be the CFM LEAP-1A, until gearing and reliability problems are solved on the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines. Once those issues are solved, Northern Shuttle will order A320neo planes with the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines. Said issues are not the reason for choosing CFM for the initial orders for the A320neo, but more along the lines of procuring General Electric engines for incoming planes, excluding aircraft where other manufacturers are the sole engine options, like Rolls Royce with their Trent 7000 engines for the A330neo. The Boeing 787 aircraft order will be for the 787-9, engines will be supplied by General Electric and their GEnx, while also discussing options for more of the 787-8 planes.
