History
Canary Beach International Airport was built in 1954 as Canary Beach Air Field to serve the city of Canary Beach as a tourist destination. It originally had 1 single terminal and 1 runway.
In 1985, the airport's single runway was extended to accommodate newer jets and was repaved, closing the airport for 1 year. During that 1 year period, Canary Airport was opened adjacent to the current airport and now acts as Terminal 2.
The airport gained popularity very soon, with the rapid development of the city itself such as new luxury towers, hotels, a port, etc. Thus an open-air terminal opened along with Terminal 3.
