1990s: the beginnings of a network
PilipinasONE was launched on October 2,1990 as United Philippines Network Channel 1, founded by Spencer Cruz,a former journalist who is now the President of the PRP. Although the network faced steep competition, UPN managed to get 1st in the Philippines TV Survey in 1993, through its breakthrough achievements like establishing NoonNews, the first Philippine noontime broadcast, which still airs up to this date. The UPN also created Philippine versions of game shows like Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy! and the like. In 1997, UPN began to air in neighboring countries like Taiwan, and Guam. UPN also improved its signal quality through launching its new transmitter on May 1,1999 as the network braced for a new millennium. The network as well introduced a new logo and revamped its news programs. The View of the State won the Peabody award in 1999 for its coverage on Typhoon Pedro.
Transition to PilipinasONE
In 2001, UPN once again underwent major changes and rebranded as PilipinasONE. During this period, new shows like New Horizons and The Neighborhood, along with a new block called ONEKids were launched. In 2003, the new PilipinasONE Network Center was inaugurated, featuring new studios state-of-the-art facilities, and a Unity Garden which is the centerpiece of the Network Center.

A new management under Sison
In 2003, Cruz decided to run as senator for the 2004 elections and resigned as CEO of PilipinasONE Broadcasting Network and names Peter Sison as his successor, having a Doctor's degree in Broadcasting Management at the University of the Philippines and a 20-year experience as a newscaster. The network also underwent many changes, including a revamp with its news programs like Center News. PilipinasONE also changed its main color palette from Red, Green, and Blue, to Blue,Red, and Yellow. The network also focused on regional programming as the network allotted more slots for these.
Present day
Up to this day, PilipinasONE is the largest and most trusted network according to the TVPhil Survey in 2015. The network still continues to broadcast quality programs like adaptations of foreign shows like The Voice, and current affairs programs like Help O'Clock and Health Talk.
