About the University

The Teluk University of Irian Barat is rich in history - its famous Colleges and University buildings attract visitors from all over the world. But the University's museums and collections also hold many treasures which give an exciting insight into some of the scholarly activities, both past and present, of the University's academics and students.

The Teluk University of Irian Barat is one of the world's oldest universities and leading academic centres, and a self-governed community of scholars. Its reputation for outstanding academic achievement is known world-wide and reflects the intellectual achievement of its students, as well as the world-class original research carried out by the staff of the University and the School/Faculty. Many of the University's customs and unusual terminology can be traced to roots in the early years of the University's long history, and this booklet looks to the past to find the origins of much that is distinctive in the University of today.

Irian Barat’s leadership is responsible for the strategic vision for the University.
President Robin Hansen leads Teluk University, and is the 1st President of the University. President Hansen is the Professor of Applied Mathematic and Physical Theorist in Irian Barat’s Faculty of Mathematical Sciences. The focus of first leadership is to foster collaboration across the University and manages changes in policies and practices that affect the academic life of the university as a whole. The Schools are led by officers and deans, who are responsible for Teluk University’s academic programs and curricula.

The Republican Military College is military is an educational institution which prepares candidates for service in the officer corps of the army, the navy, marine corps, air force or coast guard. It normally provides education in a military environment, the exact definition depending on the country concerned. Three types of academy exist: high school-level institutions awarding academic qualifications, university-level institutions awarding bachelor's degree level qualification, and those preparing officer cadets for commissioning into the armed services of the state. University to University Partnership
There are three types of exchange programs for students whose institutions have a university-level student exchange agreement with Teluk University. They are:

• Short Program Summer School and Cultural Studies (2 Week-1 Month)
• Mid Program Student Exchange (6 Month- 1 Year)
• Double Degree and Sandwich Program (2 Year)

In every beginning of January, Teluk University sends the application guide for both programs to all partner universities. Application should be submitted to Teluk University through the international office of home institution. Direct application from students will not be accepted. Application deadline is September to start in April of the following year and February to start in October in the same year.
