The Zeus Maritime Industries Bellona-Class Submarine is a diesel-electric submarine developed by Zeus Maritime Industries and Zaphod Industries. It uses air-independent propulsion (AIP) for its power, which are powered by hydrogen fuel cells manufactured by Zaphod Industries. Named after the Roman goddess of war, it is designed to combat in both littoral and deep waters against ships and submarines, while, even though it is not configured for attack missions, it can carry out attacks via cruise missiles to a limited degree.
If the Victor-Class Attack Submarine brought focus to attack missions and brought the need for VLS cells on diesel-electric submarines, the Bellona-Class is made for those who pursue a powerful deterrent of enemy surface ships and submarines. Due to its size and mission, the Bellona-Class does not carry any VLS cells; however, it is capable of launching submarine-launched cruise missiles (anti-surface), torpedoes and even anti-air missiles such as the IDAS via its eight 533 mm (21 in) torpedo tubes, 4 of which are capable of launching AGM-501 Thor cruise missiles.
An astounding feature about the Bellona-Class is in its hull, which has been designed for elusive underwater warfare. Its hull has been designed to reduce sonar signature to 'a negligible degree', meaning that it will virtually be invisible from enemy sonar. Furthermore, its strong hull, along with its air-independent propulsion (AIP) system, enables the Bellona-Class to stay underwater for 14 consecutive days. The hull's design features also enable it to be extremely quiet, adding to its elusiveness to the enemy.
