Currency
Name of currency: Mubassirian Dollar
Symbol of currency: ‡ (MBD)
Population: 19,203,289
GDP: 788 Billion
Poverty Line: (Household of One: ‡14,720 Household of Two: ‡21,000 Household of Three: ‡25,100 Household of Four (Avg.): ‡30,320 Household of Five: ‡35,500 Household of Six: ‡40,900 Household of Seven: ‡45,800 Household of Eight: ‡51,150)
Average debt per citizen: ‡4,580
Average Savings per citizens: ‡6,874
Policies on inflation: The Royal Finance Committee presides over the monetary policy in Mubaru. The RFC, influences inflation by changing monetary policy (i.e Interest rates, Short-term/Long-term loan rates, selling and buying of bonds, ect.) The monetary policy in Mubaru changes over time, and information is not always available to the public, which sometimes causes a volatile market. The RFC seeks to maintain an inflation rate of 3% over time, and changes monetary policy according to the financial conditions as they change.
Policies on Business: The Kingdom of Mubaru encourages businesses run by catholic citizens, and gives tax breaks and subsidies to catholic, and non-for profit businesses in the Healthcare industry to promote catholic hospitals/wellness centers/ect. The Kingdom leaves all policy regarding business conduct to the respective districts, but this policy is monitored by the RFC. In this sense, there are large barriers to entry in the Kingdom, and most entrepreneurs must fit social and economic standards to succeed in the business world of Mubaru. Any new business must file with the RFC and obtain a socially acceptable fictitious business name to operate under. The RFC restricts monopolization by giving loans to smaller businesses, however maintains that the industries lead by the Royal Families of Mubaru, are superior in practice.
Policies on Banking: The RFC monitors banking heavily in the Kingdom, and if any bank is to provide a loan to a non-catholic business, the loan request must first be approved by the RFC. Loan policies are strict, and the RFC monitors all banking activity of certain businesses that do not fit the "social or economic standards of acceptable business practice in Mubaru" (i.e Predominately Islamic Businesses and households, Businesses that deal with foreign investors.)
Other Policies on currency:
Strongest Industries: Mining, Maritime Engineering (Ship Building/Breaking), Medicine/Pharmaceuticals.

Does anyone else think a region wide currency would be a good idea? It could also be a secondary currency, where the nation could accept their current as well as the regional currency. I'd be willing to make a dispatch for it.

My own nation would be against a regional currency that encompasses itself, just because they rely so much on their currency to control their economy. To even make a regional currency a secondary currency would diminish their control, so under no circumstances would they be open to a regional currency.

Now onto the OOC stuff such as the impact of a regional currency which most other people will take issue with. The biggest reason this idea has been shot down before is because it allows recessions to ripple through all the interconnected economies which can damage the stability of peoples nations. Alongside this you loose the advantage of multiple types of currencies, namely the inflation being adjusted to each individual nations circumstance. Because each of our nations operate under different financial principles that range the gauntlet from completely communism to laissez faire capitalism, having a single currency to cover different situation can be difficult. Lastly, there is a degree of autonomy that is loss and no all nations are willing to surrender the autonomy to foreigners or boards.

As to how to implement it if you still wish to go with it, and I do recommend you go with it just because its a interesting point to roleplay about. I would think taking it before the league or establish some Trade union which has a single currency like the EU would be a good idea.

Possible Trade Bereau

Postby The Catholic States Of Caden » Sat Jun 13, 2015 2:55 pm

I was thinking of starting a trade bureau that would involve some of the smaller less well off economies within the region to better help increase our overall power. The only downside is that bigger, stronger nations will be exempt from joining.

What is your definition of bigger and stronger.

What would this trade bureau do and how will it help those that join it?

The Nation of The Republic of The Catholic States Of Caden provide that they pledge religious allegiance to Laude Mousa IV in exchange for The Kingdom of Mubaru's aid in our Catholic businesses, as well as dissolve any and all trade restrictions that may have existed between our nations and stimulate said trade.

What will be traded on top of this is indeed, Not yet decided and will be discussed as of this time. But it can be expected that it will benefit both economies effectively.

I need a poverty line to determine the at home purchasing power of your dollar.

In other news I proudly present the first set of exchange rates pegged to the Nationstates dollar, these are the rates of everyone who has applied for this program. IF you think there is something off about this numbers and you would like to know more please ask, if you have evidence for why they should be higher please talk to me, if you think their fine then feel free to use them. These were primarily based on the purchasing power of your dollar with some consideration given to your various policies and how well cash flowed(This was the biggest kicker for most of you, high savings and low debt meant capital was stuck in the banks.)

The NSD Standard
Randmar Dollar(-R-) = 0.96 | Svalbard Polar(=P=) = 0.80 | Jamaar Writ(Ɉ) = 0.96 | Jyen(₹)= 0.84 | Zagorias(ठ) = 1.09 | Mubassrian Dollar (‡)= 1.04 |*Xhendal (♃)= 0.88 *| Kiov(Ϡ) = 0.98 | Verdonian Dollar(V) = 1.01 |Dopp(<D>)= 0.81 | Valliari(îVî) = 0.81 | Złoty (-Z-) = ??? |

These exchange rates are set to the Nationstates Dollar or NSD, so one Randmar Dollar can be converted in 96 cents in NSD and from there it can be traded in for 1.04 Zagorias. What this means is that this scale does not show the value of one Randmar Dollar to one Jamaar writ or any other currency, please keep this in mind.

Something tells me that the conversion example is worded wrongly. Let me go through this quickly.
-R- 1 = $NSD 0.96
ठ1.04 = $NSD 0.96 -> ठ1.09 ~= $NSD 1.00?

So in your example, -R- is given as -R- 1 = $NSD x, but the other is given as $NSD 1 = ठx

Which conversion method is being used? $NSD 1 to x of the given currency or 1 of the given currency to $NSD x? I personally find the former more intuitive and think that it should be used, but with the way that you worded it some clarification is needed as the chart's conversion method isn't consistent in your example.

Policies on Business: Lare buisnesses in Segentova tend to be STRICTLY regulated, if they slip up ever so slightly they may be fined large ammounts and may even be reorganized by the government. Alright I resolved a core issue if you hand a teller 1.04-R- you could receive 1.00 NSD or the stated amount in any other currency.

The NSD worth is around the USD but it is special in the regards that it does not fluctuate like the USD making it a perfect if unrealistic standard. The above Standard is useful to establish a single currency rate rather than a single currency having a dozen exchange rates with others.
