UNIT PRICE: $4,800,000 (AG-14A1 - see below for more information)
DPR (Combined): $12,500,000,000

The Zeus Defense Industries AG-14 Ares is a light tank/armored fighting vehicle aimed for service in armed forces around the world seeking light tanks and/or armored fighting vehicles that can take on against heavily armored vehicles and provide fire support. Its first introduction in late 2014, the AG-14 Ares features state-of-the-art technology that make it one of the most survivable armored fighting vehicles currently on market, while still having robust attack capabilities. It features some technologies that were used to develop the AG-20 White Tiger MGS.

Design

Armament

The AG-14 Ares is primarily armed with a 105 mm/120 mm rifled gun, which is on the unmanned turret system that manages the weapons of the AG-14. The 105 mm /120 mm rifled gun is capable of launching HEAT, APFSDS and even the newest smart top-attack munitions, if chosen the latter. Furthermore, the rifled gun, through technological advances (and in the case of the latter), is even able to launch a gun-launched, laser-guided anti-tank guided missile (ATGM), enhancing its anti-vehicle/anti-helicopter capability. In addition to the rifled gun, the unmanned turret is capable of holding a 7.62 mm coaxial gun and a 7.62 mm/12.7 mm MG/40 mm Grenade RCWS.

Armor and Countermeasures

Given its requirements to reduce weight and similar to the AG-20 White Tiger line, the AG-14 has a multiple layer armor (with S-2 glass fiber and ceramic complex) including lightweight aluminium alloy, which has contributed to high armor capabilities while not taking up as much weight. Furthermore, additional armor panels, with the option of them becoming (N)ERA, are mounted on the turret and hull, ensuring better protection against incoming projectiles. These armor panels are said to be positioned and internally structured to be radar wave-absorbent and minimizing infrared signature, giving emphasis to the low observability the AG-14 has been required to have.

Like the AG-20, the AG-14 Ares is armed with the 'Ares-U' Active Protection System. Its millimeter-wave radar, having four modular panels, enables a 360-degree detection capability, along with the Advanced Projectile Detector (APD), which has incorporated a bit of technology used on fighter sensors to enhance IR detection capability. Once a projectile is detected, the on-board computer analyzes and calculated the vectors almost instantly, while classifying the projectile. Then, soft-kill countermeasures are launched - smoke grenades that can blind the enemy from visual, IR and, to some extent, radar detection are fired. If the soft-kill countermeasures fail, it's time for the hard-kill system to swing into motion: as it calculates the trajectory almost instantly, the neutralizers are fired, destroying the enemy attack. With this, the 'Ares-U' features a robust capability against ATGM's and anti-tank rockets. However, in addition to this, the 'Ares-U's upgrades are scheduled to make the system even capable of dealing with high-speed means of attack, such as HEAT, APFSDS and top attack munitions.

Furthermore, the AG-14, emphasizing low observability, has brought emphasis to minimizing radar and IR signature: incorporating technology from other stealth weapons, the AG-14 Ares minimizes radar cross-sections through radar absorbent material, angle alignment and so on, while infrared signatures were minimized through various ways. As a result, the AG-14 is made to be a vehicle difficult to detect and destroy, ensuring survivability.

Mobility

As a light tank, the AG-14 features a passenger layout similar to main battle tanks: the driver is located ahead, while the commander and gunner are within the hull and the unmanned turret is mounted relatively on the rear. The unmanned turret provides space for a total of four additional fully-armed crew in the rear, assuring the AG-14's capability of troop transport, though to a limited degree.

In addition, the AG-14 Ares is powered by a diesel-electric hybrid engine providing 1,080 hp of thrust. The engines delivering the power to the torsion bar suspension, the AG-14 Ares's superb maneuverability and agility comes true: with the engine providing such amount of thrust, the vehicle is capable of accelerating to speeds up to 75 km/h on roads, while it can go in speeds up to 52 km/h off roads.

the prime minister of Pohjonen himself has taken interest in this light tank, and the defense force requests a single unit for testing.
thank you for your time,
