Z.M.I. Justinian-Class Aircraft Carrier
Bringing Air Power onto the Seas. Air Power from the Fleets.

UNIT PRICE: $3,200,000,000 (Nuclear), $2,800,000,000 (Diesel-Electric), $2,300,000,000 (STOBAR)
DPR (Combined): $68,000,000,000

The Zeus Maritime Industries Justinian-Class Aircraft Carrier, developed in cooperation with Seawalker Shipyards, is a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier (primarily) to become the core of naval air power for nations that cannot afford to have super carriers but can afford medium-sized carriers smaller than the supercarriers. The low-cost advantage of the Justinian-Class enables the procurement of more ships for a limited budget, enabling flexibility in the naval air wing. This is helpful in a situation in which one of the aircraft carriers are attacked and destroyed - though one is down, another is still standing.

There are two ways of departing a non-VTOL aircraft from an aircraft carrier: one is through the usage of steam catapults/electromagnetic systems, while the other involves the usage of a built-in ski jump system (STOBAR). The Justinian-Class, considering its capability, employs a steam catapult to launch its aircraft. However, upon request of potential international customers, a STOBAR variant, which employs a ski jump system to assist an aircraft's departure, was also developed. As of now, it is currently experimenting an electromagnetic aircraft launch system (EMALS) to send forth its non-VTOL aircraft.

At the range of 65,000 tons, the Justinian-Class is capable of carrying up to 68 aircraft in its optimum complement - this 'optimum complement' includes not only fighters, but also a number of COD aircraft, AEW&C aircraft and up to eight helicopters. With such aircraft loading, the Justinian-Class is able to deliver adequate air power for fleets upon the surface, while also giving them an edge in the air.

Variants

  • Nuclear CATOBAR: Standard nuclear-powered variant.
  • Diesel-Electric CATOBAR: A more affordable variant that uses diesel-electric propulsion. Features no other differences besides propulsion.
  • Diesel-Electric STOBAR: A diesel-electric variant employing STOBAR propulsion.
