New Passenger car for TRANS POLAR RAILWAYS in late stages of construction at new the new South Sands production site

In order to cater for future capacity, Orbis Rail Systems has opened a new plant in the city of South Sands with additional plants also being built in Barentsburg to cater for the wide body R500 and R700 railsets which now run on a dedicted high speed line between Valeria Port Aurora and Lake Hai'lu'kai away from slower traffic.

The new South Sands plant uses over 4 thousand employees working in 3 shifts to cover production that is now operating 24 hours per day, 7 days per week with workers working 12 hour shifts 4 days on, 4 days off. Given the nature of the product the production line was traditionally very labour intensive however where possible during the assembly of the various subassemblies Orbis has introducted automation, this enables car panels to be produced quickly however much of the final assembly and assembly of heavy parts such as bogie frames is still produced with a lot of manual labour. It is our care and attention to detail that ensures that Orbis Rail Systems stays at the forefront of the rail industry in Astyria.

Dear Sir,
in relation to your Li-Hss Brake system, Orbis already produces a similar system called the ECBS, or Eddy Current Brake System, this utilises rotary eddy current brakes, (REB) and linear eddy current brakes (LEV) which provide 90% of the brake force on the R500 and R700 series at speed over 100 km/h, with the traditional mechanical friction brakes being used for the final stages of deceleration.

LEB units work by adding vertical force onto the train by using electro magnetism to pull the train down onto the track, this downward force when combined with the horizontal movement of the train results in effective braking at high speeds without risk of locking the wheels up, then as the train begins to slow down the REB's begin to energise their currents which act on a large iron disc and impart resistance onto the disc, then as the wheels slow down the service brakes are activated with traditional friction pads make contact with the disc surfaces of the wheel sides.

As for the 2E2N1-M1, the design could be adapted to an underground train, however it is designed primarily as an inter-urban commuter train, conversion to an underground unit would require alteration to third rail. If you wish to develop an underground unit, take a look at the 2E2-S1 Metrostar.

Your order has been accepted, there will however be an increase in cost over the standard 10kv 4-car DC sets, but we can construct them to run on 3kv DC electric and manufacture them at 18 cars. These will be the longest units ever constructed by Orbis Rail systems, as such there will be 3 power collection cars installed within the sets. To aid flexibility, we suggest that you have the 18 car sets made of of three 6-car sets so during periods of low demand they can run as smaller units, however if you wish them to be full 18 car permanent sets then that can be accommodated.

These will be laid out with 15 standard class compartments and 3 first class cars, furthermore we are offering you the opportunity to fit a catering car to take up half of one of the first class cars or half of one of the standard class cars.

Dear Sir.

In relation to your proposal to purchase Interstar E.M.U. rail sets, these sets are only available in 1435 to 1800mm rail gauge and are not available in 1067mm cape gauge, these therefore may not be suitable for use on your network, I therefore suggest the 2E2N1-M1 Capestar if your network uses 1067mm gauge railways.

The 2E2N1-M1 Capestar series Electric Multiple Unit is designed specifically for narrow gauge lines and as such is only available in 1,067mm (cape) gauge, hence its name. Technology used on the Capestar is drived from its standard gauge cousin, the Interstar. Power for the Capestar comes from a 1.5 to 3kv direct current power supply or 15kv to 25kv overhead AC powersupply, though it has to be decied on as to which power system is to be used as the Capestar is optimised for a particular line voltage.

Capestar trains are made up primarily of 6 cars per consist, featuring 2 first class cars with 3 abreast seating and 4 coach class seating, the layout can either be open plan stock or corridor layout with individual compartments for passengers, and for operators who are likely to use the cape-star on long distance operations, there is the option of a catering island to be installed in any of its cars. In a similar fashion to the Interstar, the Capestar has the pantograph cars unpowered, with the trailers and end cars having the transmission systems with walk-through capability in the end cars allowing several cape-star sets to be coupled together to form a single train, however the diaphragms used on the Capestar are stored behind doors to give a smoother appearance to the car ends.

With advanced high torque motors and a lighter weight than the Interstar, the Capestar is able to accellerate swiftly from a standstill to its maximum speed of 130km/h, which due to its narrow gauge design is limited for safety whilst rotary eddy current brakes and conventional disc brakes help to bring the Capestar to a stop quickly and efficiently.

To facilitate loading onto ship, the sets will be decoupled and loaded as individual cars then recoupled upon arrival in Paguìa before being pushed by dock-tug locomotive under the wires or pulled by diesel locomotive to a point where they can draw electric power from the overhead power system if the railway system near the port is not electrified.

Your order has been recieved, reviewed and accepted. There will however be a slight increase in the base price for the addition of the 4 cars, this will however increase internal capacity by 220 passengers per set. To accommodate the increase in weight, and the current draw associated with the system, 2 of these additional cars will be power cars. We also propose adding a second catering island area within standard class so passengers at the far end of the train dont have far to walk in order to get their meal or refreshments.

These 23 sets will take aproximately 20 weeks to complete including shipping to your location, with the first train delivered to your port of entry at Portland - Maine in around 6 weeks, due to the method of shipping, they will be delivered in decoupled status where they can then be unloaded onto the tracks at the port then assembled into their full rakes, once this is complete, they will then be moved by switchout locomotive to a location where the pantographs can be raised allowing them to make the onward journey under their own power.
