Ecclesiastical Studies
The Ecclesiastical Faculties, an integral part of the University of Santo Tomas, consist of the following:

*Faculty of Sacred Theology
*Faculty of Philosophy
*Faculty of Canon Law

The three Ecclesiastical Faculties are organically independent of one another, each one having its own governing body, faculty staff, and students, as well as their particular academic courses and programs.
They are entrusted by the Church with the task of preparing with special care students for the priestly ministry, for teaching the sacred sciences, and for the more arduous task of the apostolate. Furthermore, they are enjoined by the Church "to promote the continuing permanent education of the ministers of the Church".
As the primary component of the Catholic University, the Ecclesiastical Faculties share in the University’s responsibility to be an educative community permeated by the spirit of freedom and charity; in particular, the Ecclesiastical Faculties strive to become, in word and witness, a fraternal Christian community, nourished by prayer and the celebration of the Eucharist.

Image
Faculty of Sacred Theology

The purpose of the Faculty of Sacred Theology is to teach and conduct research on the truths of salvation revealed by God, preserved and taught by the Catholic Church, and lived, in union with the Universal Church, by the Christians in the Commonwealth. It is tasked with the formation of the clergy and of the faithful at the level required for the certification of academic degrees conferred under the authority of the Holy See. It likewise aims to have a continued close collaboration with the Church Hierarchy, particularly with regard to the scientific analyis of the issues and problems of the times and their theological discernment from Christian faith, directed to integral Christian praxis.
The Faculty of Sacred Theology is as old as the University itself, since the primary purpose of the Dominican Fathers in founding this institution of learning was to train from among the young men who flocked to their lecture rooms worthy ministers of the altar.

Image
Faculty of Philosophy

Philosophy was one of the earliest academic programs being offered since the University was founded. Bachelor, Licentiate and Doctorate degrees in Philosophy, by that time, were given only to those who are entering for priesthood, through the Faculty of Philosophy. The program was enlarged and subsequently called Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, years after the University’s foundation. When the Central Seminary was to be established directly under the Sacred Congregation on Seminaries and Universities, and the University Administration, a complete separation of religious and lay students was brought about, according to the wishes of the Church, two courses had to be established:

*Ecclesiastical, subject to the laws of the Church; and
*Civil, subject to state legislation.

For this reason, the Faculty of Philosophy was established in the Central Seminary. This was intended to enable the students to undertake the study of Sacred Theology more profitably later on.

Image
Faculty of Canon Law

The Faculty of Canon Law aims to study and to promote the juridical disciplines in the light of the Gospel and to mold the students in the spirit of the Church's common Law, so that they may be prepared for scientific research regarding its development and interpretation, to teach the same in seminaries, houses of studies and Ecclesiastical Faculties, and be trained for professional practice in diocesan and religious curias as well as to hold special ecclesiastical posts. The Faculty of Canon Law shall research with special interest for ways and means to harmonize the difference between the laws of the Church and those of the State.

INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS AND EXCHANGES
As a highly internationalist institution with a deep focus on expanding the focus and horizons of our students, PNU is dedicated to the establishment of close working relationships with a variety of institutes and organisations both within and without Pekweng. Our ties with a large number of prominent establishments, are particularly close, and with our entry into the international stage it is our intent to extend the opportunity to form such relationships to similar entities overseas. From universities to foundations, we will consider each and every request and offer made to us in the interests of bringing the countless benefits offered by an institution such as ours to the wider world and those within it who would make use of them.

Ismalyr currently maintains three primary patterns of international partnership.

> Joint Degrees - Established at the postgraduate level, the University is willing to consider and construct two-and-two year courses spent at Pekweng and a separate institution of higher education abroad in pursuit of specific postgraduate qualifications with the opportunity for travel and variety as an integral part of the learning experience.

> Exchange Programs - Either for undergraduate students or faculty, the University would be interested in establishing exchange programs between Ismalyr and a separate institution of higher education abroad with the intent to foster further understanding of our respective nations in those involved in resultant programs and provide opportunities of a similar nature to those accommodating such students or staff. Undergraduate students would complete a year abroad prior to beginning their full undergraduate studies at Pekweng, while staff would be sent abroad for individually agreed periods of time on short or medium term tenures.

> Scholarship Foundations - Foreign entities are invited to establish bursary programs for talented overseas students at the University. Of course, given the relatively limited spaces available for overseas students, such programs would cover one or two students apiece; however, for those involved, it would create a valuable opportunity to further access to a world-class institute of tertiary education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Applications for international partnerships have not been formalised. Those interested are invited to write an open letter to the University on behalf of those who are to play the hosting party describing the nature of the program they wish to establish, and a short description of what their program entails.

Upon further request, a basic form has been created for those who desire a more formalised system of application. Utilising it is entirely optional; those applying to establish programs are welcome to utilise the form or pen an open letter.

From the Papal Throne, a Decree by His Holiness, Urban IX,

After reviewing the curriculum and history of this storied and important National University, I am particularly impressed with the devotion to a good education and a good formulation in faith provided by this university. A wide array of educational courses are offered, in a standard and tradition worthy of the Angelic Doctor himself, who serves as the school's patron.

The Ecclesiastical Faculties, in particular, are impressive and among the best such faculties in Christendom.

As such, it would be a great privilege for me to bestow upon the university the status of Pontifical College, denoting the site as one of the greatest such universities in Christendom for forming men to serve the Church and the flock. As such, it will additionally be my great honor to visit Pekweng personally during any pontifical ceremonies held.

To the point where the word 'Anemonian' is still in your post. I promise I won't steal your stuff, and I'd be mighty obliged if you could do the same, shut down this silly plagiarised thread and write your own one.

Thank you very much in advance.
