The Republic of Cadenza

[ Home | Geography | Locations | Companies | Access | Forms ]

Cadenza is the westernmost of the many Trellinese islands and a constituent nation of the Sidereal Crown. The mere fifty-two hundred square kilometres of Cadenza and its surrounding islands make up Cadenzan Duchy, one of the most prosperous areas in the entirety of Astyria. While mainland Trellin remained in isolation over the last centuries, its protectorates continued to represent its commercial interests abroad and in Astyria, and as a major focus point for trade in the west of the region the island of Cadenza has become the single richest territory in the Trellinese Empire. With a long-standing commitment to open borders and free trade, the name 'Cadenzan Economic Free Zone' is no misnomer.

Known in the local language as Khade, the island of Cadenza has a long history, relatively untroubled by the goings-on in mainland Trellin. It has been inhabited since at least 50 BC, its people ethnically related to the Trellinese who arrived in the region three centuries before. The linguistic similarities between Khadenz and Trellinese were sufficient for the island to escape subjugation in the 1400s, and Cadenza prospered in its dominant position on the great sea routes of western Astyria before becoming an imperial power in its own right in the 1600s. In 1871 the Maritime Republic of Cadenza voluntarily joined the Trellinese Empire as a client state, only voting to become a protectorate in 1964.

The local economy has always been focused around sea trade, the island holding a strategic position for shipping travelling around the southern Astyrian continent. In recent decades, as shipping becomes increasingly long-distance, the importance of Cadenza as a shipping port has declined, while on the neighbouring island of Kur'zhet a growing industrial sector has led its freight port to overshadow Cadenza's. Since the 1990s, the Protectorate has been reinventing itself as a leading financial centre for Astyria, and has taken its rightful position at the forefront of Trellinese banking. With one of the best-suited locations and economies for international business, Cadenza is an opportunity not to be missed.

Geography

Cadenza is the ninth largest island in Trellin, and the smallest of the three autonomous protectorates of the Trellinese Empire, with a land area of 5,183.94 square kilometres. Lying just over five hundred kilometres south of the equator, it experiences a perennial tropical climate while remaining free of the tropical storms that plague the Sea of Jajich. Its 411 kilometre-long coastline consists mainly of sandy beaches or low cliffs, with several sheltered harbours. It is surrounded by a number of smaller islands, which together form the Eth Khadeg, the Cadenzan Archipelago.

Image
Most population centres are on the island of Cadenza, with the exception of north Canve which lies on the island of Edarak. Every town larger than 20,000 is within two kilometres of the coast, with the interior of the island being mountainous. The rugged summits are the only parts of the mountains not heavily forested, and it is an area popular with hikers and hill-walkers, particularly the peak of Vekh Neramë. The lower slopes of the mountains are gentle and fertile, ideal for various kinds of cultivation and agriculture, particularly in the west. In the east, the flat land between the mountains and the seas has been extensively developed by the rapid urbanisation of the capital and its satellite towns. All the towns are, or will shortly be, linked by a comprehensive motorway network which rings the island.

The geology of the archipelago is very stable, its bedrock being ancient granite. The most common rock types are igneous, laid down when the islands were volcanically formed, though the west has some notable limestone outcrops. The southern island arc is formed mainly from coral, with reefs of outstanding biodiversity being visible all around the Eth Khadeg. In recent years strict measures have been put in place to control pollution and damage to the reefs, and the substantial growth in 2012-2013 proved the success of these efforts. The government and people of Cadenza take great pride in protecting their national ecological heritage, and a substantial portion of the Duchy's territory is demarcated as national park or wildlife preserve, even right up to the urban limits of its capital.

Locations

Cadenza

Image
The capital of the Protectorate of Cadenza, which shares its name with the island, is also the largest city, with a population of roughly 600,000. The urban area is very compact, focused mainly in a strip of skyscrapers along the waterfront. These towers are mainly commercial, forming the bulk of the Astyrian Financial Centre which is considered by many to be one of the most important business districts in Astyria, if not the world, and including in their number the iconic 'Khadfen Tower' of Cadenza Financial. In addition to commanding stunning vistas, the waterfront tower blocks are ideally placed to take advantage of the island's comprehensive transport network. It is to the Port of Cadenza that regional ferry services from as far afield as South Sands in the Aurora Confederacy come, and an island-wide motorway network extends outwards from this key point. Over a tenth of Trellin's overseas trade first comes ashore on the quays and piers of Cadenza, making it the commercial centre on the island and one of the best places in Astyria to do business.

The City of Cadenza is also where the island's unique culture finds its fullest expression, as a vibrant nightlife and abundance of local restaurants attract tens of thousands of tourists every year in addition to the young people of Cadenza. As the main centre of the annual Cadenzan Festival of Culture, which enjoys its 25th anniversary in 2014, the city boasts any number of cultural venues. Of these, the most prominent is the Royal Concert Hall of Cadenza, which has hosted orchestras and performances from throughout Astyria and remains one of the best-known landmarks on the island.

Access to the city from off the island is facilitated mainly by ferry links to Trellin and the rest of Astyria. Regular sailings connect the Port of Cadenza to Medlar, Khem, Durats and other Trellinese ports, as well as to Panoli in Neu Engollon, South Sands in the Aurora Confederacy and Alexandria in the Blackhelm Confederacy. The island's main airport is just outside the city, with routes connecting it to other major airports in west-central Astyria.

Ro'ekha

Image
On the northwestern shore of the island lies the more quiet town of Ro'ekha, with a population of roughly 70,000. Having made a name for itself as a holiday resort, Ro'ekha caters to an older market than does the bustling atmosphere of Cadenza or Temir. The town is increasingly becoming a destination for expatriate retirees, offering a perennially warm climate with pristine beaches and any number of golf courses dotted around the low-lying hills. Construction has quickly become a major part of the town's economy, as apartment estates are put up in their dozens throughout Ro'ekha and its environs.

The area's restaurants have become popular and rapidly multiplied in recent years, with seafood being predominant as a result of Ro'ekha's heritage as a fishing port. Ro'ekhan restaurants and chefs regularly win national awards for excellence, and as a result tourism to the area is on the rise. The Old Town is a clearly-defined district around the quays of Ro'ekha, with twisting cobbled streets and red-tiled roofs abounding. Family-run restaurants and tiny stone chapels are roughly equally distributed throughout the district, though most of the buildings seem to stand back from the Grand Auditorium, the main high-culture venue in Ro'ekha, an old limestone building dating from the 1700s when it acted as the base for the Ro'ekhan Dramatic Society.

Getting to Ro'ekha is relatively simple from the capital, as a result of the motorways which were opened in 2002. The C2 passes directly through the modern central business district and connects the town to Canve in the northeast and Emigar in the south, while the C3 links the town centre to Temir. A local airport connects the town to Kur'zhet and Azmir, but does not serve international routes.

Temir

Image
The city of Temir sprawls along the eastern coastline of Cadenza, spreading along the C3 motorway as it heads towards Canve. Far younger than the city of Cadenza, Temir was a small fishing port until the 1940s when it became a suburb of the growing capital. The island's rail network, laid down in the mid '30s, brought a huge influx of residents to the area, and by 1964 Temir had become a major commercial centre in its own right, now boasting a population of some 350,000. Compared to the relatively compact business districts of Cadenza, the 'high-rise' buildings of Temir were substantially smaller, and urban sprawl, consisting largely of low, detached houses, reaches far into the island's interior.

Temir's economy is very like that of the capital, based in no small part around a burgeoning financial sector, but with a larger construction industry supporting its rapid growth. Like much of the Cadenzan economy, the tertiary sector plays a large role in Temir's expansion and continued development, and large amounts of public funds have been invested in upgrading the city's roads and public transport networks. This policy, like the growth that caused it, has been very much assisted by the land around Temir, which is among the flattest on the island. Temir is very much a commercial centre, rather than a tourist destination, though it nonetheless has many clubs and bars, particularly near the waterfront in the heart of the city. Like the other large towns on the island, Temir boasts a major music venue in the form of Valnara Hall. Built in the 1980s, it is one of the largest concert halls in southern Trellin with a capacity for nearly 4,000 seated.

Access to Temir is mainly by road, it being less than thirty minutes' drive from the Port of Cadenza in moderate traffic. Temir is the main focus of the C3 motorway, which connects it directly to both Ro'ekha and Canve as well as linking to the C1. A private airfield also serves charter flights into Temir.

Mefra

Image
Mefra is an entirely new town, developed from the 1980s onward as an upper-class suburb of Cadenza. Nestled between the east slope of Vekh Radin and the sea, the town stretches along the coast in ten unbroken kilometres of glistening tower blocks, brand new villas and elegant waterfront development. Unlike the older towns on the island, this town of 60,000 has no central business district, its commercial developments interspersed throughout its thirty square kilometres and intermingling with private housing and leisure facilities. Offering countless ways to spend free time, Mefra has gained a name as a 'get-away destination for those who can't get away' as it continues to draw in major corporations from throughout Astyria.

It has been said that Mefra has more hotels per capita than anywhere else in Trellin, and certainly the evidence does seem to be in favour of this. The district of Rivolet in particular is famed as a resort area, with hotel chains from as far afield as Nikolia. The hill of Vekh Radin, just behind the town, is increasingly dotted with small resorts, with its upper half being popular for walking excursions. Because of the seemingly haphazard development of Mefra, there is no real centre for the town's nightlife, most of its pubs, clubs and bars being simply dotted along the waterfront. Ease of access to the capital makes this a non-issue, particularly with an abundance of taxis being available and a quality public transport system set up since 1995.

Lying a mere twenty kilometres to the south of the city of Cadenza, Mefra is easily accessed from the capital by road, though the connection is mostly single-carriageway. Work on a new motorway, designated the C4, is slated to be completed by mid 2015, establishing a proper connection to Cadenza and Emigar.

Canve

Image
Canve is a small town to the north east of the Protectorate, built mainly around Lasula Bay. Like many of the island's towns, Canve has a strong maritime tradition, and its harbour was for a long time one of the most important in an independent Cadenza. In modern times this tradition has manifested itself in the town's extensive marina and abundance of pleasure boats. The economy of this town of 40,000 is built almost entirely around its tourist and fishing industries and the multitude of restaurants that have sprung up as a result.

Just north of the town lie two islands, the larger of which, Edarak, is populated and considered a part of Canve, though common consensus is that Edarak is a more upper-class district. A regular ferry service connects the two districts, while the cliff-ringed southern island, Janari, has been designated a bird sanctuary and is off-limits to non-locals, though boat tours around its coast are available throughout the year.

Canve is strategically located at the ends of all three of Cadenza's existing motorways, making it easily accessible from any point on the island. Its small ferry port connects it to towns on the west coast of Kur'zhet.

Emigar

Image
A fishing port in the south of Cadenza, Emigar lies almost entirely on the east bank of the River Berak where it enters the sea. It is one of the smallest 'cities' in the Protectorate, with a population of just 25,000, but has seen rapid urbanisation in the last decade as spillover from the growth of Mefra and the capital. It remains a key point of departure for agricultural products grown in the western plains of the island, with the port including a large number of grain silos and many Trellinese agricultural firms, including the renowned Imperial Potassium Export Bureau of Asketon, having their offices here.

The town's main commercial district stretches upriver from the quays, running along the banks of the Berak. River cruises are a popular leisure activity here, with a flourishing tourist industry in the upriver Old Town. Unlike most other Cadenzan towns, a large portion of Emigar's employment comes from manufacturing, with a major packaging plant in its harbour and various food industry establishments present to take advantage of its role as a grain depot.

Emigar is connected to the capital and east Cadenza by the C1 motorway, to which the C2 also connects, allowing access to Lema and Ro'ekha. The planned C4 motorway will also facilitate access to Mefra. The town's freight port has routes to much of western Astyria, but most regularly serves north-west Trellin.

Lema

Image
Lema is the westernmost settlement on the island of Cadenza. It is the only major town not located on the coast, a measure taken to avoid storm damage, instead being slightly upriver on the Karea, standing on a number of rocky outcrops which overlook the river valley. Its population of 35,000 is housed in distinctive houses with gently-sloping white roofs which make Lema one of the most picturesque towns in Cadenza.

The heart of Cadenza's agricultural region, Lema has struggled more than the island's other towns have in transforming its economy from primary to tertiary sector. The establishment of major film studio, Haywire Productions, in 1992 helped bolster the slow growth, and the arrival of the Trellinese Radio Corporation in 1996 pushed the town forward as the island's media capital. A number of legal firms and smaller banks have also been drawn in by this growth, making Lema an important auxiliary services centre for the island as a whole.

Access to Lema is easily facilitated by the C2 motorway, which connects it to Ro'ekha and Emigar and to the C1 motorway through Cadenza. Lema Airport, vital to the local film industry, connects the town to nearby Trellinese and major Astyrian points.

Getting to Cadenza

Image

The Cadenzan Airport Association is a private company consisting of three airports, Cadenza City Airport, Ro'ekha Airport and Lema Airport, and closely affiliated with Temir Airfield. Of these, only Lema and Cadenza airports have runaways long enough for international flights, though Ro'ekha and and Temir both regularly receive planes from Astyrian origins.

Cadenza

Cadenza Airport is the largest on the island, with three terminals - Domestic, Regional and International - and two runways of 2,145 m and 1,365 m, respectively. Even so, space is limited, and gates are restricted to 3 arrivals per 24 hour period.

Lema

Lema Airport, despite its small size, is vital to the town's film industry, providing it with links to the rest of Astyria and the world. Flights are less restricted than Cadenza, allowing up to 4 arrivals per gate per 24 hour period. Lema's single runway is 1,840 metres long.

Temir

Temir Airfield is not a member of the Cadenzan Airport Association, instead being a privately-owned facility with one runway. Flights must be chartered to Temir Airfield with the individual aircraft being registered with the authority beforehand. Hangars are available for rental on an annual basis. The Airfield is not open on Wednesdays or Sundays.

Ferry

By far the busiest ferry port in western Trellin, the Port of Cadenza is one of four harbours expressly licensed to carry out international trade. Passenger and car ferries arrive from all corners of Astyria on a range of popular routes, with disembarking have a fee of a mere 1 NSD. In general, commencing ferry routes to Cadenza is limited to Astyrian-based companies due to the distances involved.

A weekly schedule of regional routes is available below.

Monday
    Trafergha Panoli ― Panoli
TuesdayWednesday
    Trafergha Panoli ― Panoli
Thursday
    Trafergha Panoli ― Nice

    Cargo

    Image
Though its importance as a freight terminus has declined in recent years, the Port of Cadenza retains an important position in Trellinese maritime trade. Shipments from all over the world arrive here to be distributed to the rest of Trellin and other Astyrian ports. The Cadenzan port authority also operates the Port of Emigar, a major grain exporting point. In total, the properties of the Port of Cadenza include 36 individual berths spread over 350 hectares of waterfront. As many as 3,500 ships arrive in the Port of Cadenza annually, carrying half a million passengers and over 12 million tonnes of cargo.

    Business Application Information

Because of the widely divergent natures of the various companies establishing in Cadenza, it would be far too difficult to compose a form appropriate to all. As such, we ask you to seriously consider what information you need to provide us. Obvious inclusions are the number of locations sought and the level of local employment that will be provided. What cities or sites you apply for are also relevant. There are countless other factors, however, which do not always immediately come to mind, yet which may be utterly vital for us to hear about before we consider your application.

Rest assured, however, that you are not the only group with an interest in the Cadenzan economy, and establishing a presence here is not a task lying entirely on your shoulders. It is the purpose of the Commerce Board of the Cadenzan Duchy to make it as easy as possible for you to set up business in our beautiful islands, and we will help you in any way you can. Setting up shop may very well be a lengthy dialogue as we iron out the important details. Please, remember that we are here to help, and do not hesitate to seek clarification on any points of interest or inquiry.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for your interest in Cadenza. Even if our Duchy does not suit your interests, we wish you and your business the very best in the future.

Ceniana, as one of the worlds' largest airlines, is in a position to expand its services to Cadenza to positions throughout Astyria as well as points in the broader globe. We would like to apply for gates and rights to travel to your esteemed airport. We feel that this arrangement would be mutually beneficial, and that the economy of Cadenza and Lema itself, and on a greater scale, Cadenza, would benefit greatly from this arrangement.

Certainly, this arrangement will result in greater traffic at Cadenza and Lema Airports. We hope that you accept our application for greater services to Cadenza; indeed, this is demand that will certainly help the economy of your nation. We strongly believe that these routes will be a great success. Please find more detail in our application, enclosed below.

    To:The Respective Authorities of Cadenza
From: William Thatcher, CEO of Fair House Publishing

    Good afternoon,

It has come to the attention of my staff that the financial hub that is Cadenza has not, of all things, invested in a reliable publishing firm which has ties all across Astyria and even beyond. We at Fair House Publishing look to acquire the best authors and their stories and ideas and allow them to encapsulate those ideas in a way which they can express freely and without fear of censorship or alteration. We do have strict guidelines on publishing, but ultimately we leave the author to truly be the author; we will not be a 'backseat driver', as it were. Rather, we promote the empowerment of writers and readers all across Astyria.

That being said, we are abhorred that Cadenza does not yet have such a publishing firm within its sphere. The value of a trustworthy publishing company is vast, as we can capture the ideas of the Trellinese people and bring them to the minds of millions, if not billions, of people across Astyria, to give them an insight on what it is to truly be Trellinese. Novels yet written or yet published by Trellinese authors could one day be history books or critical reading for Aquitaynian, Strettan, or GHawkin students in classrooms everywhere. We empower, and implore you, to invest in a Fair House Publishing Firm in Cadenza, to allow us the ability to truly capture the artistic works of the Trellinese people.

If you are interested, we would be most pleased to immediately send a delegation to begin hiring and to start the construction of a proper office facility and publishing area, which will serve as the nerve center for publishing in the Astyrian West.

    Our sincere regards,

    William Thatcher

    Mister Epia,
I am glad to hear that Ceniana has an interest in the Protectorate's two international airports. Not only will your establishment of new routes linking Cadenza and Lema with Costa de Ouro, Kington Langley and ViZion boost the economy of the Eth Khadeg as you help tie it in with the Astyrian and world economy, but the high level of demand we anticipate will prove a great source of revenue for Ceniana itself.

Indeed, Mister Epia; I have no doubt whatsoever that this will prove greatly advantageous to both our represented bodies. Furthermore, the Cadenzan Airport Association has undertaken to acquire a branch office for Ceniana's operations in the Protectorate. Its address is 52 Khinsel Terrace, Cadenza. You have my thanks for your correspondence and your agreement to pay the annual contract fees of one million NSD. I very much look forward to looking out my office window at Cadenza Airport and seeing Ceniana jets ready to fly to all corners of the globe.

    Kind regards,

    Chamber of Commerce,

    Mister Thatcher,
I thank you most profusely for your letter. As the Chairman of Cadenza's Board of Commerce, I greatly value your interest in the Protectorate, and confidently assure you that your initiative is to your credit. Cadenza would be well served by an international publisher; for far too long we, the Cadenzan and Trellinese people, have had only Trellinese authors to read, and those same authors have only had the Trellinese to be read by. Change is long overdue, and we are glad that it is Fair House Publishing who will set it in motion.

For decades almost without count, it has been the perception throughout Astyria that the Trellinese are in some way a lower civilisation than others, that we are poor or oppressed, that because our monarchy is absolute and our borders are closed that we live in the fear of a despotic tyrant. This is, of course, absurd, as any respectable survey of the country would reveal, but, though there are countless such surveys and innumerable disproofs, without a medium of distribution for them this will remain the general belief. That is why I so openly welcome Fair House Publishing to Cadenza, and why I express my unreserved delight to have you here.

If I could do so, I would immediately provide you with all the offices, staff, equipment and grants you could possibly need. Alas, I cannot. What is in my power is to help you get yourselves set up in the Protectorate. The Commerce Board will help your hiring in any way we can. If there is a specific area of our island you wish to establish yourselves in, we will track down a site for you, or do our best to find an office available. All that is left for you is to let us know what you need.

    Welcome to Cadenza.

    Yours in friendship,

    To Mr. Misrav Khaesan,

As you may know, the Imperial Realm of Romberg is another nation situated in the Northern part of Astyria. Yet despite this, our nation is much further away from the other nations of Astyria than others. This would hence stress the importance of trade and transport relations between Romberg and the rest of Astyria. As such, we would hope to pursue closer relations with your nation, starting with an establishment of an air route to your nation's main airport in Cadenza. The proposal is shown below:

    Airline name: Rombergia
    Representative: Mr. Andrei Karlsson
    Destination Airport: Cadenza
    Terminal: B
    Gates: (max. of 2) 4, 5
Point(s) of origin: Holmgard International Airport, Holmgard (HGC), Königsberg Airport, Königsberg (KNB), Wolfenstein City Airport, Wolfenstein (WFS)
Number of weekly flights per point of origin: 8 - 1 flight per point of origin per day, plus an extra flight to each airport on Sundays
    Contractual agreement:
I, Mr. Andrei Karlsson, hereby agree to pay a 250,000 NSD fee, per gate,
annually to the Cadenzan Airport Association

However, due to the recently deteriorating security situation in Astyria, we may have to have request the right to post armed guards on board the proposed flights until the situation improves. Should you however be against this notion, then we are more than willing to rescind this.

For more information on our airline, feel free to consult our airline information page here .

I hope that with the interests of both nations taken into consideration, our proposal for the establishment of a route would be seriously considered, and that it could be approved as soon as possible.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Mister Karlsson,
Thank you for your letter to the Cadenzan Airport Association. I am delighted to see such interest from an Astyrian airline, particularly at this crucial juncture as we move to integrate the Protectorate into the regional and global air transport networks. I have full confidence that the relative remoteness of the Imperial Realm will prove no barrier to so successful and reputable an airline as Rombergia, who we welcome with open arms to Cadenza Airport. Your planned regular service will bring many great benefits to the economies of both nations and add to the success of both your airline and the airport I represent.

Naturally, with such extensive operations planned by Rombergia, you will be requiring a local office from which to coordinate. My staff has taken the liberty of procuring such an office for your firm, with which we are confident you will be completely satisfied. This office's address is at 79 Betar'kha Street, Cadenza.

With regard to your request for armed guards to be present on your flights, I must assure you that this concern may be responded to entirely at your own discretion. I do not believe such measures are necessary, not least of all because of the tranquillity that has characterised Cadenza for century upon century, but also for the simple fact that the instability in the southeast of our continent has not spread, nor is it likely to, as far as Trellin, let alone Cadenza. That said, if you feel it is important that you guarantee the safety of your passengers in this way, you may of course do so and would be entirely justified in taking such a concern seriously.

Finally, sir, I wish to thank you and your airline for contacting my office and for your willingness to meet our annual contract fees of five hundred thousand NSD. I do not doubt that it will be a pleasure to work with your company in the very near future.

    Kind regards,

    Dear Mr. Faleh Tirest,

We have recently recieved your letter inviting us to open a store, or several, within the city of Cadenza. We would be happy to do so, and we hope that this will bear fruits for both of our interests. Additionally, we have decided to open not just one, but two stores. The first will be a smaller store, selling a much smaller array of merchandise that we would like to open up within the airport servicing this city. The second would be a larger, showroom style store, where we can display our newest models and showcase our full line of products. We would like this to be placed primely in a retail section of the city, and while we are not entirely familiar with the area, we trust that you will position us well. We can begin construction on these two stores right away, we only need your approval. Thank you for your time.

    Sincerely,

    Mister Adeodachus,
Thank you for your swift reply to the invitation we extended to your excellent firm. I am delighted to see we have held your interest, and welcome the prospect of seeing two stores opening in the City of Cadenza and its airport. I have personally contacted the relevant people at Cadenza Airport, and am informed there are available sites within the airport's buildings. We believe you would be most ideally suited by a 250 square foot site, available at a five-year lease of 150,000 NSD per annum. This would be sized appropriately for your request to have a smaller site, compared with the locations we have chosen to recommend in the city centre.

The first of these locations is 82 Razeth Street, a ground-floor site currently available for 62,000 NSD per annum. At 2,200 square feet, it offers more than enough floor space for your company's needs. Razeth Street is near the heart of the city's urban area, a short walk from the financial districts. Indeed, this site is next door to Les Cristaux Bank of Tippercommon, so you will be in good company as a high-end retailer.

The second site is at 44 Khandir Street, offering 1,800 square feet and available at a four-year lease of 200,000 NSD. Khandir is near the Marina, so again this store would be well placed for catering to its market and near one of the city's best-known areas for fine dining.

The third and final location we have selected is at 19 Grand Avenue, the city's main thoroughfare and the heart of the Astyrian Financial Centre. This is the smallest site on offer, at 1,400 square feet on the ground floor, though it also offers a first floor area of a further 500 square feet, which could serve either as further retailing space or as a storeroom. 19 Grand Avenue may be leased for 70,000 per annum.

I hope to hear from you soon. If none of these sites suit, please, let me know. Welcome to Cadenza.

    Dear Mr. Faleh Tirest,

The price and location that you have provided for us sounds ideal for our use, and we look forward to a profitable business within the Cadenza Airport. As for the location within the city itself, this has been a subject of careful review. After much debate, we have decided that we would like to purchase a lease to the site at 19 Grand Avenue. The upper floor can be used to showcase only the most exclusive products we carry, and can be divided, a small part to the rear walled off to be used as a store room.

We thank you for your assistance in getting our company set up within Cadenza, and we shall wire the requested money immediately. We look forward to a long and prosperous business in your fine city.

To The Port Authorities of Cadenza,

It is with great humility and honor that I contact you in order that we can set up official links and trafergha (ferry) routes with your port to the great port of Panoli in the Confederacy of Neu Engollon. While it is apparent that there have been some predecessor organizations from the Confederacy and our fair city of Panoli that have done so in the past; since the isolation, it is apparent that those links were never fully reconnected.

The number of missed opportunities is astounding and I wish to correct that on behalf of our government, our industry, our nation's economy and the bond we share as two great Astyrian peoples. We would like at least six scheduled routes per week, if possible, of your choosing. We are able to operate more, should the need be there, but we await your word. I am confident that there will be, as there are plenty of citizens of the Confederacy that are most eager to travel to the formerly closed territories of Trellin, as well as businesses that wish to connect in to the largest untapped market of Astyria. Not only does this apply to business in the Confederacy, but to the rest of the Mederano Peninsula, as well. We could help to establish a gateway between the great Mederano peoples and those of the Jajich Sea. We hope that you will look favorably upon this request. Please see the attached application.
If there are any other questions or concerns, please let me know.

    Sincerely,

Thank you for your continued correspondence. I am glad to see that the locations we selected were so well suited that there was debate over which would be best. I applaud your final decision and welcome you to the central business district. I am utterly certain this choice of location will serve you very well in future commerce and be a great success for your firm.

We will conduct the initial transactions on your behalf for securing the lease, and send the paperwork on to your financial department thereon, in order that your company may represent itself in future negotiations and interactions.

    Sincerely,

    Mister Barmaltando,
I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Kevlfir Pedari Lenar. As representative of the Port of Cadenza, I wish to thank most sincerely for your earlier letter to our offices and for your interest in connecting the respected ports at Panoli and Nice with our own harbour.

To address your application; when you refer to six scheduled routes, we assume that this is to be divided between the ports of Panoli and Nice. As such, we have allocated Monday, Wednesday and Friday to Panoli-Cadenza sailings and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to Nice-Cadenza sailings. I fully expect that there will be demand for more regular service in the near future, but I would prefer to gauge the current levels rather than ask you to throw money at a service which may not prove so ideal. Naturally I would hope to get back in touch with you when a sufficiently representative sample has been attained.

The four berths you have requested will be designated for Trafergha de Panoli's use as soon as possible, and we have also located an office for you to operate from very nearby, at 12 Emerald Quay, available for what is a startlingly low rate for such a popular area. I will ask the landowner to hold the property for you and pass on the relevant details to your office for your consideration.

I very much appreciate your time in writing to us and eagerly await the reestablishment of services between our two countries. I am delighted to see Trafergha de Panoli being the instrument of this renewed tie, and hope you will not hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any more queries of any sort.

    Yours in friendship,

    Chamber of Commerce,

    Mister Dudeirsson,
Thank you for your recent letter. As the Chairman of Cadenza's Board of Commerce, I am gratified to see such interest from such a prominent Astyrian institution, particularly with the close ties Ilius enjoys with our own Cadenza Financial. I am supremely confidant that your coming to Cadenza will only have positive ramifications for the Protectorate and for Ilius. Cadenza is the vibrant heart of banking and finance in western Astyria, and having your excellent firm operating within our borders will no doubt bring about the prosperity of which you speak.

I understand that you are currently seeking to set up your west Astyrian headquarters here in the Protectorate. Needless to say, I am delighted, and I tell you without reservation that you are making an excellent choice. We at the Commerce Board will do our best to help your firm settle in to the ever-expanding Cadenzan economy, and the best way to do that is to get you set up on the prestigious Grand Avenue, possibly the most important road for banking in Astyria, where you will be in the company of such names as Príomhbanc Maltróipea and Les Cristaux Bank.

Furthermore, your intention to set up ten local branches in the Protectorate is an absolutely ideal choice. This will permit you to maintain one branch in ten of the eleven earldoms, one of which is overseas. A full list of the locations my staff have tracked down and negotiated for on your behalf will be attached to this letter, with further information on office rentals and floor plans to follow in the very near future.

    Welcome to Cadenza.

    Yours in friendship,

    Cadenza
    Mister Fairmont,
Thanks for getting in touch with the Cadenzan Airport Association. I am glad to hear of your airline's interest in both Cadenza and Lema airports. I share your confidence that Skyway Airlines will bring many tourists into the Protectorate, and I expect that the demand on the two new routes - in both directions - will prove highly profitable for your most excellent airline.

Recognising Cadenza's growing position as a tourist and travel destination, it is to be expected that you will need an office whence you might conduct operations and field customer relations within the Protectorate. As such, I have worked to track down a suitable location for such an office. We have conducted preliminary negotiations on your behalf for the property at 120 Airport Road, Lema, and I will forward the relevant documentation to you shortly.

We will arrange with our contractors to have catering and refuelling services available at both Lema and Cadenza. As for your request for lounges, this will be arranged at Cadenza Airport immediately. Lema Airport is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment and so a lounge is not, at this time, an option. We will let you know as soon as one is available for use.

Thank you once again, Mister Fairmont. Your willingness to meet the contractual obligations is greatly appreciated. We are very much looking forward to seeing Skyway's airplanes at Cadenza's airports in the near future.

    Kind regards,

    To whom it may concern
With Sea Scape operating regular services to Cadenza along with Auroran Oceanic operating a long distance TIR ferry service, the vast bulk of goods arriving into Cadenza and the surrounding Free Economic Zone would however need to be distributed, It is this sector that I hereby apply to undertake as a major operation into expanding the operations of Space Night Transportation.

Space Night's operation on the island of Cadenza would be a benefit to the economic development of the Port of Cadenza given the number of containers that come in and go out of the harbour, all of which require distribution, Furthermore Space Night has full _T I R_
