Operating out of Neustadt, Romberger Ståtsbahn (RSB) is the national railway operator of the Imperial Realm of Romberg, with connections to all the major cities within the nation, and is an affiliate of the Astyrian AstyRail group. RSB provides passengers with a fast, reliable and yet cheap alternative to air or road travel within the nation, and offers an excellent choice of transport to travellers arriving and leaving Romberg through one of the three main international airports.
What's so good about RSB?
With Astyrian hospitality renowned throughout the world and through the Rombergian tradition of friendliness and efficiency, customer service on board RSB is not only much higher than expected of the fares, but are indeed some of the best among the entire industry. We also take pride in our punctuality, with at least 95% of our trains arriving on time for every single stop on the journey. Passengers arriving at airport stations served by RSB can opt to have bags handled by dedicated baggage staff, both at the station of embarkation and station of disembarkation as well as change points in between.
Our customer service personnel are also professional and willing to help, making organization for night accommodation and any other activities in the city a hassle-free job for you. By choosing RSB, you would also automatically receive a 50% discount on all Rombergia flights to and from the region of Astyria and Romberg.
Fleet and Layout
As part of Astyrail, RSB uses the latest generation of high speed rail equipment derived from the Orbis rail systems 2E2-7 type electric locomotive, these 6,000hp electric locomotives are capable of running at 340km/h for sustained periods taking power from overhead AC or DC wires. The coaches are equally high tech steel monocoque coaches for high strength rather than simply lightweight which along with their dynamic air suspension, means they have an excellent ride with regards to passenger comfort with each car being air conditioned.
Trains operated by RSB are 6 car sets with 4 business, (coach class) cars seating 4 abreast, one restaurant car mounted mid way down the train, and one first class coach seating 3 abreast in wide seats with fully electric recline systems. Each seat, whether in first or coach class has a power hook up for powering of laptop computers and mobile phones. Adapters are available free of charge at station kiosks, and wifi is free and standard on all RSB trains.
There are two classes, simply marked Coach and First with Coach class seating 4 across and First class seating 3 across, with both classes having table seats and airline seats. Night time services have specialised sleeper cars, again with first class and second class sleeping cars. Sleeper trains however have the restaurant car at one end of the train, with 3 first class sleeper cars and 4 coach class sleeper cars. Standard daytime trains have the same number of cars, with the restaurant car located centrally between the first and coach class cars.
Payment and RSB Club Card
Tickets, Payment and booking
Payment for trips with RSB is possible by one of 3 ways, There are the traditional cash (Either Universal Standard Dollar, NS$, or Rombergian Krona, ◊) and card transactions, but also the Romberger StåtsBahnKlub Card (RSB Club Card, or RSB Card) or any other e-card from an Astyrail partner.
The RSB Card is a pre-loaded card that is topped up by cash, credit/debit card at stations or by telephone using a credit or debit card. RSB cards allow you to touch-in and touch out on local trips, as well as buying tickets for long distance trips with a 10% discount over regular cash or card purchased tickets for journeys on RSB trains, which unlike some travel cards, they can be used at ANY time, peak time or off peak, day or night week day or weekends. This discount does not stack with the 50% offered for Rombergia flights to Astyria though. RSB cards can also be used to book advanced travel tickets on line, when upon arriving at the station to commence your journey; just place your RSB card on the reader at the vending machine and your ticket would be printed off. Being part of Astyrail, RSB cards and their equivalents from other Astyrail carriers are valid across the Astyrail network. This allows users of other Astyrail equivalent cards to purchase tickets with their Astyrail e-cards, and RSB passengers to use their RSB cards when purchasing tickets on other Astyrail carriers.
Topping up a RSB card by NS$100 or more in one sitting, or travel using a RSB card 60 times in one month with a minimum journey length of 100km can earn you Romberger StåtsBahnKlub (RSBK) points; these RSBK points can be used to get a free travel return ticket on an off-peak or weekend travel, 1,000 points for a one way, 2,000 points for a return journey.
Being part of the Astyrail network, RSB accepts RSB tickets as well as tickets of any other ASTYRAIL carrier; these tickets are printed to a standard format, and valid for scheduled links on commuter airlines and passenger ferries that are operated by Astyrail connection partners to and from Astyria, allowing free transport between Romberg and Astyria.
Where to use RSB card.
With the RSB having a unified urban transit system, RSB cards and their Astyrail sister cards can be used on all public transport systems such as the bus networks that serve the different cities within Romberg as well as on RSB train services. This means that when you arrive at the end point of your journey with us, and need to get to your final destination, your RSB Card or Astyrail syster card can be used for those journeys too, so even if you have not got any Universal Standard Dollars or Rombergian Kronas to buy a ticket, you can still get around. Astyrail cards such as the RSB Card are not restricted to travel on routes to and from the railway station, but can be used on ANY bus or coach trip within the nation. In addition, upon showing a valid RSB card, booking of all flights between Romberg and Astyria can enjoy a 50% discount.
Dining Aboard RSB
Food choices onboard RSB trains are extensive, serving both worldwide cuisine and the best of Rombergian food, a combination of German, Scandinavian and Slavic favourites. These are always served to high quality equivalent to that of the average Rombergian restaurant at least, but for a low price, at the cheapest ◊5.00 (NS$4.00) for a main course. Of course, food quality is not affected one bit by the low price though, and would prove to not only be hearty and filling, but a satisfying experiences to the palate. We also have a wide range of drinks to select from, including alcohol products which are renowned worldwide. On the other side of things though, payment of the meals can be made with cash, credit or debit cards or even the RSB card, the same viper card that you used to buy the ticket, and whilst you are purchasing the food on your RSB card, earn RSBK Points to go towards your RSBK balance.
All food onboard is certified Kosher and Halal for those who need to eat items that comform to a specific faith requirement and is fully tracable through the Food Preperation and Location program, locally sourced through a dedicated supply chain. All animal products come from farms which practice the highest levels of animal welfare before they are slaughtered, and are certified to not contain any additives.
Security
As per Rombergian law and due to the lack of direct borders crossed by RSB trains, the security measures on RSB trains are lower than that of other AstyRail lines, but are enough nonetheless to protect the safety of all passengers. They include a mandatory check of a valid travel document onboard the train, mainly a valid drivers' license or identity card for Rombergian citizens or a passport for foreigners, as well as a RSB train ticket, and also a quick X-ray scan of each piece of luggage at the stations of departure and arrival. However, passengers do not need to arrive at the train station early, unlike airline flights. Each train has on board 2 Rail Police; these are part of the Rombergian Federal Police (Landspolizei) and are easily identified by their uniforms and are responsible for carrying out policing duties aboard the trains.
Passengers wishing to travel must have:
Valid Identity Document (Identity Card/Drivers' License for Rombergian citizens, passport for foreigners)
Valid Astyrail or RSB train ticket
Airport or port stations will not check passengers for valid travel documents; however the station complex is built beside the actual airport or port, where a check for a valid passport and boarding ticket would indeed take place.
Transportation of the following items are not permitted to be carried on RSB transportation services:
Firearms, Explosives, Radioactive or Biohazard material, other Weapons such as knives, Flammable liquids such as model aircraft fuel or lighter fluid. Alcohol is limited to not more than 1 bottle or 6-can pack of an alcoholic drink not purchased on the train or station, Tobacco is limited to 6 packs of 20 cigarettes; however the smoking of tobacco, marijuana or the use of artificial cigarettes are NOT PERMITTED on RSB services.
We Apologise for any inconvenience this may cause
