Interesting article, that may help in PMC research.
The only issue I have with him is that he lost his objectivity as a journalist when he picked up a rifle. Although, I think he no longer considers himself a journalist.

He seems to be a 'mercenary' in all but the conventional sense, i.e. trading expertise for currency. I disagree with his organization's name. Psychologically, he seems to allude to himself as a real-life 'Big Boss' from the Metal Gear Solid series. He sports a similar look, minus the eye-patch and missing arm. I would have gone with a more neutral and less video-game inspired group name, which might have garnered a bit more legitimacy from like-minded groups.

Such a solution was proposed by SOFREP as a viable, low-cost, 'zero-footprint' solution for combating ISIS. However, their suggestion involved a significant presence of OGA advisers training TCN (third-country national) personnel in lieu of local recruits. The biggest issue there is the massive bureaucratic mess the US intelligence community and USSOCOM have become over the 14-year GWOT. It would serve as an excellent means to insert a few clandestine advisers if Uncle Sam begins paying attention.

My personal gripes aside, this is one of the more organized solutions I've seen for involving US volunteers in the fight against ISIS. Peshmergas are poorly-supplied due to political tensions, and religious/tribal schisms account for much of the Iraqi desertions. Capitalizing on the Christian population in the US is an excellent way of securing funding, an avenue I hadn't considered. He will, however, have a hard time attracting quality advisory personnel. High-ranking officers are often more trouble than they're worth (a former LTC runs my current detail and he's terrible at it. He's never run an element this small, even as a CPT with 75th Rangers), and many lack practical leadership experience with units as small as they will likely be running in this setting. Former special warfare personnel are far too well paid (in general) to consider this an option, unless they're part of the newer breed of operators that don't have the decade-plus experience from GWOT and see this as an opportunity to legitimize themselves with combat experience and a legitimate FID mission.

I will keep an eye on it, however. There aren't many overseas gigs worth the money these days, and the ones that are generally fill up with Tier 1 personnel rather quickly.

The GTRF RP is still going on, we just hit some snags. As happens when you have a bunch of people involved, and they all play crucial parts, this can slow things down a bit when we wait on posts. Thanks for hanging in there.

So the GTRF RP is dead, unfortunately. Sorry about that and I thank everyone for their patience and sticking with it as long as you did.

We have a couple options.
We could reboot the idea with different players, IC rebels and host nation.

Or, we could simplify, perhaps pitting one or more of us against the others in some sort of battle royale. In other words, taking opposing contracts in a war, either having client allies, or just referring to NPC nations that we don't even need to RP much.

Some variation thereof. My vote in any case is to do away with the recon infiltration spy stuff. While it's fun, at least for me, I think it can bog down the RP and we all want to get to the shoot em up part quicker.

I'm open to other suggestions and ideas, so let er fly.

All I ask is that you be honest, with foreseen circumstances, on how much you can commit, if at all, which will help decide what part you could play. So, what do we think?

Alright, so this is in regards to the GTRF thread, which has unfortunately died on us. I've spoken with Ngol and a bit, and he and I bounced a couple ideas back and forth. One was kinda a 'Guild Civil War' in a sense, companies taking on contracts that put them on opposite sides in a conflict. Another idea is perhaps squaring off with another cooperation, perhaps we overthrow some nameless nation? Than are many possibilities. Anyone out there still interested?

I'm going to guess you meant corporation and were posting from your phone. Happens.
So, yeah. Guild Civil War was one idea, building on what I said earlier. Two opposing clients (more than likely NPC nations, corporations, rebel factions, etc.) hire Guild members, which finds us on either side of a conflict. As we don't have any clause which prohibits taking up opposing contracts, this could be entirely possible. Hilarity ensues...er, combat, I mean, as we go for the same objectives.

That's one option, the other is doing the same set up as Gold Lion.

There's other options, including several variations of those two mentioned options, maybe with more outside players involved. I think we want to limit who is involved based on what kind of commitment they can make to RP, obviously.

Is it based on the RL Aegis, the UK PMC? Not saying rip them off (don't plagiarize them), but maybe take some more pointers from their website. In lieu of the storefront, I would ask for some of your best RP posts, but I can look posts up on my own.
I don't want to discourage you, and I hope you stick around and have some fun on NS and get some more experience. Work on improving your game (your writing), then maybe come back to us in a year or so, and really wow us. I'd like to see that and I think you're capable of it. Basically this. We do try to get RPs going together and also swing business (GE&T or II RPs) towards members who want or need it. Also forming a united front against the anti-PMC crowd.
