BDI came about recently in 2013 as a way for the Toft Family and select close business partners to pool their economic assets to make one powerhouse corporation that could bankroll multiple operations and be able to allocate resources to the division or asset that most needed help or to quickly integrate newly acquired assets.
They look to bring on other trusted family brands and bring them their full dues and revitalize them for the modern market. While BDI may not be a long established company, its portfolio is made up of family established companies that have been in operation for generations and sometimes centuries. As the name suggests, BDI is headquartered in Burgunden, Zurich Canton, Neu Engollon.

~ A large mining and resource extraction concern with several operations globally, such as in Johamlandia. Vasaille has many concerns domestically in the Rhone and Comte-Alpe Cantons. Natural gas, Iron Ore, Bauxite, Limestone, Chrome, Copper, tin and Silver are it's main operations. Over the last few years they have gone through a major overhaul to cut down on tailing waste and lessen environmental impact. They have been rewarded with a championship team that consistently makes it into the top three in the AVRU, which in turn generates massive ticket sales in the home stadium and merchandise sales that are incredible. Schwyz Logiztek {(65% Stake) 2012 Revenue = No records}
HQ: Seewen, Schwyz Canton & Schwartzgarten, Grisbenden Canton, Neu Engollon

~ This is a military oriented company that makes and designs a variety of transport, logistic and support vehicles, aircraft and vessels both for the military and commercial sectors. Few of the military designs overlap to offensive capability. There was a need that not many other global arms manufacturers were fulfilling of proper logistic, supply and command and control vehicles and aircraft, so the Confederacy commissioned Schwyz Logiztek to provide for the important gaps left in the Confederacy's Defense Forces. With Neu Engollon's focus on arms manufacturing generally on smaller weapons and such, many of the designs are sold, or worked with other national arms industries in the development phase. Currently, they have released the GA9 RCC Baron, GA72 RCC General, and the LIRCAS 'Sergeant' to use outside of the NEDAF. These aircraft are produced and configured in partnership with Genesis Aerosystems.
Schwyz Logiztek is partially nationally funded, with continuing top secret work in process. Sales are restricted.

San Remo Ospreys RFC {(64% Stake) 2012 Revenue = $87,662,000}
HQ: San Remo, Liguria Canton, Neu Engollon

~ Another top rugby club in the Alpen Valley Rugby Union that has won a recent championship.and also placed numerous times in the International Seasogs. Just like with the Brawlers, BDI has brought in trusted, wise managers to make decisions and keep a strong solid club that would build a dynasty over a long period. They have been rewarded with a championship team that consistently makes it into the top five in the AVRU, which in turn generates impressive ticket sales in the home stadium and excellent merchandise sales.

Pine Grove Restaurant and Bars {(50% Stake) 2012 Revenue = $3,373,392,323}
HQ: Burgunden, Zurich, Neu Engollon

~ Formerly a division of Beaulieu Group, a conglomerate run by the Branden Family. The Pine Grove chain was sold off, along with many other divisions, to make some capital for Beaulieu Group and to scale down as they changed direction. The other half of the company is owned by GIC (General Industries Corporation) headquartered out of New Alton,ViZion.
Pine Grove is an award winning and world renowned establishment, serving everything from gourmet burgers to after-dinner luxury teas. It is the second largest dining establishment in Woodstead, and holds over 2,000 outlets outside of its fatherland. Pine Grove has a reputation for producing well priced, hearty and contemporary food and drink, which GIC and BDI have continued with their ownership, as well as revitalizing the restaurant group into a themed, rustic hunting lodge atmospheric chain.

Burgunden Breuerie {(42% Stake) 2012 Revenue = Currently Being Assessed}
HQ: Burgunden, Zurich Ctn, Neu Engollon

~ One of the most famous businesses in the Confederacy, BB is a solid world brand. The main original brewery is ancient, and has gone through several Master Brewers over that time. The Toft family, which also holds the top spots in BDI, have been the main owners of BB for most of its existence. The distribution is top rate, using trusted companies in the air, on land and at sea. The different products within the line are based off solid traditional recipes and the new innovative brews are brought on to keep the line fresh. The sales staff are continually at work pushing into new markets across the globe. The controlling stake in BB is also held by the Toft family, but independently of BDI, with many legal divisions and protections in place.

Burgunden BreuPubs {(Subsidiary of Burgunden Breuerie) Revenue = Currently Being Assessed}
HQ: Burgunden, Zurich Ctn, Neu Engollon

~ BB always ran a few BreuPubs around the Confederacy, which did really well. It was only recently in the last couple years that they decided to branch out of the nation's borders. They have been strong with both comfort pub cuisine and fine gourmet dishes. They include regional dishes around where their International restaurants are based, which has helped to boost the success of their newer global locations. The prime key to success is being a brew pub and focusing on the beer menu, which includes both BB and many other International award winning beers and ales

Gertner's Cider {(Subsidiary of Burgunden Breuerie) 2012 Revenue = Currently Being Assessed}
HQ: Monleux, Rhone Ctn, Neu Engollon

~ Another long standing traditional family brand that has made cider, perry and apple based alcoholic beverages for centuries. The Albertville area has long enjoyed their ciders and it spread throughout Neu Engollon over a longer period of time. With the International spread of Burgunden Breuerie, it was shown that well crafted and age brewed Neu Engollian beverages would go over well with the global community. Recently, due to issues of ascension and other financial concerns, Burgunden Breuerie bought out the Gertner's brand and has added to their distribution line, while maintaining staff and in fact, expanding production jobs within the division. The Gertner family was well compensated and BDI agreed to sell their portion of shares to Burgunden Breueries.

Cole Golf Courses and Shops {(22.4% Stake) 2012 Revenue = No records}
HQ: Blue Stream

~ A company that is blowing up huge for sporting goods as well as sport hosting. They also construct custom links by request. This is a burgeoning, growing company, with a nearly untapped niche there for their taking. Their pro shops are in high demand and there is a whole system of Cole golfing courses across Neu Engollon that is near completion. Look for lots of growth from this growing entertainment oriented company.

Electronic Village {(20% Stake) 2012 Revenue = No records}
HQ: Stretta

~ A recent company to take Astyria and more regions by storm, EV is the powerhouse of high-end electronic retailers, blowing any competitors away. They are increasing at a hard to track rate and were happy to take the capital of BDI to ensure they could keep up with demand. They are an ethical business that believes in proper labor practices as well as Green processes that preserve the planet. They believe in their staying power, and so does BDI, which backs them wholeheartedly.

deAlaya Motorworks {(18.75% Stake) 2012 Revenue = No records}
HQ: Eochaill, Maltropia

~ A prestigious and innovative automobile manufacturer that has been making classic sports cars as well as reasonably affordable every day cars since almost the start of automobile history, in 1928. This company is a rock solid standard of the multiverse automobile industry and only continues to expand. They have recently built expansion factories and are pushing ever forward in the International market.

First Bank of New Zepuha {(12.8% Stake) 2012 Revenue = No records}
HQ: New Zepuha

~ A small, regional bank starting that is opening International branches. This institution is starting to get notice for its innovative financial services. With government backing and a strong national economy, plus a firm foundation set with mineral standards, this bank is not going anywhere but up.

Governo do Reino do Brasil - Gabinete do Primeiro-Ministro

To. Jan Toft, Burgunden Diversified Industries
From. Adriana Freire, The Prime-Minister of Reino do Brazil

Dear Mr. Toft,

The Government of this country is re-lauching its minning industry. Based on the latest studies commissioned by
the Ministry of Minning, those have shown large deposits of silver, in the South and gold in the Centre. We are
Interested in a partnership with Vasaille Resources Inc to help us to do the job. For those specific commodities
we could reach an agreement by negotiating the minning rights between us and the Company. We sincerely hope
that you find interest in this matter so we can start with negotiations.
Very much looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours Faithfully, AFreire

Re: Mining concessions; silver and gold recovery operations

Ms. Freire,

We are most sincerely happy to have received your missive about the relaunching of the mining industry in your Kingdom. I am sorry for the late reply, but the letter was forwarded on to me quite late by inter-BDI delivery. The intern in question has been dismissed.
We would be most willing to send in survey and operation initiations team from Vasaille Resources Inc to help in the recovery of your precious resources. We would be interested in hearing specifics of terms in which we would be able to profit from this venture. Thank you and be sure to contact me directly in the future about all Mining Operations.

Sincerely,

Jean Maquinois, VP of Vasaille Resources Operations, Division of Burgunden Diversified Industries

UnionCrop Group is a holdings fund that invests in stakes in emerging agricultural storefronts, hoping to transform and inject capital into new ideas.

It currently consists of:

LYMINC Golden Mountain Farms [20%] Reino do Brazil Agricultural Platform [12.5%*]Happy Trout,Tuna, Lobster [12.5%] Cusin International Superstores[20.2%] Serenely Barbecued Chicken[2.5%]Turino Foods [75%]Exodus Fishing Co?

RE: UnionCrop Group Negotiations

Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Craig Barnes, CEO of UnionCrop. I am messaging you today to talk about an enterprise deal and partnership concerned about the many restaurants, breweries and other "eating and drinking" outlets under your ownership. However first I would like to explain who we are:

The aim of UnionCrop Group is to provide a foundation for agricultural goods and products, firmly connecting suppliers, retailers, wholesalers and producers. It aims to invest in emerging NS businesses and provide a network to help them grow, whilst holding shares in the companies. It hopes, following backing from major financial institutions, to float an index on the stock exchange. Instead of investors buying shares in one company, the index will cover a large portion of the agricultural and food production market as a whole.

UnionCrop has already negotiated with producers such as Reino Do Brazil, with agricultural platforms & fishing companies along with Cusin Ownership Deals. As a result UnionCrop has invested in 7 NS firms, with another 4 in negotiation. . Union Crop would like to purchase a large stake in each of the companies (Naturnalia Pet Foods,Burgunden Breuerie,Burgunden BreuPubs,Gertner's Cider ,
Pine Grove Restaurant and Bars ) to expand the portfolio. However rather than purchase them outright, UnionCrop ,once the index is running, would happily hand over shares of the same value. This allows your group to profit significantly if the index grows in worth.

e.g if a 3% share cost $20bn, when the index is open, your group will own $20bn worth of shares in the agricultural index.
Your group will have the opportunity to make significant gains if the index were to increase in price.

Many thanks,

?=under negotiation, *= deal agreed, details under refinement

To: Craig Barnes, CEO of UnionCrop Group, Turino
From: Jan Toft, Pres. & CEO of BDI
Re: UnionCrop Stock Acquisition of BDI Divisions

Mr. Barnes,

I wanted to contact you to say that we haven't missed your communication and weren't ignoring it either. Rather, we here at BDI are seriously considering it and have had meetings to discuss the possibilities you offer. At the moment, I can not give you a positive answer, but neither have we rejected it. Please know that we are still considering your proposition and inspecting it from every angle. Due to the fact that some control would be lost over our divisions, we naturally have some misgivings that must be addressed. One question I have for you is that you mentioned a stock exchange, is that one that would be created under the UnionCrop banner, or another such previously established stock exchange? Another would be who actually ultimately controls the stock we relinquish control over? Also, for your information, Burgunden BreuPubs does not have stock shares of its own, as it is a division of Burgunden Breueries and Pine Grove Restaurants are only half owned by BDI, with the other half owned by General Industries Corporation based in ViZion. We would need to consult with them before any such decision was made on Pine Grove Restaurants. We thank you for addressing these concerns and your continued patience.

Sincerely,

Jan Toft, CEO and President, Burgunden Diversified Industries

Re: Oil Supply

Mr. Lakey,

We are most pleased to have another supplier available for crucial resources. I am sure that we can work out some kind of favorable deal that will be beneficial to both of us. I will send a team out to your headquarters so that we can work out the fine details and get the workings of a foundation contract. Our resources division, Vasaille Resources, will also benefit greatly from this and we hope that we can form some kind of partnership between Pegasus and Vasaille for joint ventures in the future.

To be honest, we have been wanting to move away from relying on Griffencrest Oil for some obvious reasons, and we are also seeing the limits of some of our other suppliers, who have been unable to deliver at the volume we expect. Having more oil/gas suppliers to rely on can only be for the best.

I look forward to continuing communications with you and your people.

Saltbridge Sun’s CEO Interview Series: Exclusive Interview with Chairman of Burgunden Diversified Industries, Mr. Jan Toft

Editor’s Note: This interview is part of Saltbridge Sun’s CEO interview series. This series is with Chairman of Burgunden Diversified Industries, Mr. Jan Toft
Image
Mr. Jan Toft

Jan Toft was born in the northern Burgunden suburb of Embrach on the 14th of March, 1948, as Neu Engollon was going through a mini-boom and the region of Astyria was just struggling through the tail end of the Second Great Astyrian War. His family was already well established, for some generations, as the owners of the Confederacy's most successful brewery, Burgunden Breuerie. Burgunden Breuerie had already been in operation for two centuries when it was taken over by Erich Toft, who rose up from Brew Master to buy the small operation from the previous owners in 1783. The Tofts proceeded to make Burgunden Breuerie become a household name across the Confederacy for the next two centuries. Jan's grandfather, Barnabas Toft, set his sights on expanding the family empire beyond the brewing industry and started to invest into other Neu Engollian ventures such as Vasaille Resources and the casinos that were starting operation in Panoli and the surrounding Mederano coast area. Jan grew up assisting in the breuerie and learning the trade. He strained his back hauling large malt and hops bags to and fro. His father took over upon Barnabas' death, and as Jan exited his teen years, he was put on the path of gaining a business education at Burgunden University that would enable him to prepare to take over the family empire and continue to expand their holdings. Jan received his graduate degree and was immediately put in charge of the Presarius Plaza Hotel chain as CEO, where he excelled and cut his teeth in the hospitality and service industry. He carried those lessons over to Burgunden Breuerie, the pillar company of the Toft family empire and still the main profitable enterprise. Tradition was never abandoned in favor of the bottom line.

In recent years, more acquisitions were added to the Toft family portfolio and it was seen as essential to transfer these holdings to an umbrella conglomerate corporation, rather than have them tied directly to the family coffers, for the security of the family. Also, family friends and fellow business mavens in the Confederacy were willing to join their capital in order to build a strong Neu Engollian corporation that could compete and gain in a regional and International scale. The Tell family was one of these investor groups. Hence, Burgunden Diversified Industries was born. BDI was named after the largest, most famous city in the Confederacy, which was also the ancestral home of the Tofts. The conglomerate holds trillions of dollars in assets currently and looks to expand further and has major projects in the works such as helping to develop AstyBev, the Astyrian beverage conglomerate. Recently, Jan stepped down from Burgunden Breueries, handing the family business over to his son, David, in order to focus on BDI full time.

Having started and built many multimillion-dollar and a billion-dollar business, how important was it to have the right leadership within your organization?
The right leadership is essential. Without it, a key block of BDI might fail. Recognizing leadership and recognizing failure to lead are equally essential skills that help divisions within BDI continue to grow and not stagnate.

They say anyone can become a leader. Is it really possible? Aren’t their people who have traits that make them unfit to be a leader?
This is certainly true that some are unfit to be leaders. While most who are not made to be leaders filter out in a natural process, some need to be given the harsh reality that their 'leadership' is unwanted and unproductive to those that they lead. Denying true leaders the ability to continue to lead those that they already have admirably, however, is also a grave mistake. When we bring on new companies to the BDI family, we try as much as possible to hang on to the entrepreneur CEOs that started the companies in the first place. They were natural leaders to get their companies to the point that we recognized their value. Upon their loss, we have tall shoes to fill. Unfortunately, we face that from time to time as some of these entrepreneur CEOs are selling their companies in order that they can move on in life and retire.

What is one mistake you witness leaders making more frequently than others?
Failure to delegate. You must have a solid crew under you to be able to perform all the tasks and achieve all the goals you wish to fulfill. If you can't trust them to lead in your stead, what is the point? Delegation to management and so on down the chain is crucial to avoid burnout. Along with that, you must know when to step down and realize you are no longer able to do an effective job. When some major health issues arose and stress started to overwhelm me, I was able to count on my son, David, to take over the primary family business, Burgunden Breueries. Now I can focus on BDI full time and not be stretched too thin, as well as work on keeping in good health and shape.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing leaders today?
Technology and how to use it effectively. Change is inevitable. Leaders that fail to realize that will find themselves and their corporations left behind. Leaders that buy up the newest technology, without the trained personnel or game plan to implement it and recoup that investment, lose out just as much as those that don't take advantage of new innovation.
Change is inevitable. Leaders that fail to realize that will find themselves and their corporations left behind.

What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?
Have confidence in yourself, as well as those you lead. Do not underestimate those you lead unless they give you reason not to do so. Your confidence infuses those you lead and it is returned back to you tenfold, when you can trust that your people can keep things from going off the rails in this crazy world. In turn, they trust you to guide them through when the crazy world does spin out of control.

To: Fred Walken, Executive Vice-Chairman of the Legion Corporation, The Recon Empire
From: Jan Toft, President & CEO of BDI
Re: Legion Corporation Board of Directors

Mr. Walken,

I have done much deliberation over your letter and your offer and weighed out the advantages of being on such a board as your legendary Legion Corporation. There seem to be few detractors to such a situation, other than having less time to devote to BDI and other family business. As you may know, I stepped down as head of Burgunden Breueries in order to devote more time to BDI, with my son, David, stepping up as CEO of BB. As well, my brother, Franz, has been instrumental in his duties both at BDI and elsewhere with shared concerns of the Toft family empire, when not attending Culture Ministry duties, while I have recovered from some mild maladies. Which leads back to me...I seem to have a bit more time on my hands than I anticipated, and my health has greatly improved. I think that this would be a refreshing new challenge and I am looking forward to helping a fellow corporation keep on track and excelling at what they do.

I will gladly accept this offer and shall sign off the papers today. I look forward to serving on such a prestigious board and offering my seasoned expertise. Please let me know of how else I can smoothly aid in the processing of this advancement and appointment.

Sincerely,

Jan Toft, CEO and President, Burgunden Diversified Industries

This letter would have been sent out late August of this previous year, 2017, when the event actually happened. I will be having a memorial thread for Jan, for those interested in having their characters attend, whether they be fellow business mavens or government representatives, keep an eye out or get in touch with me if you'd like to participate.

To: Our Friends and Colleagues in the business community
From: Franz Toft, Chairman of the Board of BDI
Re: The passing of Jan Toft

To Whom It May Concern,

On behalf of our whole family, it is with great sadness that I must inform you all of the passing of my brother, Jan, on 26 August, 2017. As some of you might have known, he was struggling with the ravages of advanced Alzheimer's disease, and the complications that arise from that horrible affliction. Due to these circumstances, he was forced to step down from his positions both here at BDI, and at our family business, Burgunden Breueries.

During the last couple years, his health had been in serious decline, yet he still tried to assist when possible in our corporate endeavors as he was never one to give up easily. I will dearly miss my brother, who was my best friend in life, as well as my most solid partner in all economic endeavors that we sought out. He will also be sorely missed by the rest of our family, as he was such a gentle, optimistic and charismatic soul and leader.

We have been grateful for all of your well wishes and condolences and will keep you informed as to the arrangements for the upcoming memorial and funereal services, both the public viewing as well as the more private service for colleagues and government representatives. We know what a beloved figure he was when it came to the public face of Toft family enterprises such as BDI, BB and other of our holdings.

Also be assured that all the above mentioned corporate entities are smoothly operating and it will be business as usual when it comes to dealings with all of our global partners and fellow enterprises in the industry. My niece Erica has things at Burgunden Breueries running smoothly, while David, my nephew and her brother, is keeping things at Terembev flourishing, not to mention the other various family enterprises being run by our relatives. Thank you again for being there for us in our trying times.

Sincerely,

Franz Toft, Chairman of the Board, Burgunden Diversified Industries
