A few things.

A) How can you purchase the Vatican? It's in RL. You could build a NS Vatican in your country or something.
B)The Vatican is not a relic, it's a country.

EDIT: Furthermore, I don't know anyone in NS or RL that if their leader was mad with power would say "Oh, well."

First of all, like Bergnovinaia said, you can't buy the Vatican.
I agree with him that you could create a fictional "Vatican", like my nation has the holy city of Gont, where the Gontic Church is based.
We can talk once you've done that.

Native religion in Sarrowquand has been pretty dead for the last hundred years or so but before that we were ruled by the Nerontyre Empire which had a deep fascination with the occult and occasionally looted other nations’ artefacts. We are currently in possession of a couple of these hand-me-down relics such as the socks of the first bishop of Rainhold and the skull of the 30th Nerontyre emperor’s cat.

Although these relics are of great religious and spiritual value we have preserved them only for their use in the study of our history, for which they have a fairly low value.

As such we would be willing to part with them, though I’m afraid the price would be rather steep. Would you care to make us an offer?
