Subject: Confirmation of purchase and transfer of production rights (Re: Light duty vehicles, ABM / ASAT platforms, et al.);
Clarification of purchase and production latency (Re: Nucliketsan Launch Vehicle).
Mr. Richards,
On behalf of the State Industries of Schultaria Prime - Designwerks, we are extremely gracious for your generous order. It is our sincerest hope that the products and domestic production rights you've purchased will serve the Mallaskan State's interests in space for decades to come, and will become a genetic platform from which your own aeronautics industries can build upon.
We take extreme pride in all of the products we build and sell, and the purchases you have made represent some of the most reliable and advanced technologies available in the commercial market today. The Komomerenketsan (aka KoMo) Spaceplane and Proketsan Launch Vehicles are the default launch platforms of the Schultarian Space Administration, and as such are exceptionally well-tested in the field under varying flight loads and inclement conditions. Likewise, all of our defensive platforms have proven to be reliable and steadfast orbital sentinels - saving hundreds of millions of civilians from the threat of ballistic missiles and orbital weapons platforms in numerous high-profile conflicts. Certainly not least, the Dommar's rugged engineering and unusually adaptable design characteristics makes it an excellent template from which the Department of Defense and Federal Space Agency can create their own functional platforms.
Unfortunately, however, the Nucliketsan purchase as ordered can not be honored by Designwerks Interkosmos. The purchase that you have requested, while quite generous, would take seven thousand and fifty-six days (7,056), or approximately nineteen years, four months, and three days to fulfill - a length of time that our legal department has suggested would fall under the auspices of a long-term supply contract.
Due to the highly complex nature of the launch vehicle, such a long-term order poses a liability for Interkosmos, as we wouldn't be able to honor any subsequent requests for the Nucliketsan platform without extensive and expensive modification of our manufacturing capabilities to build these platforms in tandem. We are willing to expand our manufacturing capabilities to accommodate your state's request, but such an expansion will require increased capital investment from the State Industries of Schultaria Prime. Our Actuarial Department estimates that a premium of thirty-five percent (35 %) over the current listed price, a total cost of 5,913,000,000 sm ($10,702,530,000) per vehicle, would be sufficient to expedite this order while providing other clients the opportunity to purchase the Nucliketsan.
Since demand for the vehicle has shown consistent growth, however, Designwerks is willing to assume up to 60% of that price increase (i.e. 21 % of the 35 %), in exchange for slower turn around of approximately 730 days per Nucliketsan for the first 5 deliveries until additional fabrication and manufacturing plants can be brought online. If this is acceptable, then the per vehicle cost would be 4,993,200,000 sm ($9,037,692,000) - a savings of $19,978,056,000, but with a production latency estimated at seven hundred and ten (710) days (approximately one year, eleven months, and one week).
Because we understand this is a highly unusual request, and requires significantly more intensive capital expenditure on behalf of the Mallaskan state, we shall withhold construction and charging for the Nucliketsan until we can come to an amicable agreement. In the meantime, we will start work on all of your other requests immediately.
In the interests of simplification for foreign exchange purposes, we shall credit said payment in universal standard dollars.
The billed price shall be as listed for the following products:
For a subtotal of $10,468,407,000 (Ten billion, four hundred sixty-eight million, four hundred and seven thousand)
For the production rights, the billed price shall be as listed:
For a subtotal of $41,004,990,000 (Forty-one billion, four million, nine hundred and ninety thousand)
Which completes to a total of $51,473,397,000 (Fifty-one billion, four hundred seventy-three million, three hundred ninety-seven thousand), to be paid upon delivery of the products listed.
Once again, thank you for your extremely generous patronage and we hope that you will visit us again soon.
Sincerely,
Kiishik Davoor Jr.
