In 1959, The Beaulieu Arms opened its doors in Woldland; 1973 marked the birth of an era to come, when the hotel's owner, Curtis Branden and the restaurant coordinator, Olek Opel, sold purchased three more nearby guest lodges. In 1985, recognised as Beaulieu Hotels, Branden and Opel befriended Kris Novak, owner of the 18 nationwide Zazoo Coffee Houses; Novak was struggling financially, and willing to share half the earnings, begged the couple to help him, now with a branded status, as Viva. After the death of Novak in 1997, the couple inherited 100%, and this now formed part of the entity The Beaulieu Group.

Within Woodstead, Osterra, and Beinai alone, The Beaulieu Group maintains 32,500 hotel rooms in 242 hotels; they prepare 6,300 dishes daily in 93 restaurants; 350,000 beverages are sold and served weekly in 223 outlets. The Beaulieu Group is now willing to expand by offering all three divisions of the company. The Beaulieu Group is going global.
