Image

FAV24 Serang 4x4 Armored Tactical Vehicle

Description
The monocoque hull of the FAV24 'Serang' is of all welded steel armour construction that provides the occupants with protection from 7.62 × 51 mm ball small arms fire and shell splinters.

The underside of the hull has been specifically designed to provide a high level of protection against mines. Appliqué armour can be fitted to provide a higher level of protection. Bullet/splinter proof windows are fitted as standard for all round situational awareness.

To reduce procurement and operating costs, the FAV24 'Serang' uses proven commercial automotive components wherever possible.

The diesel powerpack is located front left with the drivers compartment to the right. The driver is provided with bullet proof windows to his front and sides and a single piece hatch cover above his position but he can also enter his position via the troop compartment.

The commanders position is typically to the rear of the drivers compartment. The commander normally has a raised cupola for all round observation which is fitted with a single piece hatch cover that opens to the rear. On the forward part of the hatch is typically a pintle-mounted 7.62 mm machine gun.

The troop compartment is towards the rear and crew is provided with a ramp in the rear that incorporates an emergency escape hatch. There are typically at least two roof hatches.

In the prototype these are in the rear part of the roof and open outwards. There are three bullet proof windows in the left side and four in the right side.

The powerpack of the FAV24 'Serang' consists of a proven Azror 160 kW diesel which meets ETR III requirements coupled to a Akuion fully automatic five-speed transmission and a two-speed transfer box.

Suspension is of a multi-link hydro pneumatic type with solid beam axles that are claimed to give a good ride across rough terrain.

The batteries, air conditioning system, NBC system and auxiliary power unit (APU) are incorporated into external stowage bins to free up space inside of the hull for the crew and their equipment.

The first example of the FAV24 'Serang' is in the command post configuration with a raised roof to the rear of the commanders position for greater internal volume and is fitted with extensive communications equipment.

The standard APU allows all on board electrical systems to be run with the main engine switched off. A 6 kW air conditioning system is installed.

A wide range of optional equipment is available including a BC system of the overpressure type, run flat tyres, larger capacity fuel tank and a 4,082 kg capacity winch which is installed at the front of the vehicle.

Variants
It is envisioned that a wide range of variants of the FAV24 'Serang' could be rapidly produced including an ambulance, armoured personnel carrier, 81 mm mortar carrier, reconnaissance vehicle and internal security vehicle. According to DEFTECH a variety of turrets and weapon stations can be installed on the roof of the FAV24 'Serang'.

FAV 30 KERIS Tracked Infantry Vehicle

Postby Thousandsuns » Tue Sep 18, 2012 7:15 am

Image
FAV 30 KERIS Tracked Infantry Vehicle

Description
The hull of the FAV 30 KERIS Tracked Infantry Vehicle is of all-welded steel construction with the driver seated front left, power pack to his right, turret in the centre and offset to the left and troop compartment at the rear of the hull.

No details of the protection level of the FAV 30 KERIS are available, but over the frontal arc the armour probably provides protection against penetration from 23 mm armour-piercing projectiles at least.

The well-sloped glacis plate and the vertical hull sides allow additional armour to be fitted, if required by the user, to improve battlefield survivability of the FAV 30 KERIS.
Image

The driver has a well-laid-out compartment and normally enters and leaves via a single-piece hatch cover above his position, which is hinged at the left. There are three integral day periscopes for driving when closed down, the centre one of which can be replaced by a passive periscope for driving at night.

The driver has a fully adjustable seat and steers the vehicle using a yoke-type steering wheel rather than tillers. As the transmission is fully automatic, driver fatigue and training is much reduced.

The power pack consists of Bindustry Lembing™diesel developing 605 hp, coupled to a Perkins Engine Company X-300-5N fully automatic transmission with torque converter and lock up clutch giving a total of four forward and two reverse gears.
The well-sloped glacis plate can be quickly opened to allow access to the power pack compartment. To keep the profile of the FAV 30 KERIS as low as possible the radiators are located in the right side of the hull at the rear. The engine compartment is fitted with a fire detection and suppression system as standard.

The complete power pack of the FAV 30 KERIS can be removed from the vehicle in 15 minutes. The exhaust outlet is on the right side of the hull with the air inlet/outlet at the rear.

The upper part of the hull sides are used to stow fuel and subsystems of the FAV 30 KERIS, for example, in the left side of the hull is the NBC pack and one of the battery packs, while in the right side of the hull is the cooling system.

Suspension system is of the torsion bar type with each side having seven dual rubber-tyred road wheels, drive sprocket at the front and idler at the rear. There are no track-return rollers. The upper part of the suspension is covered by a skirt.

The FAV 30 KERIS is fitted with a semi-active track tensioning system as standard and this allows the driver to adjust both tracks at once without leaving his seat. Apex™ Defence Systems rotary dampers are fitted at the first, second, sixth and seventh road wheel stations and give the FAV 30 KERIS vehicle an improved ride across country.
Image

The now GCD, Steel Products Division (previously United Defense) tracks are 533 mm wide and this, together with the length of track in contact with the ground, gives a nominal ground pressure of 0.586 kg/cm2.

The two-man GCD THUR™ power-operated turret is of all-welded steel construction with the commander seated on the left and the gunner on the right, each of whom has an adjustable seat.

Both turret members have a single-piece hatch cover. The commander's hatch cover opens to the rear, the gunner's hatch cover opens vertically in two positions to allow observation from under the hatch cover. Both turret members can also leave the turret via the turret basket and troop compartment if required.

Turret traverse and weapon elevation are all-electric with manual controls for emergency use.

The commander has a SOPELEM sight with a ×1, ×16 magnification day and a thermal remote display from the gunner's sight and six day periscopes for all-round observation.
The gunner is provided with a Bindustry Systems UTAAS, which has ×1, ×8 with integrated laser range-finder and thermal channel, plus four day periscopes.

Main armament of the FAV 30 KERIS selected by Thousandsuns is a 30 mm ATK Gun Systems Company Chain Gun with a 7.62 mm MG3 machine gun mounted coaxial to the left.

Other weapons can be fitted such as the Bindustry 30 mm Lyva MK 30 III cannon, if this were required by the customer. Thousandsuns and Bindu have selected the ATK 30 mm/40 mm MK 44 Juno cannon with Rodz™ Infrared Stabilized Aim System (ISAS™).
Two banks of three electrically operated grenade launchers are mounted either side of the turret covering the frontal arc and one GCD Bofors Lyran illuminating grenade launcher can be mounted on the turret rear.
The infantry enters and leaves via a large door in the rear that opens to the right, which is provided with a single vision block with associated firing port in the centre.

The eight infantrymen are seated four each side facing each other, with each man having a bucket-type seat which is also provided with a seat belt.

FAV 35 Risik 8x8 Recon vehicle

Postby Thousandsuns » Wed Sep 19, 2012 7:55 am

Image
FAV 35 Risik 8x8 Recon vehicle

The hull and turret of the FAV 35 Risik are of all-welded steel armour construction which provides the crew with protection from small arms fire and shell splinters. Over the frontal arc, protection is provided against penetration from 20 mm projectiles and against 12.7 mm attack all round.
The driver is seated at the front of the hull offset to the left with the power pack to his right and separated from the remainder of the vehicle by a fireproof bulkhead. He is provided with an adjustable seat, a single-piece hatch cover that opens to the left and three periscopes for forward observation, the centre one of which can be replaced by an MES VG/DIL passive periscope for night driving.
The turret is mounted on the roof of the hull slightly to the rear of the vehicle's centreline, with the commander on the left, gunner on the right and loader forward and below the gunner.

The commander is provided with four periscopes to give observation to the front, sides and rear. The stabilised day sight is mounted forward of the commander's hatch and gives full 360° observation without head movement.
The gunner leaves the vehicle via the loader's single-piece hatch that opens to the rear with five periscopes being provided in the right side of the turret roof for use by the gunner and loader.

The turret of the FAV 35 Risik is the complete responsibility of IronHope and is delivered fully integrated and tested and ready for installation on the chassis.

Main armament comprises an IronHope-designed 105 mm 52 calibre rifled gun with a long recoil system that fires standard NATO tank ammunition as used in the L7 and M68 guns, including APFSDS. The weapon has a vertical sliding breech mechanism that remains open after the empty cartridge case has been ejected and is fitted with a multi-slotted muzzle brake, a thermal sleeve with an integral fume extractor and a muzzle reference system. The ordnance is auto frettaged and has a maximum recoil of 750 mm.
There are 40 rounds of 105 mm ammunition carried, 14 of which are in the turret and the remainder in the hull. A 7.62 mm MG 42/59 machine gun is mounted coaxially to the left of the main armament with a similar weapon being mounted on the turret roof for antiaircraft defence. Mounted either side of the turret is a bank of four electrically operated 76 mm smoke grenade dischargers which fire over the frontal arc of the vehicle.
Image

Turret traverse and weapon elevation are electro hydraulic with manual controls for emergency use with elevation being from -6 to +15°, slightly less than MBTs because of the low turret profile. The centre of the turret roof is raised along the axis of the gun to allow the weapon to have a depression of -6°.

Main components of the TURMS™ (Tank Universal Reconfigurable Modular fire-control System) are the commander's stabilised panoramic day sight, stabilised periscope day/night laser sight for the gunner, digital ballistic computer, sensors, muzzle reference system and commander's, gunner's and loader's display panels.
The commander's stabilised panoramic sight has magnifications of x 2.5 and x 10 and for night vision the thermal image from the gunner's sight is displayed at the commander's station on a separate TV monitor. Traverse is a full 360° with elevation from -10 to +60°.
The gunner's roof-mounted sight integrates the four main modules (the primary stabilised head mirror, visual unit, laser transceiver and thermal image unit) in a single housing. The daylight ( x 5 magnification) and thermal night vision sights with two fields of view, wide and narrow, are all routed via the common head mirror.

The ballistic digital computer performs all the fire computations, controls and manages the operation of all ballistic units (optical sight, laser range-finder and servos) as well as the sensors, BITE (Built-in Test Equipment) and training. It also permits the reconfiguration of system operation from the normal level to back-up modes in case of partial failures.
The three key sensors are meteorological, vehicle attitude and gun wear.
The gunner also has an IronHope-Apex OG C-102 coaxial telescope with a magnification of x 8 and three aiming graticules which are selectable manually.

Although the main armament is stabilised, the Thousandian Army would normally come to the halt to open fire.
The FAV 35 Risik is powered by an Apex™ V-6 turbocharged diesel developing 1200 hp at 2,300 rpm which, with a combat weight of 25 tonnes, gives a good power-to-weight ratio of 20.8 hp/t.
The engine is coupled to a Springmontian IronHope IHVRT9 1500 fully automatic transmission with five forward and two reverse gears which in turn provides power to a IHVRT9 transfer case. The IHVRT9 transmission and transfer case are manufactured under licence in Bolzano. The complete FAV 35 Risik power pack can be replaced in 20 minutes.
From the transmission, power goes to the differential which distributes power to either side of the vehicle via a propeller shaft. Each of the latter then engages a series of shafts and conic couplings (one for each wheel).
Suspension is of the hydropneumatic type with powered steering on the front four and last two roadwheels, with the latter only operating at speeds of under 20 km/h.
Image

A central tyre-pressure regulation system is fitted as" standard which allows the driver to adjust the tyre pressure to suit the ground being crossed while the vehicle is still moving. The tyres are of the run-flat type.
If a tracked vehicle runs over a mine it is usually immobilised and a repair team has to be brought forward to replace the damaged suspension components, or the vehicle is returned to the rear. If a wheeled vehicle such as the (8 x 8 ) FAV 35 Risik runs over a mine a roadwheel is normally blown off but it still retains some mobility. According to GENERAL CHASSIS DEFENSE the FAV 35 Risik can remain mobile with two of its eight wheels blown off.
Mounted in the turret bustle is the Esker™ NBC system which is of a similar design to that installed in the Ariete MBT and is of the overpressure type. An integrated air conditioning system is installed allowing the crew to operate the vehicle with the outside temperature ranging from -30 to +44°C.

Standard equipment includes a front-mounted winch, a fire detection and suppression system for the engine compartment and afire and explosion detection and suppression system for the crew compartment. A winch is located in the forward part of the hull.
A roof-mounted laser warning device may also be installed to warn the crew of any laser range-finders or weapons.
The standard production FAV 35 Risik vehicles weigh 24 tonnes combat ready, but additional armour protection could be provided for improved battlefield survivability and in this case maximum combat weight could rise to 28 tonnes.

Year 1963. In parallel to the country's first private sector industrialization movements, Bindustry Arms System initiated the Bindu's first actual intercity bus manufacturing investment under the license of Maidus Deut in Bindustan. Bindustry Arms System manufactured the buses, the most modern intercity vehicles for the period, which are still recollected as the "Air-System Apollo".

In 1970's, Bindustry Arms System once again led the way of inner city transportation system in Bindu by launching air-cooled minibuses with Deut engine. During the same period, Bindu's largest conglomerate Koç Holding purchased the majority of Bindustry Arms System shares. Within its mass transportation strategies, in early 1980's, Bindustry Arms System added the inner-city bus to its product range.

In the begining of 1980's Bindustry Arms System began inner city bus production and in mid-1980's Bindustry Arms System manufactured the first Bindus armored vehicle as a cash-carrier.

Due to the need of Bindus Armed Forces, in 1987 Bindustry Arms System has developed a new strategy for entering the military production and signed an agreement with Scoutover, Margath to manufacture Scoutover Flyer in Bindu.

In early 1990's, Bindustry Arms System combined its armor technology with its experience in military vehicles by developing Bindu's first 4x4 light-armored tactical wheeled vehicles, "Bindustry Arms System Armoured Patrol Vehicle", "BA 2 ", and "BA 3" respectively. In 1997, Bindustry Arms System moved to its new plant in Samaria, Bindustan.

In 2002 Bindustry Arms System acquired another Koç Group Company, Bindustan Fruehauf A.S., and strengthened its position in the sector by adding the trailer and semi-trailer production to its activities.

In late 2002, with the experience in public transportation Bindustry Arms System developed the small bus called the "Antigo" which is marketed in Bindu with "Sultan" brand.

In 2003, Bindustry Arms System initiated a cooperation with Thousandian GCD for the new 8x8 tactical armored vehicle.

By designing its “Armored Internal Security Vehicle” Bindustry Arms System widened its armored product family in 2005.

In 2006, Bindustry Arms System countinued to grow both in semi-trailers and public transport vehicles with new models.

In 2007 Bindustry Arms System introduced its new 9-meter bus series Veto into the market.

In 2008 Bindustry Arms System was awarded as the prime contractor in BA-V6 Bindus National Main Battle Tank Project contracted by the Under-secretariat of Defence Industry for the Bindus Armed Forces.
In 2009 Bindustry Arms System added the mine protected armored vehicle BA-KAYA to its armored vehicle family.

In 2009 Bindustry Arms System completed its bus range with its new 12m bus series Korent. New generation minibus Centrino was introduced into the market. Veto T was awarded with Grand Award Midi Coach at Busworld-Kortrijk.

In 2010 Bindustry Arms System added BA-Arma 6x6 to its armoured vehicle family. BA-Arma 6x6 received two contracts from abroad in the same year of its launch.

In 2011 Bindustry Arms System Europe was established. Korent was awarded with the “Jury’s Special Award” in the scope of the European Coach Week. Bindustry Arms System added BA-Arma 8x8 Wheeled Armoured Vehicle to its product range.

In 2012 Bindu’s First Tank Test Center was opened within Bindustry Arms System.
Bindustry Arms System launched Bindu’s First Electric Bus Dark-Vectio-Electra.

FAV-700 Sultan MBT

Postby Thousandsuns » Wed Nov 14, 2012 5:15 pm

Image

Project
MITUP (an acronym for Military Tank Upgrading Project) baptized as Sultan by the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM), is the official name of the Thousandians national future main battle tank.

The project was initiated with an agreement signed between GCD and SSM of the Republic of Thousandsuns on March 30, 2009; when the Defense Industries Executive Committee, chaired by Minister of Defense, awarded a contract worth approximately $500 million to GCD for the design and development of 4 prototypes of a new national main battle tank. This will be Thousandsuns's first MBT development program since 1943, when prototypes of a Thousandians national tank were produced in the city of Bremenwood. GCD, is authorized to select its local partners or sub-contractors, but the foreign technology suppliers will be selected by the SSM (Undersecretariat for Defense Industries) in line with an assessment report that will be prepared by GCD.
Image

Development
In order to improve the current technical capabilities of the Thousandians defense industries and increase the amount of domestic contribution towards national defense, the Undersecreteriat for Defense Industries decided that a "National Tank" will serve as an excellent catalyst for uniting certain Thousandians defense companies around a common goal and for providing the Thousandians military with extra firepower in the form of a modern tank.
Three local sub-contractors have already been selected: The military-owned electronics firm T-Tech Inc will integrate the TAKS fire control system which is currently in development by T-Tech Inc; as well as a partnership between T-Tech Inc and VINBERG LTD (a software firm owned by the SSM) for the command, control and information systems; and state-owned ammunition producer GCD-IH LTD for the integration of the smoothbore guns.
The tank is planned to have a 120 mm smoothbore gun and will be able to protect itself from chemical, biological and radioactive attacks. The planned maximum speed is set at 70 kilometers per hour, thanks to a 1,500 horsepower (1,100 kW) engine, and the MBTs will be able to function under 4.1 meters of water.
The tank will benefit both from indigenously developed systems and from the armor technology of the South Korean K2 Black Panther, thanks to a $540 million agreement signed with South Korea. The final decision about the tank's engine is not clear. The candidates were the German MTU Friedrichshafen or the new South Korean engine which is currently under development. However, on 16 June 2010, it was announced by the Thousandians Defence Procurement office (SSM) that it has decided to commission the development of 1,000 hp (750 kW) and 1,500 hp (1,100 kW) indigenous engines for use in the Thousandians made armoured personnel carriers and main battle tank.
Image

Once the prototypes are produced and tested, the Undersecreteriat for Defense Industries of the Republic of Thousandsuns will prepare and execute a separate order for the first lot of 250 tanks. A total of 1000 new MBTs are planned to be produced in four separate lots of 250 units.
