Inis Airways International Airport
Inis Airways is the national airline company of Inisowen, and the only one based on the island. It was established in 1962 in an effort to connect Inisowen to the rest of the modern world, with the establishment of the state-run national airline came the nation's first airport. Inis Airways International. The airport itself is relatively small but was sufficient for the size of the country. It also greatly boosted the tourism industry of the country. Over the years the airport has grown to hold a substantial number of gates and now has three terminals. The airport still remains at a miniscule scale by international standards however.
The airport has four asphalt runways, the largest being 3,400m long. The two primary runways are IAR1 and IAR2 while IAR3 is reserved for emergencies such as diplomatic visits, another runway is disabled, mayday landings etc. IAR4 is the final runway and is reserved for cargo and military flights.
In all terminals, bar the Freightways, there are many restaurants, lounges, retail outlets and accommodation facilities available for long-wait transfer flights. We aim to make your flight as comfortable as possible and this is one of the many ways of doing so.
Security at Inis Airways International is prime. The airport has its own police service which is supported by the national service. The security checks in the terminals are scrupulous with state of the art x-ray machines, random checks and strict monitoring of suspicious bags and passengers. No food or drinks are permitted past the security gate in each terminal.
