The government of the Federation of Migdou is always looking to find new ways to serve and protect its people, and frequently invests in new technologies in an effort to both expand the boundaries of what the average person can accomplish and enjoy and to create and preserve a balance between Humanity and nature. Recognizing the rising prevalence and great utility of the Internet, the government of the Federation places the following proposal before the world and requests advice as to whether the project it has conceived is plausible. Quite simply, it is our goal to create an Internet network accessible from anywhere in the nation.
This large project would be accomplished via the construction of solar-powered router towers across Migdou, ideally no more than one per square mile, though we are unsure of whether such range is possible. In order to more easily facilitate wilderness rescue, each station would contain not only the router equipment but a computer that would allow the injured or stranded to call for help. The towers would be tied into an enhanced network of internet cafes to create a single universal system in which one station could be knocked out without the loss of all the others.
Obviously, this presents a massive opportunity for vandalism, but our nonexistent crime rate leads us to believe that our people would know better. Therefore, we ask those who have more knowledge on the subject of such technologies: what would be the cost of the installation, and where could we acquire the equipment en masse? Roughly how long would the procedure take? Importantly, could it be done with low environmental impact? While the solar panels contribute, we are reluctant to place these towers directly in wildlife habitats if they will prove unnecessarily disruptive.
Please inform the Triumhominate Council of your opinions on the matter.
