Looking for someone to produce troop pods (mt)

Postby Kelewann » Thu Sep 24, 2009 11:56 am

A modern tech veriation of the ODST drop pods. We would like these pods to be able to be deployed from a airplane (like C130) and be able to have a soldier and his gear deploy while having casualties be minimal. This might mean that after the soldier droops he directs his pod to where it goes, he pulls a lever and like a paracute opens up. We are prepared to pay a high amount of money. Also if you can (but optional) have a picture to go with it, that would be great.

OOC: Why not just have paratroopers? The pods, with modern technology, wouldn't really help very much, I shouldn't think. They'll make the target a lot bigger, and you'll be leaving behind valuable technology in enemy territory, since the trooper can't very well carry the pod with them after they've hit the ground.

OOC:

If you are operating from an aircraft, particualrly from an aircraft anythign like a C-130 then parachutes are the way to go. They are steerable, allow you to drop a trooper and most of his equipment at the same time, are stealthy and can be fast (HALO) or long range (HAHO). All a pod would do is add weight that could likely make the landing much less fun.

Pods would only be needed for supersonic, sub orbital or orbital insertion techniques.

ooc: The reason why pods would imo be better than paratroopers is because when the paratroopers are comming in their vonerable to fire. With pods its just release and go. Also the C130 was just the first airplane that came to mind. Like if a fighterplane could have 2 pods that would be great also.

It would be difficult to design, the modern technology would make it less effecitve and its giving resources into the hands of the enemy. If that is however what you'd like, then we'll contact Hugo Follas to try and develop one, depending on your ecomic ability to pay for them that is.

-Ramón Guerra, President of Crabulonia

Having been contacted by the Government, I am at the drawing board stage of development. I figure what you'd really need is something along the way of a bullet-proof, heat-resistant which is able to withstand the great force of landing (parachute or not there will still be considerable force exerted on the pod). It will then defintely need to be able to be cracked open as the last thing you want is soldiers trapped inside the pinnacle of modern technology. In general I would be happy to perform such a task and would like confirmation on whether or not to proceed.

We would like you to proceed making these. We do not need a large quantity. In fact we only wish to have a small number, used for the highest missions (assasinations, ext). If you want, take a look at our economy/military budget you will see that it is more than enough to pay for this.

Right well Henry Follas has been n his laboratory/shed for a few days trying to make these pods. Eventually he came up with this;

Image

Now it is important to remember that this is just basically a small chambre for your men to stay inside as such, those inside can liquidise if they do not pull the parachute and just hit the ground. They have to open their parachute at 10000 feet to slow down to a safe landable velocity. The 'Egg' (as it has affectionately been called) then cracks to allow your men to escape. It is important to note that sometimes the cracking device fails to operate, at which point the soldier can be stuck inside, I assume you do not want viable troops to be stuck inside chambres to starve to death so it is best to ensure that those inside have a certain degree of strength so they are able to escape by forcing the Egg open.It has adjustable wings, which can be tilted to change the direction of travel, but the Egg cannot be steered after it reaches a 11000 feet.

The cost to produce these drop pods is in excess of $600 million, and Henry Follas' time is very expensive so call it $750 million. If this is an agreeable price then by all means place an order, if not you didn't hear a thing.

We would like to buy 3 for $2,250,000,000.

After a brief check of your credit history, we have deemed that this is acceptable. The drop pods are on their way as soon as we get confirmation of you wiring the money.

(OOC: First successful deal for me)

And the pods are being delivered. The Government endorsed Follas Weapon Design thanks you for your patronage, the drop pods should be in your armoury soon.
