Strict-MT, or Realistic-MT, or True-MT covers what exists IRL already, or what you could get built IRL this year (2009), if 2-5 years ago (2004-2007) you shelled out a number of megabucks and placed an order with a RL company.

High-MT, or loose MT, or general MT covers:
1) Everything covered by Strict-MT;
2) What we can actually see built IRL within ~5 years (2014) and deployed within ~10;
3) What could have been built by about now IRL, if some big nation bothered to start the project 5-30 years ago.

Most general MT stuff like tanks is explained by the 3rd clause, although aircraft usually fall under the 2nd.


The "greatest scientist advances" are PMT and Near-FT, since they won't be used until 2050-2100 and beyond.

The Geryon Class L.P.D is an Amphibious Transport Dock (A.T.D) also called the Landing Platform Dock built for amphibious warfare and Humanitarian missions. Amphibious transport docks perform the mission of amphibious transports, amphibious cargo ships, and the older LPDs by incorporating both a flight deck and a well deck that can be ballasted and deballasted to support landing craft or amphibious vehicles.

There are currently fifty-five Geryon Class LPDs under construction and One-hundred in commission as of August 2009; LPDs 156 through 165 are planned, but have not been awarded to a shipyard or all named. The final unit cost for each ship is 950 Billion USD. The class's increased vehicle and substantial cargo carrying capacity will make it a key element of 21st century Amphibious Ready Groups, Expeditionary Strike Groups, or Joint task forces. The 12 ships of the new class integrate the latest in shipbuilding and warfighting technologies to support current and future Marine Corps aircraft, the Expeditionary Fighting Vehicles (EFVs) and both air cushion or conventional landing craft. No. Just because its huge, doesn't mean it is indestructable. It is actually fairly easy to kill a ship of the size of the Longsword class, which is why most people don't use anything like that in the first place.
