Who is EDEBC?

EDEBC (The Exegrad and Das Engel Banking Corporation) is Radiatia's oldest and largest private bank.

History:

Just like Radiatia itself, EDEBC has travelled a long way - from its humble beginnings under communism, to being one of the major global capitalist forces today.

"The Bank of the People"

In the Radiatian year LET 6 (1983 in the common calendar), under the guidance and persuasion of Grand Chancellor Pieter Makht, the Board of the Communist Party began implementing major economic reforms which would transition the Radiatian People's Socialist Union from a Planned Economy to a Socialist Market Economy.

The result was the creation of two Special Economic Zones (SEZs) - the cities of Exegrad, Alayenia and Das Engel, Amentra.

As foreign currency and trade began to emerge in a nation in which there had previously been no private enterprise or ownership, Grand Chancellor Pieter Makht determined that Radiatia needed to create a private banking institution - although it was to remain strictly in state ownership. As a result of this decree, the Exegrad and Das Engel Banking Corporation was born, which Makht announced would be a "Bank of the People".

EDEBC was a pioneer in the electronic money revolution, and helped transition Radiatia into a cashless society.

Privatisation:

EDEBC was one of the major companies to be privatised following the fall of communism, and was listed pubicly on the Exegrad Stock Exchange (EXE).

Because Alayenia had become a separate nation for the first 5 years following the fall of the RPSU, EDEBC had technically become a multi-national corporation, with branches in the Republic of Alayenia and the Radiatian Federation. The global headquarters were located in Exegrad, while the Radiatian national headquarters were located in Das Engel.

Since the reunification of Radiatia and Alayenia, EDEBC has had dual headquarters in Exegrad and Das Engel.

The bank fell on hard times during the 1997 Radiatian Financial Crisis, and the Federal Government stepped in to bail it out, and in the process taking 10% of the company shares.

Modern EDEBC:

EDEBC has risen to become Radiatia's largest private bank, with the "Bank of the People" beating off international competition in the local market.

In 2010, CEO Zeke Sinasohn announced that EDEBC's new strategy would be to enter the international marketplace and become the "Bank of the People" not just for Radiatians - but for all people of the world.

OOC: I caluculate interest basically whenever I update it. Kiana's account has earned interest. And if you want to withdraw or deposit, just make a quick post. I might make a form to do so but... I feel it could be pointless.

I'm planning to give the storefront a wee revamp after I'm done with my other "major NS projects".
